Dance Recital 2017

The girls had their dance recital yesterday. This year Emery moved up to the ballet/tap combo class and Meyers moved up to level 1 classes and took jazz and ballet. Emery has loved doing tap this year since all she's done until the start of this year was ballet. Meyers has really gained confidence this year. It's been so fun to watch and to also see her really learning technique. She knows the names of every move, position, etc. in her classes. Mimi and Poppy surprised them and drove 1500 miles round trip for the weekend. The girls were super excited that their cheering section was bigger than just me and John:) I helped again backstage this year and it was not nearly as stressful as usual which was great! We are so proud of our tiny dancers:)
Recital pictures taken a few weeks ago. I really loved their ballet costumes.

There are no pictures or video allowed at the recital, but you can video and take pictures at the rehearsal.

They rehearsed ballet several times because one girl was late. I think they were waiting right here.

She had a small ballet class this year and it was so nice. You got to really see each one when they performed and they ALL did awesome - like barely a mistake/misstep in the whole group!
Emery's ballet and Meyers's jazz numbers were back to back in the line up so they were lined up near each other and I grabbed this picture of my girls.

These girls love each other!!

They sure know how to pose:)

Meyers loves Addie too!

Whew! We made it to the end of the recital. Flowers for our dancers!

Emery's 5th Birthday

Somehow Emery has turned 5 years old. I am seriously having MAJOR issues with the fact that my last baby is already 5. My sweet and spicy baby has turned into a sweet and spicy big girl halfway through PreK and headed to Kindergarten. I really don't know how this happened:)

We had her party the Saturday before her birthday. My parents were able to be here that weekend because my dad had a conference here that week. Having family here for birthdays is so special since we are so far away now.

We do a big party one year and a family only party one year and this year was her big party and she wanted to invite everyone in her class, as well as a few others. We had it at a pottery painting studio. I did regrets only on the invitation and only a couple of people replied, but I was still shocked when we had 24 kids there!! It was crazy and chaotic like any 5 year old party, but a little crazier since there was pottery and paint everywhere. It was a super fun party and Emery had a blast!

Emery doesn't like cake so we did brownies instead.

Meyers's ear was bothering her a little, but she was a trooper at the party. By that night, she was pitiful and then her eardrum ruptured!

We spent the next couple of days like this. My mom flew home on Sunday and John flew out for work that same day. I was so thankful my dad was here to help keep Emery company while we snuggled:)

Her actual birthday

one years old/5 years old

I was the guest reader on Emery's actual birthday. Meyers's ear was better and she went back to school that day. Meyers has specials during that time so I grabbed her to come over to read a book to Emery's class.

Meyers reading Emery's birthday book the Kellys gave her for her 1st birthday:)

Emery got the stomach bug the night of her birthday. My dad had left that morning to go home and John was still out of town. Oh my word! We had a doozy of a week - ruptured eardrums and stomach bug.

Emery spent the next day on the couch. I looked over at her and realized her one year picture was on the wall behind her:)

24 hours later and she was feeling MUCH better!

I was so proud of my girl for writing 20+ thank you notes!! Pretty good for a brand new 5 year old:)
