Bath time at Bobbi's house
Gordon loves taking baths at his Bobbi's house. He can't stop laughing and smiling when Bobbi gives Gordon his baths. In addition, Gordon loves playing with her fish bath toys. We love being at Bobbi's house!!!

Gordonism #6
The other week we were riding in the car home from school
when I noticed Gordon was in the back of the car picking his nose.
Me: “Gordon sweetheart, do you need a Kleenex?”
Gordon: “No Mommy (he digs back in his nose and says) You
eat it.
Me: “Yucky Goosey we don’t eat that we put it in a Kleenex
and throw it away.
Gordon: “Mommy, mine eat it.
Oh kids!!! He is going to thank me for remembering and writing this
down years from now.

The flu strikes
I woke up yesterday not feeling 100% but I seriously can't remember the last time I had the flu. In the morning I poured myself a bowl of cereal and ate only 2 bites and decided I couldn't possibly eat another bite. Not thinking that I could possibly be sick (just thinking it's something pregnancy related) I dropped Gordon off at Kathy's house and then hurried to work. When I got to work I continued to feel worse and worse. At one point I'm at my desk sweating and then the next I'm shivering and my nails are turning blue (a great trait I inherited from my dad!).
At any rate about 30 minutes later I actually felt like I was going to throw up so I had a colleague watch my class as I ran down the hall to use the bathroom. As soon as I got there I was fine, so I walked back to class. However, as soon as I got back to class it struck like a 100 pounds of bricks. I quickly ran and got the garbage can in my classroom and placed it behind my desk and ducked in the corner. It was horrible, I couldn't stop throwing up. Luckily the class was engaged in a fun activity and Christmas music was playing so I'm hoping too many of them didn't notice. Also, lucky for me too the bell rang for the kids to go out for lunch about 5 minutes after that. Oh it was the longest day of my life. I'm thankful to be feeling a bit better today and I'm praying Gordon and Eric don't get it! Tis the season!

Really???
Today during after school duty, this little boy walked by me holding his dad's hand. The boy was probably in 1st or 2nd grade. As he walked by me he looked me in the eyes, then looked at my pregnant stomach, and then believe it or not he actually took his pointer finger and poked me in the stomach HARD!!! Without thinking I blurted out, "REALLY??? ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!" His dad was completely oblivious and just kept on walking. The little boy, actually laughed out loud and then with a smile on his face walked away. No sorry, no excuse me, no are you okay. Sure he was probably only about 7 but still I couldn't believe it. I would be mortified if Gordon did that to someone! I was talking to my darling grandmother after school and she was ready to knock this "little punk" (as she called him) out for me. It's great to know that even my 86 year old grandma has my back!!!

Oma and Opa
Over Thanksgiving Gordon got to spend some time with his Oma and Opa. He also had fun looking at fish with Aunt Hanni on her phone.
Gordon found Oma's glasses and thought it was fun to try them on.
He also had a push-up contest with Uncle Mike.

Mrs. Grossmans Sticker Factory
While we were home for Thanksgiving we went to Mrs. Grossman's sticker factory in Petaluma. You go on a little tour of the factory and collect stickers on the way. At the end of the tour you get to make a little art project with the stickers. It's a fun thing to take children on (minus the fact that Gordon just wanted to frolic about and not stay with the group, that was the only hard part.) He liked the project and liked all the stickers his Bobbi bought him at the end. Thanks mom for the fun event!

Coming out!
So apparently I had my "Coming out" party about my pregnancy with my students at school just this Tuesday, which is hilarious. I mean check out this side view of me at 27 weeks. This is when we were home for Thanksgiving and went for a lovely walk with both of our families.
Anyway, back to my coming out party... So on Tuesday toward the end of school I was telling my students that there would be a guest teacher there the next day since I had a doctors appointment. After telling them about how I expected great behavior, etc...etc. One of my students raises his hand and says:
"Mrs. K. what is your doctors appointment for?"
Me: (I glance at my enormous tummy and say) "Any guesses boys and girls?"
Class: (All 30 students staring at me blankly).
Me.: "Well, Gordon is going to have a baby sister named Ruby soon. I'm having a baby."
Class: (Cheering and clapping)
Boy who asked the question: "Mrs. K. Does anyone else know about this or are we the first to know? Oh the other teachers will be so surprised, I can't believe you are having a baby, I had no idea!"
I have to say, whenever you need a little self esteem boost, hang out with 30 3rd graders and you'll feel like a million bucks. Daily I'm telling Eric how uncomfortable I'm feeling and how even my MATERNITY clothes are too small. I'm so much bigger with this pregnancy than I was with Gordon. So it was nice to know my students didn't seem to mind or notice my growing stomach. I do love teaching!

