I have a great reason for not posting in a while...
We are diaper FREE!
Ethan has mastered potty training. We went through a period of time which he would sit on the potty and not do anything, then go in his diaper. But as soon as he pee pee'd that first time and realized he was actually allowed to pee in something other than a diaper (just the potty please), he was all over it. And so proud of himself. He was going in the potty about three or four times... an hour... and showing everyone around him his big success. And there really wasn't any transitional period for him to learn #2, it just all happened at once. We still put him in pull ups for bedtime (since we have them on hand and let's face it - these things weren't cheap), but he has woken up dry almost every single night. He only had a couple wet nights right at first. He has woken us up in the middle of the night to go potty - and of course we get up. As long as he potties right before bed, he's usually just fine.
Public restrooms threw him off at first. He was pretty intimidated, especially by the self-flushing ones. And he was slightly put out by my toilet paper on the seat rule. But now he's a pro.
His first outside pee experience was with Grandma a couple weeks ago. She picked up the boys after school to go to a park and of course they wouldn't think to put a restroom there. So he got to pee pee on a tree. What fun!

Rocking the House
Aden had his very first Kindergarten production tonight. (It was everyone else's second performance, but they assigned Aden to be "dancer" during the Black History Month production and Aden refused to participate.) He did so well at his Nursery Rhyme show! And this comes as no surprise, because last night this morning at around 5:15 am, I woke to the sound of someone singing. I asked Adam if that was Aden singing in his room and he said, "Yes, and he's been doing that for about an hour." Poor little thing! He must have been so worked up about performing that he couldn't sleep! I asked him tonight what he was singing in the middle of the night and he said he was practicing his songs for the show... "and thanking God." Oh my goodness that child. I love him so much.
Ethan was so proud of his brother. And he told everyone sitting near us too that his brother was up there singing. I'm glad they both had a great night.

My sweet, sweet Aden
On our way to today's Easter Egg Hunt, Aden told Ethan, "God is everywhere.... He's up in those clouds, He is in our hearts, He is on those leaves, He is in the flowers...." and on and on. I am one proud mom. Now excuse me while I find something to wipe my teary eyes.
Happy Easter 2012!
Praise God for this day. And we are fortunate to be able to spend this time with family. Here are some photos I took of the kids the other day at Grandma's house. Aren't these kids so beautiful? (What? No I'm not biased.)
Yes, it's Sluffy.
I love how Ethan says fluffy ("sluffy") so much that I'm only slightly ashamed to admit I don't correct him. He has always loved fluffy things since the first day he was born. He still asks for his sluffy blanket, his sluffy kitty and gets really put out if the pajamas I put on him at night aren't "sluffy enough." Oh Ethan, how incredibly adorable you are. If I ask him, "Is your blanket fluffy enough?" He'll say, "Yes, it's sluffy." Melt my heart!

Almost Diaper FREE!
I'm so excited for my baby boy - Ethan has been potty trained now for about two weeks! He peed in the potty at school one day after a long run of sitting on the potty but not really doing anything, and once he realized how this potty thing was supposed to go he ran with it. We didn't really have a lot of accidents, although this is still new so... knock on wood. He just really "got it."
We're still working on overnight training. He wakes up dry about half the time so we're not ready yet to go completely diaper free. But we are oh so close! Happy Good Friday indeed!
