Louisiana Wedding

Over the Memorial Day weekend we headed to Louisiana to see Jill's cousin Kyle get married. It all started with a fun cajun rehearsal dinner outside. Ethan and cousin Kayla had a ball playing together in the coolers and tipping over buckets of sand.

Than after the wedding on Saturday, we headed out to a local plantation for the reception. There was good food and live music, too!

All in all, it was a great wedding and we had a wonderful time. Congrats Kyle and Haylie!

Something's Cooking!

Ethan loves being in the kitchen with us. I don't know if it's because we watch too much Food Network or if it's because of all of the shiney objects and stuff he's not supposed to touch.

But whenever he's not scarfing down food, he wants us to hold him up so he can see whatever we're slicing, dicing, mixing, or sauteing. Now, I don't know if you have ever tried mixing/cleaning/baking with one arm, but it can get pretty difficult. So to keep us from getting over-developed left arm bicepts from holding Ethan so much, we pulled ouy our step stool so he can climb up and be part of the action.

First, he looks in with us as we consult the cookbook:

Next, the little dude helps peel and mash potatoes. His favorite is mashed sweet potatoes!

After dinner, he even helps out with making Jello for dessert!

And what would a Jello dessert be without some whipped cream to go on top. Ethan likes it when I do dessert with him - he get to sneak in a taste while Mom has her back turned!

And his talents don't stop with cooking. He's also an expert at ordering pizza should anything disasterous happen in the kitchen...

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

We started off Daddy's Birthday Weekend grilling burgers. Daddy and Ethan decided to have a sword fight while they waited for the cheese to melt.
We ate Carl's BBQ for lunch today and Ethan woke up just in time to take a cute picture. He's been putting his hands in his overalls lately as if they're pockets!
Before Daddy had to leave for Washington, Ethan and Daddy played "Bam Bam" (aka GOLF). It's already feeling like Houston summer, so to cool off, Daddy shared his Orange Creamsicle with Ethan. Happy 29th Birthday, Daddy!

16 Months Old!

Today Ethan turned 16 months old. The biggest development over the past months has been his climbing. He climbs on chairs, coffee tables, and today he was able to climb up on our bed! It's a good thing we have such cat-like reflexes!

As he gets bigger, his ability to stay in one place for any length of time becomes smaller. So we had to slightly change our monthly picture...

While the Boy is Away....

Last weekend Ethan went to spend the night at GM and GP's house then on Saturday they went with Uncle Keith to the zoo!

And while Ethan was away, did Mom and Dad just take it easy, party, and sleep in?
You bet we did!
But first thing Saturday morning (after we eventually woke up and had a liesurly breakfast), we painted our entry way and dining room. We took it from "Builder Beige"...

...To wonderful Koala and Bracken:
And in the dining room we put in a chair rail too.

So that's one more "new home project" to mark of the list! And, um, a "few" more to go!

Outside Influence

As Ethan keeps growing, he loves to play outside more and more. He's becoming quite the climber:

And when he's done practicing mowing the lawn, I might actually let him do it for real!!

And when Daddy picks up his golf clubs, Ethan isn't too far behind!
