…the Wonderful Wizard of Oz! Every year Beech Mountain hosts the Land of Oz Festival the first weekend in October. I have been wanting to go for a couple years now but it never worked out until this year. All week we watched the weather forecast for Beech Mountain and as the weekend got closer the prediction got lower. Not only did it snow and ice, but the wind was miserably COLD! So, we pulled out the winter coats, scarves, gloves, and long johns and off to see the Wizard we went!
Did I mention…how cold it was?! This was one of the trees on top of Beech Mountain
The view from the top of Beech Mountain which will soon be covered with snow for skiing
Mrs. Gulch was kind of scary :) She asked Ella if she has seen Toto and Ella didn’t know what to think :)
Dorothy’s house (not in Kansas anymore!)
Not so sure about the tornado???
We were definitely not in Kansas anymore…
Ella was so excited that she got to hold the “pretty witch’s” wand!
The great and powerful Wizard
At the end of the yellow brick road the Wizard gave out stickers that said “I’ve been down the Yellow Brick Road”…they should have also gave out stickers that said “I survived the Blizzard of Oz!” LOL! Even though it was below freezing, we had fun traveling down the Yellow Brick Road!!
