Father's Day

We had a nice day. We ended up going to Stake Conference and got home a lot earlier than we would have normally. All 3 kiddos napped, which was also really nice. We had the Nicol family over for dinner (they are moving to China this summer). I tried some new recipes from the Lion House cookbook. We had Chicken Alabam, Green Beans Parmesan, Glazed Broccoli with Almonds, and sugar cookies for dessert. Yum! Great company and good food.

DADDY, according to the kids:

Queston: What do you love about Daddy?
Xander: "Daddy's hair..." - enough said. Xander really does love to rub his hands and head on Daddy's hair.

Jaren: "Daddy is nice. Daddy swings with me and has fun with me when he comes home and stays with us all weekend. He comes on trips with us. Daddy tickles me."

Question: How old is Daddy?
Jaren: "29... (a better guess than how old he said that I was!)"

Question: What size are Daddy's shoes?
Jaren: "7 inches"

Question: How much hair does Daddy have?
Jaren: "...just a little bit..."

Question: What is Daddy's favorite food?
Jaren: "Pasta"

Question: What does Daddy like to do at home?
Jaren: "Play with us"

Question: What do you liketo do with Daddy?
Jaren: "Play monster trucks with him... ride a train with Daddy at Greenfield Village... ride in Daddy's truck..."

Question: What does Daddy do at night?
Jaren: "Sleep"

Question: What is Daddy good at making?
Jaren: "Juice... a spider and a snake out of milk jugs..."

Firetrucks

A couple days ago, we were outside playing and heard firetrucks in the distance. A few minutes later, they pulled right up to a neighboring house. The boys were delighted to see the flashing lights and people. Then an ambulance showed up. That's never a good sign. Apparently, a grandpa had been living there. When the family came home from kindergarten graduation, they found him unresponsive. He was older. We don't really know many people on that side of the street, so we don't know that family well. So sad.

1 Nap a Day...

So, Ellie has pretty much transitioned to one nap a day. It's been like this for about a month. I try to time it so I can put Xander an Ellie down for naps around the same time. It doesn't always happen. Sometimes, Ellie just can't take it and decides nap time for me. She didn't even finish lunch! She's such a sweet girl.

Saturday

We went to the Tons O' Trucks event yesterday. The boys enjoyed all of the trucks, tractors, and fun events. They really liked the mini firetruck ride, spraying a real fire hose, !!climbing into the vehicles, sitting in a huge monster truck wheel, and of course tasting the yummy cotton candy! (I would have had more pictures, but my camera battery died after the first shot I took...)

We finished putting mulch around the back porch area. Ellie was hilarious. She really enjoyed transferring the mulch and getting dirty!

Detroit Zoo

On Saturday, we took the kids to the zoo. We hadn't been there since last year. It was a beautiful day. It sure was nice to have the long weekend and have Ethan home for an extra day.
