All Finished

Today marks a significant milestone! I finished the last of the thank you notes just now. The last batch is in the mail as of ten minutes ago, so if you haven't received your note just yet, sit tight, you will! The really scary thing I did is to count up all the thank you notes I have written for wedding-related stuff. The grand total is around 160. That's a lot of thank you notes! I feel really good, now that it is behind me. I don't mind writing them, especially when I think of all the trouble that people went to, getting us a gift. However, it is good to have it over with. Hooray!!!

What's In a Name?

I have been in the process of changing my name with various entities, such as the bank, school, and other places. It was difficult to sign my last name as Rollins at first, but I'm getting more proficient at it. I am also getting better at introducing myself with my new last name. And I know it'll get easier with time.

Today I changed my name at school. Of course, I can't get my student i.d. changed until after I register, which sounds goofy to me, but they have their reasons for doing it that way. So now I am officially listed as Desiree Muse Rollins at UNT. Now let's just see how long it takes everyone to use the new last name.

One more place down, several to go....

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our one month anniversary. It's hard to believe that our wedding was a month ago today. It seems like it was just yesterday! Happy One Month Anniversary, David!

Cat Burglar

Over the past few weeks, getting adjusted in my new digs, I have also had to get used to living with a cat. Ash is a good cat, and definitely has a lot of personality! I've been around him for about three years, he finally realized that I wasn't going away, and has started being more friendly with me. Well, friendly isn't the right word, I'd say tolerant is more like it.

Right after the honeymoon, Ash was telling David his displeasure in David leaving him for a week, and also bringing home another person when he did come home. The first night we were home, he meowed at the bedroom door the entire night. While David can sleep through most anything, I can't, and his racket kept me up. I finally got up and let him in, then he just meowed in the bedroom, on the bed. Arrrgh!

Luckily, he has gotten over being mad at David, and he and I are getting along. He is no longer meowing all night long, which results in more sleep for Dezi. He does meow more when David gets home from work, and lets us know when he is feeling ignored.

A few nights ago, I noticed that my earring and watch were on the floor. I take off my jewelry (except my engagement and wedding rings) before I go to bed, and have been putting them on the nightstand on my side of the bed. I've found various pieces of my jewelry under the bed, behind the nightstand, and once David found an earring in the living room. I couldn't find my watch this morning, and looked in all the usual places, with no results. I finally got a flashlight and found my watch under the foot of the bed. Oh, and a small tupperware container with a lid to put my jewelry in at night.

Wedding Memories

Everyone said that the wedding day will go by so fast, it'll just be a blur. That was so true. One second, Mom was rolling my hair, the next second, I was walking down the aisle. There were people there that I never saw or got a chance to talk to. I do have some snapshots that stick out in my mind. I'll be doing something and suddenly think of something that happened at the wedding. I'll list a few of them here. Let me know your memories, too!

  • Looking around at the rehearsal dinner, and seeing our closest friends and family
  • Going out with my friends to Starbucks after dinner, and being a bunch of goofy band nerds together
  • David giving me roses on the wedding day (delivered by Josh)
  • Talking on my cell phone to the bridesmaids, when they were in the car right in front of us
  • My parents spotting Josh & David driving into the church parking lot and me having to duck down in the van, and run into the church
  • Singing "Chapel of Love" with my bridesmaids in the parlor right before the ceremony
  • Seeing Ian right before Dad & I walked down the aisle, laughing and joking with him
  • When the doors opened, seeing everyone standing up and looking at me and thinking how cool that was
  • Hearing the music I'd dreamed about played as we walked down the aisle (it was the Wedding Processional from The Sound of Music)
  • Seeing David at the front of the sanctuary
  • Admiring my rings for the first time
  • Trying to drink a glass of Coke in the limo, while not spilling it on my dress (it was challenging)
  • Arriving at the reception, everyone clapping
  • Dancing with David
  • Dancing with Dad
  • Dancing with a bunch of people!
  • Everyone telling me all day how beautiful I was (I could get used to that!)
  • Seeing my family and friends there to celebrate our day!

That's it for now. I know I'll think of much more. The slideshow from the photographers has jogged some memories. We'll get those pictures posted!

Now you may or may not have noticed the name change on this site. We're going to keep it going, as a way for both David and I to talk about our lives together. So I hope you continue to enjoy this page, the story of Mr. & Mrs. Rollins!
