Smith Family Christmas Party..a never boring story

Well we are in Utah now, and have 3 or 4 more Christmas parties to go NICE! Last night was the Smith Family Christmas party. THe Smith's are Dustys moms side of the family It was at Nancy and Tom's in Orem and boy did we have a blast.

Me and Jaime

Dusty and Jaime
Hunter Ladies...from left Ashley(niece), Misty (Dusty's sis), Jaime, Becky(sis-in-law), Vada (mom) me, and Alisha (Dusty's sis) my camera only likes to work 25% of the time
HUnter girls with lights on

Santa droped by to give Grams a kiss

Dusty's cousin got stuck in the snow

So they helped her get out

Dusty started a snowball fight, It came time to leave and I couldn't find him anywhere figured no way he would be out in the snow...YUP HE WAS. This is when he used little Carly as a snowball shield.
Dusty and Jess snowball FIGHT

Still snowballs

Aunt Lish came and said WE're DONE
AHH the fun begins here....Have you ever tried to find a needle in a haystack? Me either but how bout a set of car keys in 6 inches of snow? YEAH WE got to last night!

Uncle Tom with his head lamp wanted to make sure he could see what he was looking at.

Searcing the snow

After the snowball fight Becky and the kids couldn't find the car keys. Jessica had them last right before the snowball fight started and then told us all that she had lost them in the snow. So then we started our seach party which included a several rakes and snow shovels
After about 45 minutes me and Jaime were freezing and not much help for the search party so we suggested we go and buy a metal detector. Word of advice Target and Walmart DO NOT carry metal detectors so we headed back. While we were gone the cops showed up?? MIssed out on that picture :(
Luckily "GOOD OL KURT" had a metal detector for us to borroow. Randy started first and no luck.

Dusty then took over and after 2 hours of digging through snow guess what my hubby and hero of the night found??
THE KEYS!
MY KEY HERO!

And to think they were right here the whole time.

Remembering Cory Hunter

Well December 19th last year was a sad day. We lost our Cory. Cory was only 38. We miss him everyday, I hope he knows how much he meant to us. The picture that is below is the last picture taken of Cory it was for their family Christmas card and was taken two days before he died. Cory did everything for everyone and he lost track of doing things for himself. I have so many funny stories about Cory and I am so glad that I was able to get to know him and be in his family.

I was telling Dusty last week that I was going to be making this post today for Cory, he told me he was thinking the same thing and wanted to write a poem to post. He wanted the poem to let people know that Cory's death was to create happiness for his family. Those were some of his thoughts when he died. Last night when I asked him if he had written his poem he said no he didn't want to think to much about it. I guess my words will have to do.

Cory told me this joke one day, he always was joking. This is how it was told

"They are having a Clinton Sale this weekend at JC Penny, all the pants are half off!"
I replied "Huh, I don't even like JC Penny."
It took me a few minutes to figure it out, or maybe Cory was laughing and wanted me to laugh with him so he ended up telling me what was so funny about it.
We miss you Cory, everyday.

In Memory of Jason and Curtis aka "Cortez"

On December 18th it will be three years since we lost two good friends Curtis Edwards and Jason Peck.

Dusty had known Curtis since he first moved to American Fork back in Junior High, I actually met Curtis March 13, 1998. I know this day because it was the day that me and Dusty met also. The story gets better because me and Dusty actually met in the back of Curtis' van. At the end of the night we wanted to get each other's number and no one had a pen or cell phone at the time so I gave him my car's FOR SALE sign (well my mom's car sign)

Curtis was there on me and Dusty's second date...yeah it was the THREE of us just hanging at Curtis' house until he finally got sick of being the third wheel and kicked us out because he had to be to work the next day.

We would meet up with Curtis in San Felipe, Mexico. That is where we came up with calling him "CORTEZ" Since the sea in San Felipe is called the Sea of Cortez. We told Curtis that he was Cortez since Curtis in Spanish translates to CORTEZ. We got our little "Cortez" a few weeks after Curtis passed away so he is named after our Curtis.

We got to know Jason really well the Spring of 2005, Jason was a little bit older then us. He was my sister Lorrie's age and my cousin Austin's age. We went to San Felipe with Jason the spring of 2005. We all acorse had a blast and it was fun to get to know Jason.

Skip forward to November 2005, we again went to San Felipe, there were six of us who went that trip: Me, Dusty, Austin, Julie, Curtis and Jason. We had a blast! One night Austin and Julie stayed home and so me, Dusty, Curtis and Jason went into town for the night. We were all piled into Jason's truck. When Curtis put in PRINCE the Pretty Woman song. We all song our hearts out! My pictures that I have below are the last ones I had of our trip to San Felipe about a month before they passed away.

MISS YOU GUYS A LOT!
