Genevieve dancing

Sorry for the loud giggling and the soft singing... but that's pretty typical around here!

June

I went to Girl's Camp again this year.  Devin took the week off to take care of the kids.  They had a toga party.  Hopefully there was no alcohol involved, but that blue solo cup makes me wonder...

Devin's brother and his family are in the process of moving.  We were able to meet them down in San Angelo where Devin's Grandpa and Uncle live.

It was the first time that Eli and Genevieve got to meet their Great Grandpa.

This last weekend we cut down some dead trees around our house.  Genevieve was obviously excited!

Eli kept watch from the safety of our castle.  The sun was really bright.

Our good friends came to help.  See how helpful!

The night before we watched a YouTube video to see how to fell a tree and make it land in the right spot.  We're grateful that this didn't happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vddHbbCCUC0

Just in case, we had Tim and Chase pulling the tree in the right direction.  You can never be too sure!

Perfection!  Thank goodness for YouTube!

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, Devin and I ran a 5k hosted by our stake. We borrowed this awesome double stroller from our friends (thanks Dessie!) and Eli and Genevieve enjoyed the ride very much. We ran almost the whole thing (I think we walked maybe 200 yards about 3/4 of the way through) and were happy with our 34 min time.

We were tired from our morning run but that didn't stop us from driving for an hour and half to go to the lake with our good friends, the Hardin's. This is Eli and Graham sporting their awesome PFD's.

Genevieve got her tan on!

I water-skied.  It took me 3 tries to get up but I did it! It's been YEARS since I've been so I was just happy that I made it up for awhile!

Eli was pretty tired.

Isn't she cute!

Sad boy.  Happy girl.

Nothing like cowboy pj's and a cowboy hat!

May

We went on a day trip up to Amarillo.  We went on a Monday which meant that the zoo was free, so we stopped there first.  Eli loves the zoo!

The Amarillo zoo is small, like really small.  It only takes about 20 minutes to walk through the whole thing. But they do have lions, tigers, bears (oh my!), huge snakes, monkeys and even a peacock. We got to see the peacock put up all his feathers and shake them at a pigeon, to scare it away - it was really very beautiful.

We are looking at the goats which followed us along their whole pen.

Our next stop was to the Cadillac Ranch. We were lucky (and unlucky) to see them filming for the Great Food Truck Race on Food Network. Lucky cause we had a brush with fame and unlucky because they wouldn't let us leave for about an hour and a half and Genevieve was hot and hungry.

Our next stop was to the Big Texan.  Eli's dinner came with this awesome sheriff's hat!

Eli and Devin went on the Father's and Son's camp out. Eli loved it and keeps asking to go camping.

Remember the solar eclipse (does anyone else have the problem that when they read the words "twilight", "new moon", or "eclipse" the first thought is of Kristen Stewart? Seriously, today we were singing "The Star Spangled Banner" in RS and the word "twilight" is in one of the verses and that's all I could think of... oh Stephanie Meyer, what have you done to me?!). Anyway, we drove out to the fields to watch the solar eclipse. Unfortunately when it was a total eclipse (of the heart!), we had clouds. Seriously, the only time Lubbock has clouds is during a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... ugh!
