Playing in the Leaves

Ellison & Mommy played in the leaves as Daddy tried cleaning them up. After some fun, we felt a little bad for him, so Ellison got out her little green wagon, would fill it up with a little pile of leaves, then pull it over to the curb where we'd dump them out. She had a blast, and was starting to get upset as Daddy cleaned up the last of the leaves: "My leaves! My leaves!". [November 8, 2008]

Something to Smile About

One of my favorite responses to date:

"Mookie, did you poop?" (Me)

"Noooo, assolutely not." (Ellison)

Ellison's speech seems to be taking off and changing again lately. Lovin' every minute of it...

Party Time!

On November 8, Ellison had a little birthday party at the Greensboro Children's Museum. We enjoyed watching all of the little ones burn off LOTS of energy. All of Ellison's little friends came with their parents (who, thankfully, are our friends, too!) - we were so happy to have them all join us. After chowing down some doughnuts (complete with sprinkles - E's normal fave even though she opted for the glazed Krispy Kreme) instead of cake, it was mass playtime, followed by mass exhaustion for the parents. Well, I shouldn't speak for everyone, I suppose...

By the way, the captions totally don't match the photos.  I have tried SEVERAL times to fix them, but as you can see, I have been unsuccessful.

These first 3 photos are courtesy of Alisha - can't you tell how great they are compared to my lack of photography talent?! Thanks, Alisha!!!

Mookie again didn't want to blow out her candles, and wanted Mommy to do it.

We got home and Ellison was in dire need of a nap (okay, so her mom was), so we opened only one present before bed. Which turned out to be a good thing - Ellison loved each and every gift she received, and once she'd open one she wouldn't care to move on to more - she just wanted to play with whatever she just got. We didn't post all of the gift-opening photos, but here are some action shots that came out the best. Thank you to all of Elli's little friends!

OMG - her fake smile made me laugh out loud when I came across this!

More Days of Fun

Ellison even had a great couple of days following her birthday. More fun stuff sent from afar, and some fun company.

(Ethan)... Do you wanna come over to my place for a couple of drinks?" [November 7, 2008]

Opening Presents

After our cupcake feast, Ellison got to open some presents that were sent to her from family. These pics are a little out of order, but I can't fix them (I'm not having warm fuzzy thoughts about Blogger right now!). [November 5, 2008]

Ellison talking into her new microphone. Daddy seemed to enjoy her new gifts just as much as she did! :)

Watch out Brady Bunch - the Sotos have got a family band too. Daddy on "'monica" (that's what E calls it) & Ellison on bells. Quite a unique sound these 2 have.

She immediately took to feeding her new baby doll. She has her typical concentration look going on. When you turn the bottle, the baby's eyes open or close.

All that's missing are the baked beans and coffee over the campfire...

Pretending to sleep in her "boat". She likes to watch TV in the "boat", too. Mommy's & Daddy's skin is ripping off our legs, but it's all good.

Ellison was very hesitant to tear paper at first.

Mother-daughter bonding, I suppose.
