When I was born my Dad was stationed in Green Bay, WI as a Navy Recruiter. We moved shortly after I turned two and I haven't stopped moving since. Next year on June 30th Eric will be done with residency and we will be moving to....Wisconsin!! Last week Eric and I went to Kenosha, WI for a job interview. Eric has been very proactive about looking for employment once his residency is done and started sending out resumes at the end of his first year. Last June Eric sent in a resume to a clinic in Kenosha and things have been moving ever since.
Step One: Eric saw a small blurb in a podiatry journal email about a job in WI that was driving distance to Chicago and a few other tidbits about the practice. On Sunday he sent in his CV and Letter of Introduction.
Step Two: On Monday morning Dr. Cernak called and pretty much offered Eric the job. After a few more emails and phone calls back and forth the clinic tickets were purchased for Eric and I to fly out and meet everyone and do a more formal interview.
Step Three: Eric and I flew out on Wednesday and after the circus that is the airlines got to Chicago at 7:30. Dr. Cernak picked us up at the airport with her daughter and they took us out for a very yummy dinner. On Thursday Eric spent the day at the clinic and I went around and looked at apartments. That night we had dinner at a country club with Dr. Cernak, Dr. Vargas (another doctor in the practice), Deborah (the office manager) and Jamie (a local realtor and close friend of Dr. Cernak's). On Friday Eric hung out at the clinic again while I finished us seeing things in town and then we headed home.
Step Four: Saturday morning Eric and I got up and went to the temple to seek confirmation about the decision. We both left knowing that this was the path to pursue.
Step Five: Now Eric is the stages of hashing out the details of the contract. And then we wait ................................................................................................................................... for eleven months until Eric finishes residency.
