5th Grade Celebrations

Graduating from 5th grade is a big deal around here.  When I left 6th grade (that's when we left elementary), we had a little ceremony and called it good.  Around these parts, we kicked it off with a dance party on Friday, graduation Tuesday night and topped it off with a  breakfast on Wednesday.  I think they were tired of all the fan fare by the end.  They danced their little hearts out at the dance and worked up a prime sweat.  DJ Tony is the cure to any party.  All the kids were dancing and having a great time.

We went with a Bon Voyage theme and took it to the next level.  Nikki was in charge of decorations and she did a fabulous job with her vision.

Because I don't know where else to document something like this... Jackson's nose pickers are out of control.  Every time I go to clip them I can't find a pair of clippers.  Time to teach him how to do it.

Not to take anything away from the boys but...this is the reason horizontal stripes are a no-no.  My questions is:  why do they make everything with horizontal stripes?  Half my wardrobe looks like this.  Just a little side note.

The bow ties were the twins request.  They wanted to look especially dapper.  And I think they succeeded.  #readyforworkatinandout

Lulu has been at Bartlett with the boys all 6 years.  She has been Jackson's keeper and reminder to keep his fingers out of his nose.  She's so very mature.

Leighton towering above the rest. We sat on his side so I didn't get a picture of Jackson.  I am sure he will forgive me.

Grandpa and Grandpa Bateman were there an hour before things started.  They wouldn't have missed this.  Eric was away working so I was glad they could be there.

Mr. Strano is their art teacher.  The boys sure have enjoyed having him.  I dug up this old citation Leighton received years ago while under Mr. Strano's watchful eye:)

Zane is their good buddy.  He goes to church with them, participates in scouts, and they hang out on the weekends.  He's a great example to the twins.

These certificates had to be included because this is the first time they have received this award!  They worked really hard to achieve this and were rewarded with a family dinner out to Grimaldi's, a little moola and Krispy Kreme donuts.  Krispy Kreme gives free donuts for A's.  Great motivation.

The summer is upon us and we are excited to go to Washington for a little reprieve from this heat (116 the other day) and spend time with family.  We deserve a break today!

She's moving on up!

Greenspun Jr. High held their 8th grade promotion Wednesday, May 29 at Green Valley High School. It was a wonderful evening bringing 3 years of junior high to a close for Kennedy.  She couldn't be happier.  As parents, we are in awe of her accomplishments.  She asked me not to post them here but I can say that she is a Straight A student across the board and we were never asked to visit the dean over discipline issues:)

Grace and Kennedy are like sisters and I am glad they have each other.

James and Kari are like family and I am glad we have each other.

Grandpa and Grandma Bateman are like grandparents.  Oh wait, they are her grandparents!  They've been so supportive and were thrilled to be a part of her graduation.

This one is for the wedding album - Hunter and Kennedy.  Just kidding, maybe.  You never know.

As risque as it gets for Kennedy.

She's a true beauty!  Congratulations Kennedy on surviving and thriving the last 3 years!  We love you.
