The New Hybrid Learning Schedule!

Yesterday, November 2nd, most of the kids FINALLY went back to school. They haven't been to school since March 13th, when Covid-19 closed everything. It's a hybrid schedule. Jaren and Xander will go full day on Monday's & Tuesdays, then will do remote classes again the rest of the week. Ellie, Audrey & Zoey will actually go back the entire week, but for half of the day. Then the 2nd half of each day will be remote learning again. Jaren, Xander, Audrey & Zoey all started the hybrid learning yesterday. Ellie has to wait until next Monday, November 9th, and she's NOT very happy about it. She wants to go as well. It's just how the school decided to bring back the 5th & 6th graders. Oh well. At least they all will have some kind of live instruction starting next week, and maybe I'll get some stuff done around the house!

Halloween, COVID Style

Happy Halloween! With Covid-19 still around, it was a weird year. Some people didn't want to trick-or-treat, or pass out candy. And a lot of people wore masks. But it was a sunny and beautiful day, with no rain! I made spider pancakes for breakfast the day before, and the girls had a virtual Halloween party/parade with their classes. That night, the kids had some friends over for a Halloween party. We played games, and had yummy treats. It really was a fun night.

We carved our pumpkins on Halloween morning. It was nice not to be in a big hurry to get things done, since Halloween was on a Saturday.

The kids still went trick-or-treating with a few friends. As I mentioned above, it was a really nice day. It's usually rainy and cold. We basically re-used some of our costumes this year. Jaren was a glowing stick person again. Xander was a pokemon trainer. Ellie was a minion with her friends (only Grace Cottingham and Allie Moss went trick-or-treating with us, and Jaren's friend Silas Smith). Audrey was a witch, and Zoey was a monarch butterfly.

(Some people got creative and used candy chutes to pass out candy!)

Here are some of our fun Halloween decorations!

Look at all that candy! 👀😜

Jaren and Xander got to trunk-or-treat at the church for a youth activity. They still had to wear masks and all, but they had fun!

October Happenings

Presidential elections are coming up on November 3rd. Jaren made a "Vote for Elmo" sign 😂.

Xander got this fun pizza blanket for his birthday, he loves it! So funny!

Having church at home still. Although, we will be able to start going back regularly for sacrament meeting. All other classes are still being held virtually.

This is a pretty clear picture of how Zoey feels about remote learning... she struggled. 😂😳😕

The girls and a couple friends were so funny. They asked some neighbors if they could have some of their leaves in their yards and raked them up into at least 4 yard bags. Then they dumped them in our yard by our maple tree so they could climb the tree and jump into the pile. Apparently, our tree wasn't losing its leaves fast enough for them! 😂

The kids created Halloween pictures via Zoom with the local library. They did a great job!

We drove to Tillson Street to see all the spooky Halloween decorations. There were SO many people, and it was cold... we were glad to stay in the car and just drive by!

Our annual cookie decorating didn't happen the way it normally does. We took cookie kits to most people except for the Fishers. The kids still loved doing this tradition.

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch on October 3rd. It's still hard to go anywhere because of COVID. We have to wear masks anywhere we go. At least we did something normal. The kids liked getting out and choosing pumpkins!
