Personal Progress Holder Tutorial (Fits the new FTSOY pamphlet)

You asked, so here it is! :)
**This PP holder fits the NEW FTSOY pamphlet!:)

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
-2 pieces of 18 1/4" x 14" fabric (outer cover & inner lining)
-1 piece of 18 1/4" x 14" Iron-on, medium-to-heavy interfacing
-32" ribbon (can be 5/8" or 7/8" width)
-Scissors
-Iron/Board
-Tape measure
-Marking pen or pencil

LET'S GET STARTED!!

-Cut 2 pieces of fabric (outer cover & inner lining) sized to 18 1/4" x 14".

-Cut 1 piece of Iron-on, medium-to-heavy interfacing sized to 18 1/4" x 14".

-Iron the interfacing to inner lining piece.
**NOTE: I will always iron the interfacing to the more flimsy fabric whether its the outer cover or inner lining piece.

-Place inner lining and outer cover right-sides together, align, and pin corners to secure.

-Measure a 4" gap opening along the long side, where you will not sew to be able to turn it right-side-out after sewing.
**NOTE: This gap closure will be on the inside of the holder at the top of the pocket when completed.

-Sew a 1/2" seam around the entire piece (except the 4" gap).
**NOTE: You could sew a little lest than a 1/2" to allow a more "roomier" pocket size:)

-Snip the 4 corners off (don't snip the stitching) to allow a more square corner.

-Through the 4" gap, turn it right-side-out. I used a crochet hook to get those corners really square.

-Iron the entire piece flat.

-Remember to fold the fabric where the opening is inward and iron before sewing.

-Top stitch 1/8" along the side where the opening is to close it.
**NOTE: After top stitching I like to tie up my ends before snipping the thread to secure.

-Turn piece so the inner lining is face up. Fold up to create a 5" tall pocket. Pin each side to secure.

-Top stitch 1/8" around the entire holder.

-To create the sectioned pockets, mark 5.5" in, then 10.75" in, the 11.75" in.

-Sew along these 3 lines downward.

-Double check the pockets sizes before you go on, and adjust accordingly.

-Pull all threads inward and tie up before snipping them.

-Measure out a piece of ribbon at 32"
**NOTE: I usually use 5/8" wide ribbon, but have also used 7/8" ribbon as well.

-Burn the edges of your ribbon to prevent fraying.

-Place the holder downward so that the outer cover is facing up. Measure 10" of ribbon past the edge of the holder.

-Place the ribbon's center about 4" up from the bottom of the holder. Pin ribbon along the length of the holder to secure.

-Stitch the ribbon (on the 4 marked lines) along the current "pocket" stitching lines.
**NOTE: I will sew downward, then reverse stitch back to reinforce and secure the ribbon.

-Pull all the threads inward, tie off, and snip.

-Add your books/pen and... YOU'RE DONE!!!

Dedicated to Jaz!

Yes, I know there is a two year gap from when I posted last... and I've been thinking I need to get back into "journaling"... so I figured I would post currently what's going on and then at some point, fill that little two year gap :)

Since I've previously posted about the fun little things Indi and Isaiah have done growing up... this post is dedicated to our sweet baby Jazlyn Isis (Jaz).

JAZLYN ISIS CARPENTER

So Jazlyn will be 15 months tomorrow!! We  can't believe how fast the time has flown by!! I feel like we just brought her home from the hospital as a new little baby.

BIRTH STORY:

Her delivery was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have asked for it to work out any better than it did. I woke up the morning of July 5th with some minor contractions that progressively became stronger. We headed to the hospital (while my sister-in-law Mandy watched the kids) around lunch time and had Jazlyn that evening; which also happened to be the night of the historic and one of the biggest dust storms here in the valley. Other than that, she came here healthy and perfect (7lbs--11oz--20in)!

I also graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology (with a Multimedia and Visual Communications concentration) when she was three weeks old! I think it was a major accomplishment for both of us!

Isaiah's 2nd Birthday

Yes, my baby boy Isaiah turned TWO on May 29, 2010! I can't believe he is already two! So I was going to make a football cake and had everything ready, but Isaiah absolutely loves robots or wobots (as Isaiah would say); really anything that looks like a robot. So I thought it would be fun to a make a robot cake that he would be excited about. Well.... it kind of turned out to be a bad idea... when he saw his cake he loved it so much that he wanted to play with it, and then he got a little sad :'(. But he was fine after he was able to eat some of it. So here is a picture of final product:

The color scheme for the party was silver and a lot of different colors (representing a robot) Here is a slideshow of the party! We had a great time! Happy Birthday Isaiah, I love you!! :)

A Few Hawaii Trip Pics!!

Ahhhh....what more can I say about this picture.... We were a 1-minute-walk away from this beautiful beach in Lanakai... I am even jealous of myself! :)
Eli and I at the luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). Great Food! Great Show!
This guy was hilarious... us gals loved him so much we just had to get a picture with him... I am all sorts of giddy! :)
Another great show at the PCC!
Adrienne and I spent the day with the girls (Presley and Sydney). We had a great time miniature golfing, shopping, and going out for lunch.
I am so glad I was wearing my miniature golfing gear!
Here is our crew at Pearl Harbor! What an amazing place. The Arizona Memorial was truly amazing! We had a great time!
Adrienne wanted to take a video of what we thought was to most fun thing we've done so far... here is mine and Eli's video.

We had such a great time! Thank you Dad and Sunny for taking us!!

We are still alive....barely! :)

It has been SOOOO busy here in the Carpenter home!! Here is a quick version update:

-We had a GREAT time in Oahu, Hawaii in March 2010, with my family.... more pictures to come soon!

-Eli is in his last University of Phoenix class to graduate with his Master's in Business Management and walks at the Cardinal's Stadium on June 15th 2010.

-I am in my 6th class (Web design 1) and loving it! I am still going strong in school maintaining a 3.91 GPA!

-I have decided to take a break from my part-time job of designing custom backgrounds for blogger. This is not permanent, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to pick it up again.

-My friend Kristan and have been creating some beautiful and unique hair accessories and are getting a website up and running to sell our products! I will let everyone know the website as soon as we get it up and running! We are way excited about it!

-Indianna is 3 1/2 now and is smarter than ever!! She amazes me everyday at the most intelligent things she says.

-Isaiah has a birthday this Saturday May 29th 2010.... he will be turning 2!!! I can't believe my baby boy is going to be two! He is still my little firecracker, but I love seeing him grow!

-We got a new puppy! Lexi! She was named after a vampire character on Vampire Diaries (which I LOVE!) and I was so mad they killed her character, so we named our puppy after her. We got her at a shelter and we think she is a pit bull and lab mix... but we're not sure. She is a good dog and is kennel trained and potty trained.... sort of, she is getting a lot better!

-We are excited to go home to Blanding for the Fourth of July!! We have a great idea for a food booth and we hope we can get that set up in time!!

I think this is pretty much the highlights of the Carpenter Household since our last post! I will definitely try and be better about posting! :)
