Deegan and Griffin Meet!

I was pretty nervous for how Deegan was going to react to his new brother. I shouldn't have worried! Eric's mom brought him in and he walked right in and happily said "Hi mom!" It was all great from then on. We showed him his brother and he kept saying, "Cool baby!" He showed him to everyone that came in. I was beyond happy!

My sweet boys!

Too bad this one is blurry.....

Deegan and his presents from baby brother. He LOVES Zoey from Sesame Street and has asked for a Zoey for a while. So now he has one.

This one won't turn.....Deegan has been a total dream with all of the changes he is dealing with. I couldn't have wished for it to be any more perfect. I am so blessed to have this sweet little guys in my house and to be their mom!

As with his brother, Griffin had plans all of his own. We had scheduled me for a C-section on February 9 at Noon. He was still breech at my last appt and I was dilated to a 4. This was on Tuesday February 7th. So I had the 8th to finish getting things ready and to spend one last day with Deegan as my only child! I was paranoid all day thinking something was going to happen and I was going to go into labor. Eric was working in Ogden so this made me even more nervous! But I made it through the day, we went to bed and I was going to head to the hospital at 10 the next morning.

I didn't sleep good all night. My back was killing me but I figured it was because I had done so much that day. I dozed in and out but at about 6:30 I woke up and was having contractions. I had had similar ones a couple of times before but these didn't stop. I couldn't drink any water or anything so I decided to get in the tub and see if they went away. They didn't. At 7:30 they had become more intense and were consistent every 3-5 minutes. I called Labor and Delivery and they said to play it by ear for the next half hour or so but to call if I needed to head up. Shortly after that I was certain that there was no way we were waiting until 10 to head up. I told Eric we needed to go. He was awesome and quickly rounded Deegan up and quickly ran him to his moms house. In hind site, we should have ran him to the neighbors or to my moms house but Eric made it there and back in record time. I couldn't stand or really talk anymore when the contractions hit so when Eric got home, I was in the car ready and waiting for him. (He drove his truck to take Deegan). We raced to the hospital, got checked in and I got changed. The contractions were so bad. I never really felt them with Deegan so this was making up for that!

They got me hooked up, and checked me. I was now dilated to a 6. Shortly after that my water broke. They were racing to get the room ready so I could go down for the C-section asap. I could barely talk and they were asking me lots of questions. I had several contractions that were back to back which is just evil!! Finally they had everything ready and started wheeling me down. I was hanging in there and just knowing that shortly after I got into the operating room, I would be pain free!

They got the spinal block in (which is heavenly!! Way better then an epidural!) and they got right down to business. I was so calm and feeling so much better at this point. I believe it was about 10 minutes from when they started that my doctor had Griffin out. I felt some tugging and pressure but it wasn't bad at all. Eric got up to take pics of Griffin but quickly had to sit back down. He was so pale! They said it is very common for dads to do this. :) They nurses kindly took over the camera and Eric sat down. They brought Griffin over to me and I was so relieved that he was perfect and healthy!! I think that is just a wonderful moment for moms when they get to see their baby after 9 months and know that everything is fine!

Eric was feeling better at this point and got to take Griffin to the nursery. He had to go to the NICU as a precaution but was doing fine so he only had to go back a few times to get his vitals checked. He was perfect each time. I was wheeled to recovery and then they brought him back to me. I was able to nurse him and he did amazing!! My mom came shortly after that and we just hung out for a bit until they took me to my room in Mother and Baby.

It was a great, exciting day! Would it have been nice to not have to deal with going into labor and those awful contractions?! Of course! But I got to meet Griffin 2 1/2 hours sooner then planned! Here are a few pics from the first day. I will post others soon!

At the hospital, before I changed. I look hideous. ha ha

Daddy all dressed up in his scrubs!

Big boy! I can't imagine him staying in there for 2 more weeks until his due date! We had no room. :)

Getting his first bath. Love all of his hair!! More pics to come! These ones aren't too great of quality but thats okay. I also have his newborn pics to post too. But we are overjoyed with this sweet little guy!!

37 Weeks!

I know I am still behind on blogging, and I don't even have a picture to go with this post but since my last appointment was full of surprises, I wanted to write them all down.

Yesterday marked 37 weeks and I had my weekly appointment. First off let me just say how exciting it is to make it to 37 weeks this time! Full term!! I have been going to the Dr. weekly since 34 weeks just so we could keep up on things in case it looked like this one was coming early as well. I was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced at 34 weeks and 35 weeks. At 36 weeks I was dilated to a 3 but still 50% effaced. Well when I went at 37 weeks, she called it 3+. She couldn't tell the position of the baby and thought she felt his hand so she had them bring in the ultrasound.

Well, sure enough, he is NOT head down. And it wasn't a hand but a foot that she felt! Yup he is feet down head up. Little stinker. Since I am already so far dilated, she didn't dare try to turn him for risk of breaking my water. If my water breaks and he is still feet down, it turns into an emergency situation. Yay!! So, whats the plan?

I am going back in on Tuesday for another ultrasound and to check his position. If he is still feet down, she will schedule me for a C-Section either Wednesday or Thursday. If he has turned, we still might consider a C-Section because she is estimating that he is already about 2 pounds bigger then Deegan was. I had a hard time delivering Deegan and she is also concerned that with how my pelvis is and a bigger baby, I might not be able to deliver Griffin.

SO, I am anxiously awaiting my appointment on Tuesday so we can go from there and hopefully have a plan one way or another. And in the mean time, I am hoping nothing happens before Tuesday!

I am pretty uncomfortable, totally full with this baby. I don't see how he can possibly get any bigger. There is no more room! I usually stay up until about 1 am because if I go to bed before that, I lay there for an hour or more. All in all, I am doing really well. I am ready to be done and meet this little guy! Tuesday can't come fast enough!
