Today

I took the girls to get flu shots this morning. It went much better than I expected. And I'm just hoping the girls don't catch something from going to the doctor's office. Meyers understands the concept of germs, but Emery doesn't. Emery would have screamed the place down if I didn't let her play with the toys. Meyers sat there so sweet watching Emery play and asked if she could play, too. So they played and I doused them in Purell when it was our turn to be called back.

When I was prepping Meyers for her flu shot, I told her that I needed to get mine, too. I promised prizes at Target for getting a shot. I asked her when we were leaving if she wanted to go to Target first or to get my shot first. And she said "I want to watch you get a flu shot." So we went to the Shot Nurse and I got mine:)

We ran to Target for a few things - the girls picked out microphones and Meyers picked Nerds for a prize. The Shot Nurse is by Memphis Pizza Cafe, and Meyers (our restaurant - obsessed child) was ON that. She talked about going there for lunch the whole time we were at Target!

And since they did so good getting their shots, we went there for lunch.

We got home and put Emery down for a nap, and Meyers helped me make some fall teacher "happys".

I always felt so appreciated when I had parents that did stuff like this:) Hope my girls' teachers know how much we appreciate them loving on our girls!

Minnie, Sofia, and a Picnic

We've been trying on Halloween costumes this morning. Gone are the days of homemade or sewn costumes. That ended last year. Maybe that will happen again when they are older and can commit to a costume:) When your kids (really, just the only talking one) changes her mind every day or so, $15 and under costumes from Target make more sense. Choices for the big day and dress up clothes for the other 364 days of the year.

Meyers wanted to keep hers clean, so she wanted to take it off except for the ears. She's wearing a button up sweater so she didn't have to take her ears off to put her shirt back on.

Meyers begged all morning for a picnic in the den for lunch. I wasn't so sure about a picnic and Emery. She's still a little messy at 22 months:) But I gave in and they are two happy girls.

Emery decided she needed her costume back on after she got dressed. I think she's going to be my "dresser upper". Meyers likes to dress up, but then she's ready to take it off a few minutes later.

Meyers's Harvest Party

Meyers had her fall party at school on Tuesday. It included a "pumpkin patch" and a hayride, and then a regular party back in the classroom. They get to do a lot more for their parties this year in the 4s; it's really cute. The weather was perfect! It was cool, but it felt like fall. They said it was actually hot last year for the outside part of the party.

I am the room mom again this year along with another mom. It's nice to have someone doing it with me this year. We have been tag teaming everything so far, and it's going so smoothly. I love going to her parties. I guess it's why I keep volunteering for room mom - getting to be there for all of the parties:) Her class is so good. They were really sweet and calm. I'm not sure if it's the difference between 3s and 4s, or just a different group of kids, but they were so well behaved. I got to put faces with all of the names I hear her talking about. One of the little girls in the class came up to me at the end and said "Y'all (me and the other moms) are very sweet teachers." How cute is that?

She picked a perfect little, round pumpkin. Some of the kids picked BIG ones!

These were Meyers's kiddie cornhole boxes from her 3rd birthday party.  Since I was party planning back then with an infant, my mom helped a ton, and made SIX of these boxes for me! John was going to throw them all away after the party, and I just couldn't let him toss all of my mom's hard work. So we kept two of them and those things are still going strong! I last minute brought one to her fall party last year. They were such a hit that I brought it to all parties last year. I upped my game this year; I added the pumpkin for this party, and made festive bean bags. Last year, they just threw the Yo Gabba Gabba bean bags:)
picture of the box at home - I was running the game, so I didn't get any pictures.

Her party went so well and was super fun! She had a blast and loved having her mama there just as much as I loved being there.

Pumpkin Cuties

Even though it was nap and rest time after we got home from church and lunch today, we let the girls play outside for a little bit. I have gotten SO bad about not getting out my real camera to take pictures of the girls. I ran inside and got it, and was able to get some sweet pictures of them in their matching pumpkin dresses:)

Pumpkin Patch (ish) 2013

We went to get pumpkins and pumpkin pictures (finally) this afternoon. Just like last year, we decided to skip the traditional pumpkin patch, and go to the cute place by the agricenter for pumpkins and "pumpkin patch" pictures. It's so much easier than going to a pumpkin patch!!! The girls had a blast running around and didn't know the difference. One of these days we will do the "real deal" pumpkin patches, but this place is perfect for our season of life right now:)

The girls loved riding around in the wagon. And John looks kind of angry in this picture, but that's actually his concentration face. He was searching for the perfect pumpkins to stack on our porch. Him, not me:)

love the way Emery is looking at Meyers

sweet girls

this picture was taken right before Emery had had enough of Meyers hugging on her. that girl needs her space:)

Emery was speaking her constant "jibber jabber". She was telling us something the whole time.
