That Darn Cord!!!

At my 20 week check-up with Bently we found out that the umbilical cord only had 2 vessels (one vein, one artery) instead of three (one vein two arteries). That meant that as Bently got bigger he might not get the nutrients that he needed to continue to grow, or worse case scenario live. I went to the doctors a lot more than normal, and had a ton of ultrasounds after this was found. Every thing always looked good, so my doctor decided to only start me one week early. He was scheduled to arrive on the 16th.
On Sunday the 7th about one hour after we had gotten home from church my water broke, so we called Grandma and Grandpa and had them meet us at the hospital. At the hospital I had started having contractions, but they weren't very strong so I was putt on Pitocyn. My contractions were just starting to hurt when the nurse came in and said I don't like what your babies heart beat is doing when you have your contractions. She said she was going to check to see what I was dialated to. She found something, but didn't know what it was, so she called in another nurse for a second opinion. Neither one knew what it was, they thought umbilical cord, but it didn't have a pulse. Then I had a contraction and the babies heart beat stopped. The nurses made me get on my knees and putt my head down. The contraction ended, and the baby came back nice and strong.
The next thing I knew there were five or six nurses in the room, and they were in a huge rush. One was on the phone with the doctor, another with the anesthesiologist, one was unplugging the bed, another handing Mark scrubs to putt on, and two more prepping me for a c-section. I knew what was happening, but it was still scary. The anesthesiologist came and told me that he was going to give me an epidural laying down, so it would take him a little longer than normal. They wheeled me down the hall, and told Mark that he could come in as soon as the Epidural was in. I hear the Doctor say "What is faster the epidural or putt her out?" They putt me out, and had a nurse open the door and tell Mark We had to putt her on general, so you can't come in. She shut the door and left Mark their to worry. Luckily he had given me a blessing before we went to the hospital, so he knew everything would be ok. After what seemed like forever (At the most 5 min) Mark and my Mom heard the baby cry. An hour later I start to wake up to a nurse telling me that everything went well, and the baby is just fine. He is with his Dad.
The Nurses were right when they thought they felt the cord. After my water broke the cord dropped, then the baby dropped. Every time I had a contraction the babies head pinched the cord. That DARN CORD caused us problems for 17 weeks, but Bently Hill Ekins is here, and he is perfect. At least his Mommy, Daddy, and big brothers think so.
Sorry about the delay. I wrote this a few weeks ago, but had a problem with a virus. Baby Bently was born on March 7th at 8:28 pm he weighed 6lbs 6oz and was 19 inches long.

Mustache?
Dayler sometimes says some pretty funny things. The other day he was going to the bathroom, and he got really excited. "Mommy! My weenie mustache has two balls in it!" Your what? Yep I had heard him right, I don't know where he came up with it,but I will never be able to look at a mustache in the same way again.
