Daddy's Girl

If you know anything about me, you know that I am an only child. I am also most definitely a Daddy's Girl. We brought my dress home from the salon on Saturday. My mom has gone with me to all of my fittings, and while my dad has seen pictures of me in my gown, he hadn't seen the real thing.

Mom suggested that I try on my gown for my dad last night. Well, I jumped at the chance to put my dress on again! I put on the shoes and undergarments, then Mom assisted me in getting into my dress. Let me tell you, it feels so good when it is zipped up on me. The seamstress did a really nice job making the dress Dezi-sized. We grabbed my veil and my bouquet (Mom finished the bouquets last week. We are having artificial flowers, of course) and made Dad hide in the kitchen while we came down the stairs and Mom arranged my train behind me.

When we told Dad he could look, the expression on his face was priceless. (And no, he did not cry.) We even practiced walking together, like we will on July 23rd. I've dreamed about the day when my dad would walk me down the aisle, and standing next to him, arm in arm, in my wedding gown, I realized that it is going to happen very soon. I love you, Dad. I love you, Mom. Thank you both for helping to make this wedding everything I dreamed it would be, and more!

Four Months To Go...

Well, here we are, four months away from our wedding day. I remember when we first got engaged, how far away July 2005 seemed. Now it is getting so close!

I have a shower scheduled on April 9th. I saw the invitation to it, they are really pretty! As with the wedding invitations, it is very surreal to see a shower invitation for a shower given in honor of me! Wow! This shower is a room-to-room shower, where each person is assigned a certain room to buy stuff for. I'd never heard of that before, I think it'll be fun. My aunts on my dad's side of the family are giving the shower. We'll have pictures of it, either linked to my photo page or David's. (Or maybe we'll do a separate wedding-related photo page. We haven't figured that part out yet.)

I also have been looking at a very important part of my wedding ensemble: the garter. I told David that I'd wear an Aggie garter. I was looking around on the internet, trying to find where you can buy one. I found a couple of sites. The first one is All Sports Weddings. I thought these were fun, and they come with a free toss garter. Otherwise, I'd have to get one to throw and one to keep. Another site is Loupots. This one is fun, but it doesn't come with a toss garter. Anyone have another other suggestions for places to get an Aggie garter?

Finally, David spent some time adding some things to our site! Check out the sidebar, where we now have the date, time and place for the big day! He also linked our registries to this page. Great job, David!!!

I Feel Pretty

I had my second dress fitting this past Saturday. Heather and I drove in one car, my mom and aunt Linda drove in another car. After missing the appropriate exit and charting a rather creative route in typical Dezi fashion, we arrived at the bridal salon only about five minutes late. I once again got to don my beautiful wedding gown!

Now one thing about the dressing rooms is that they are too small for two people plus a wedding dress and accessories to fit in. Mom and I had fun trying that last time. Nonetheless, I put on all the appropriate underclothes, then Heather slipped the dress over my head. I have no idea why I bothered to fix my hair, the minute the dress went over my head, it pulled my clip out of my hair. Oh well. I put it back in and we ventured out to the area where the seamstress was waiting. As I took my place in front of the mirror, I looked at Heather. She got all teary-eyed and gave me a hug. My mom and Linda told her to stop that, or they'd start up too. The dress fit much better in the waist this time and the front was the right length, but as I was walking around, Mom, Linda and Heather all said that the sides needed to be shorter.

Once the dress was all pinned again, we discussed how I wanted the dress to bustle for the reception. We tried a couple of different styles of bustle before deciding on one. The seamstress pinned the dress where it would bustle and told me to walk around the floor. I walked around the store, stopping to twirl around a few times. (Well, I do need to practice dancing in it!) I felt so beautiful and am looking forward to the day when I can show David! Which will be July 23rd.

For the rest of the day, Heather and I were grinning ear to ear, thinking about me in the dress. When I saw David later, I was still grinning. My final fitting will be March 26th, then it should fit perfectly! Hooray!

I feel pretty, oh so pretty......

Field Promotion

I called a friend earlier this week and asked if he would be in our wedding. He told me he had to check his calendar and get back with me.

He called this morning to let me know that he was sorry, but had work conflicts and wasn't going to be able to be the Groom at the wedding.

After thinking a moment I had to inform him that the role of Groom had already been filled and that he sure wasn't going to replace me.

He called back a little while later. He'd had an epiphany. They were called Groomsmen. I told him, "That's great, but I'd asked you to be an usher."

We love you Scott. You made both of us laugh very hard without even intending to.
