2 of my new favorite things

1. Swami's Cafe
It's in Encinitas (Thank you Brooke for introducing me to this gold mine - I've been 3 time's this past week, is that wrong? - don't worry I'm not planning on getting a job there anytime soon).

2. Acai Bowls The Acai Bowls are AMAZING!!! They have an assortment of fresh berries including, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries in addition, bananas, granola, coconut, bee pollen and lots more delicious goodness. To sum it up it’s simply phenomenal. You can see for yourself why I can’t wait to go back and order this small piece of paradise again soon.

Fun with the Thompsonettes

Mercedes and Dustin came for a visit and to attend a wedding this past week and we had a ton of fun. There were nights of laughter reminiscing about the good ol’ high school days, and then there was the night of…crocheting??? What the… So I was working on a little hat for their adorable baby when Mercedes asked if she could learn. Of course I was completely delighted and the two of us began. When Dustin found out what we were doing he wanted in too. So picture this... it’s the three of us sitting on the couch, me in the middle, each of us with a ball of yarn and a crochet hook. I’m totally laughing right now just thinking of this. Long story short, both Dustin and Mercedes learned how to make the beanies and I think Dustin in particular is are ready to go into business (you know if the whole engineering thing doesn’t work out Dustin you’ve totally got an in!) So much fun, thanks guys for humoring me, Eric has never once asked for a crocheting lesson, there's still hope, right?!?!

Look at this little angel!

Always a good time!

The Squirt

Eric’s brother, Johnny (or Squirt, as the family likes to refer to him as) joined us here last week for his spring break. Although Eric and I had to work all week we had sometime to spend in the evenings together and on the weekend. We had an enjoyable time together.
The boys went on the USS Midway down in San Diego while I looked for the whale that was spotted in the bay, I didn't have any luck but it was sure a pretty day.
We also went to this place in Encinitas called the Self Realization Fellowship Center that has really lovely gardens and is very peaceful. Oh yeah and best of all, it's free, always a plus!

The good and the bad

The outside of my classroom :)
Inside my classroom :)
The good:
Finished report cards a week ago
My classroom is almost all set up for Open House next week
I love my class
Teaching 3rd grade is the best!

The bad:
On Friday I received a “Pink Slip” (which to my surprise was not pink) along with a bunch of other important looking documents. The Pink Slip basically stated that due to budget cuts they will not be guaranteeing me a teaching position for next year. These notices were handed out to teachers who have been hired in the district within the last 5 years, (242 teachers). Pretty crazy. So I’m trying to be “Cautiously Optimistic” as my sweet dad put it. I’m praying for the best and hoping I’ll still have a job next year.

Still good deals!

Just in case you were still wondering... YES, there are still good deals to be had. All this at Vons last week $5.50!
