Misadventures of a Bride & Groom

On Sunday at church, our pastor read a funny story about a disastrous wedding. However, it had a really good ending. Something else that tickled me about Sunday, was when Billy was talking about how he had married various people in our church, children of people in our church, and how he was about to marry some people in the church. When he said that, he looked right at me. I wanted to say "yay!!!!", but decided that would not be the best thing to do at church.

Last night, David and I had our first pre-marital counseling session with our pastor. I really enjoyed the session, and am very glad that Billy gets to do the ceremony. I think it is more meaningful, because he knows us and has a relationship with us, which makes the whole thing more special

As our RSVP date (July 1st) draws near, people's replies are flooding in! Please get your reply cards in as soon as possible, or you will be receiving a phone call. Please do not assume that we "know" that you are coming, with the number of people we have invited, it is imperative that we have an accurate headcount to give to the caterer, to give them adequate time to adjust the amount of food. So, please, please, please, if you have not done so already, please send us your RSVP card. Please. Thank you!

One Month to Go....

One month from today, David and I will become husband and wife. How cool is that?!?!?! I am a tad bit excited. Nervous and stressed, but definitely getting excited. I've been imagining all day what I'd be doing at that time a month from today. It just blows my mind how quickly the days are going by!

I uploaded some pictures from Saturday's shower, and am in the process of putting more up. However, my photo page is not always the most cooperative thing. This weekend is the much anticipated (at least by me) bridesmaid retreat!! Becky's parents operate a Bed & Breakfast and we are going there Friday night to hang out and just relax. Becky's got all sorts of fun stuff planned, including a possible trip to Eastland to see a movie, or going roller skating (maybe not), working on a wedding scrapbook, and getting a foot spa/hand moisturizing session. Also planned is some GREAT food! I am really looking forward to the retreat!

Another not-so-glamorous task that I get to do is pack and move all of my stuff. A couple weeks ago, I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a bunch of clothes. Now I'm doing the same thing with books. Textbooks will go with me, as well as my favorites of course, but there are a bunch of books I can get rid of, and they are stacked and waiting to be moved. I'm not taking any furniture with me (except for my keyboard), but I have a lot of paperwork and school stuff that will be moved. Saturday night, Heather and I are going to go through my stuff and start boxing things up. Some of my shelves are already starting to look bare!

Wedding Transportation

Well, last week, David reserved our wedding transportation. Thank you, David!!! I am excited that we are going to have a limo take us to the reception and then to a location not to be revealed unless under torture. David reserved a stretch limo! Doesn't that sound like fun? I don't know what it is about a limo that makes me feel like a movie star, but it does. Yay!!!

We have thirty-four days to go until the wedding. Yesterday, David's mom, aunt and bridesmaid Becky all came in to town for my bridal shower! This one was given by my aunt Kaye. I had a veil to wear, and received some really fun goodies. The most unique gift was something that I would have never thought of, and that was a box of sewing notions: spools of thread, a tape measure, scissors, a box of buttons, and all sorts of other knick-knacks. I will have pictures posted just as soon as I receive them. Thanx, Kaye!!!

Last night, David and I spent the evening getting wedding favors ready. We worked out a system: David poured the goodies into a little bag, then I put the bag in the box and clasped it. With the two of us working on it, we managed to knock them out rather quickly. I am really excited about the favors! The goodies inside are definitely a Dezi thing!

Tomorrow is a busy day, wedding-wise. I have my one-month meeting with the photographers. They provided us with a list of their standard photos, and David and I added a few to that list. Then, Mom and I have a meeting with the florist at Backstage Floral in Richardson. She was recommended to us by the wedding coordinator at St. Andrew, and is the florist used by the church. The only flowers they are going to do will be the sprays on the altar, so it shouldn't take too long! After that, we will go to the cake place and discuss a few last minute details about the cake. I am really excited about my cake. It's going to be great!

Blathering Blatherscythe

Today was spent baby-sitting the printer as it printed out our ceremony programs. I typed them up, then they were edited by Mom. Several spell and grammar checks later, the programs are all printed and folded, and are being pressed down by one of my textbooks (I knew it would come in handy some day!), so they'll be nice and flat. While the printed part is finished, we have the finishing touches to put on them. They are going to be very unique and really pretty.

We are also starting to get people's reply cards in the mail. It is so exciting to know that people are actually wanting to come to our little shindig! (Of course, any gathering involving the Muse clan is never "little"). Granted, I didn't exactly think that no one was going to come, but it does amuse me, some of the people that I would not have expected to answer so quickly, were the first ones to send in their reply cards.

Heather sent out an e-mail to the girls about the bachelorette party. I am really excited about it! We are going to do something that I think will be a lot of fun. It's not really a conventional thing to do at a bachelorette party, but it is definitely a Dezi thing to do. When I showed Heather the web site, she got all excited about it, too! Oh well. If nothing else, Heather and I will like it!

Coming to a Mailbox Near You....

That's right, everyone! The invitations are in the mail! Mom, Deanna and I took them to the post office today. They are going to hand cancel all the invitations, so they'll be all pretty when they arrive! I am really pleased with how the wedding stationary turned out. I picked this particular design because I thought it was very elegant and classy. The wording on it was easy, I knew exactly what I wanted it to say. I love our wedding stationary and I hope you think it is as beautiful as I do. So be looking in the mail for your invitation!

Flip-Flop Shower

I had my second shower today, and it was so much fun! It had a summer theme, and everyone was encouraged to wear flip-flops and casual attire. Linda and Heather were the hostesses, and they had a visor and bridal flip-flops for me to wear, as well as visors for the bridesmaids! I have some photos posted on my photo gallery already, and there are many more being sent to me, and I will post them as I receive them. I was again overwhelmed at the amount of stuff! Thank you guys!

One Ring to Rule Them All

Okay, sorry, that was a really cheesy title for this post, but oh well!! Dad brought home a surprise today! David's wedding band! We had looked around in various stores, but hadn't found one that he really liked. So we asked my dad (who works for Zales) to bring home a couple of catalogues. David narrowed his choices down to his top four, and told me I could pick one of those, and he'd be happy with any of them. So I chose one, ordered it, it just came in, and I think he's really going to be pleased! It has the color and texture that I know he likes. I'm excited about it, and it's not even my ring! Yay!!!!!
