Mother May I?

...take a moment and and reflect...
April went by and then May and now it's June! I am so glad I have pictures to jog my memory and remind me that we were present and busy.  I may sound like a broken record, but I cannot believe how fast time is passing.

Mother's Day is always a favorite of mine because I am reminded of everything that is right with the world through these four.  It's also the one day out of the year where they try really hard not to fight.  I use the "it's mother's day" card all day and don't feel a bit guilty.

Leighton is trying out for "Dallas" and doing his best J.R. Ewing impression (you have to be my age and older to get that).

The twins are taller than Kennedy and I. We just had 3 inch heels on.

My kids know how to take a goofy picture but I need to work on it.

Dinner out for mother's day has become the tradition.  We ate at a local Italian restaurant and didn't leave a drop of food in our wake.  No one can fault us for wasting food:)

Boston whipped up this gigantic card and enlisted everyone else to give their two cents.  These are the gifts I cherish.

Jackson sharing his art and poetry.  He's going to make a lady very happy some day.

Diet Coke with the VIP  was a special touch too.  The carnation is a gift from the ward.

Well checks/physicals have gotten easier these days.  I just schedule all the boys together and we huddle into the tiny room and make lots of noise so the doctor comes in immediately.  Hernia checks were memorable to say the least.  I am sure Dr. Crystal Sierra went home and had a story to share at dinner.

National little league day gave us all a good reason to go to an Astros game.  We enjoyed a relaxing day at the ball park with food, conversation, running of the bases, sleeping and studying (Kennedy),  a fist fight courtesy of the twins and a little hand holding also courtesy of the twins (punishment as they were walking out of the stadium).  The relaxing part is always short lived.

Boston was very lucky. He caught a ball thrown by George Springer and also snatched a t-shirt thrown up in the stands.

That studying I was talking about.

Jackson wanted in on the action and joined Boston running the bases.  He's in the black shirt and tan shorts close to 2nd base.

The twins played another season of rec basketball and seem to be the lucky charm for their teams.  They won the championship again!  They are fun to watch and improve with each game.  Jackson had a game high 10 points one game.  Leighton was the resident tongue hanger-outer.

Kennedy and Danielle worked together for a Spanish project and as usual, took it to another level.  They got into character while making a cooking video, showing how to make cookies.  They had to speak Spanish the whole time.  It was hilarious and the cookies were delicious too.

Boston and his buddy Nic seem to be inseparable as of late.  It's always great to have a best friend.

Kennedy ran for office at her school.  This theme is very ironic because Kennedy has hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating).  Her hands and feet seem to take the brunt of it.

Even though she didn't win, I was so proud of her for putting herself out there.  She's still going to be serving in student council as she was asked by the powers that be to take on another role.  She's thrilled to be a part of it all.

Eric is the boys scout leader which means everything is done in a bigger, better way.  They held a huge yard sale and sold smoked brisket sandwiches.  Now you just don't get up the morning of a yard sale and decide to have a sale.  There is so much prep involved!  They spent four weekends gathering donated items from our community and ward.  They spent a couple days purchasing, preparing, and smoking the brisket.  The actual day of the sale was hot, hot hot!  Add 10 scouts that need constant reminding to stay on task and you could possibly be admitted if you don't keep the bigger purpose in the forefront.

Cutting the fat and film off the meat and seasoning. A friend that is  serious barbecuer held their hand through the process and let them use his garage to learn the ropes (thank you Luke).

Luke and his father-in-law, Randy Brashier, spent most of the day smoking the meat as we were watching Boston play in an all star game.  The meat was cooked the weekend before the actual event then boiled and served the day of. Genius.

Flash frozen.  These people are professionals.  So grateful they volunteered their time and service to the boy scouts.  Our community is full of people like this.

Eric was in his element as were the twins and Kennedy.  Me, I'd almost rather be tortured than have a yard sale.  Believe me I was there but don't have a single picture to prove it. I was too busy:)

June 1, 2015 marked our one year anniversary to Texas so we went back to the basics - Rudy's.  This is where we came the minute we got off the plane last year.

The last day of school Jackson went to pizza with some friends and insisted Leighton wasn't invited.  Well we showed him.  Leighton and I enjoyed a pleasant lunch at a local Italian restaurant, just the two of us.

Boston doing what he loves to do - playing or watching baseball.

The 3rd grade from Cline Elementary were treated to a field at Minute Maid stadium where the Astros play.  Boston and his buddies had a great time.

Boston wanted to show me how he bats left handed - he's left handed but bats right - so I went to the batting cages and pitched to him.  I was quite impressed with his skills and decided I needed to give the ole batting cage a try.  I put on Boston's batting helmet  and took it like a man. (Don't mind the fuzzy picture.  Boston was the photographer.) It's scarier than I thought but I managed to hit a few.  In fact, I hit one so hard that it ricocheted off the top of the batting cage and came down and hit Boston in the head. Panic set in but after rubbing it for a bit he realized he was going to be okay.  See, he's all smiles below.

We decided that a family that eats together, must exercise together so we broke down and joined the YMCA.  So far, we've really enjoyed the membership and are taking full advantage of it.  Hoping to head back to school in August with more muscle and speed.  There's no time like the present.  That's what I tell myself every morning the alarm goes off, and then I go back to sleep:) Summer is upon us.  Yay!