Christmas Movie
Eric and I watched this Friday night for date night and man it sure never gets old year after year. For some good laughs give it a watch (although warning... we forgot about some of the colorful language and a few parts we had to fast forward.)

25 Days of Christmas Traditions
I really like the website LDS Living. Today I found this post that had 25 Days of Christmas memories. Some we have already started and some I can't wait to adopt.

The Elf on the Shelf
We started this new little Christmas Tradition in our family and let me tell you it's a hit! We are only about a week into it (yes we started in November... but I did start listening to Christmas music November 2nd, so I figured it was time to get the Christmas spirit started early in our house as wel). Anyway "Elf" of "Mr. Elf" has hid in several spots around the house and the first thing Gordon says when he wakes up is, "Where my Elf" and "Where my Christmas tree." Gordon loves that the Elf plays hide and seek and can't wait to find his new hiding spot.

Chocolate Peppermint Loaf Mix
Yes I have found yet another Trader Joe's gem! My last TJ's shopping trip lead me to this tasty treat. Unfortunately I ate almost the whole cake myself but oh it was super delicious! Next time I head to TJ's I will be sure to pick up several more boxes of this (along with the Chocolate covered Peppermint Joe-Joe's).

Santa Gordon
Aunt Hanni gave Gordon some darling little Santa PJ's and Gordon does not want to take them off now. In fact he decided to wear them to Kathy's house today, oh that cutie! Speaking of Santa Gordon, he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, his Christmas tree. We put up our little Charlie Brown Christmas tree over the weekend and Gordon enjoys just standing in front of it and looks at all of his ornaments. So happy Christmas is here. More on Christmas, Trees, Ornaments, and Baby Jesus to come.

Gordon the Potty Trainer
Gordon has decided that he wants to be a potty trainer now!!! So exciting. At Kathy's house she has this little blue potty and we decided to get one for the house here, great idea! Gordon is so tickled when he uses the potty. As soon as he knows he needs to use the bathroom he shouts, "Mommy mine pee!" or "Mommy mine potty!" He then makes a bee line to the bathroom. As soon as he finishes, he sprints out of the bathroom (pantsless of course) back into the living room to tell his daddy about what just took place. It's been pretty cute and funny to watch this little guy in action. He also loves his little Cars underwear, "Mine underwears!" he says with excitement as he pulls them on (usually backwards or even inside out!). I sometimes wonder if we have children just so that we can be amused. Whatever the reason, we are loving it (minus the occasional tantrums when we have to put a diaper on for a car ride or bed time :).

Gordon is thankful for his Bobbi
As we say our nightly prayers Gordon has decided that he wants to take a more active part in praying. In fact, he generally wants to say the prayer. As he bear hugs himself and closes his eyes for 2 seconds he says, "Thank you Bobbi, Bobbie... AMEN!!!" Gordon loves his Grandma Bobbi and remembers her in his nightly prayers, so precious.

Happy Thanksgiving
I am thankful for so much!!! Just to name a few of the things I'm thankful for include my family & friends, God/church, motherhood, good health, education/being a teacher, nature/Gods amazing creations on Earth, beautiful music... and the list goes on and on and on. We have so much for be grateful for everyday. As my sweet mother always says, "Count your blessings!" How right she is! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Daddy's Apples
Eric likes apples and eats at least an apple or 2 a day. Because of this, whenever Gordon sees an apple he refers to them as "Daddy's Apples." Each time we go to the store Gordon makes sure we buy enough Daddy's Apples. Last week as I was packing lunches, I got out an apple for Eric's lunch. Gordon saw the apple and knew that it was for Eric. I don't think he realized that it was for his lunch but one thing he did know was that Eric was suppose to have it. Eric was just getting out of the shower when Gordon ran upstairs and proudly presented Eric with a Daddy's Apple. It was very cute. I heard Eric say, "Oh thanks Gordon did you bring me a Daddy's Apple?" To this Gordon confidently declared a loud, "YEAH!" I love that Gordon associates Eric with apples.

Gordonism #4
As we were driving home from work last Tuesday we drove past Carl's Jr. All of a sudden Gordon starts shouting, "Look Mommy, Look... a yellow STARFISH!!!!!!!" He was so elated. What a blessing it is to see life through a child's eyes.

Date night at Target
Gordon loves going to the store to play with trains and cars. In fact, Eric and I spend our date night there last Friday night. It was actually pretty hilarious. Eric found us both stools and we sat and watched Gordon play for sometime. He was in heaven and we were loving getting to talk and catch up on our day. Seriously the things we do for our kids, it's great and I wouldn't change it for anything!

Ouch!!!
This past week Gordon was playing with his trains and jumped and fell on the wheel of one of them. Instantly he was screaming and we couldn't believe it but it actually took out a big chunk of his skin, poor baby! The first few days he was limping around like crazy and just wanted to be held (Eric loved this!) However, this was a few days after the accident and he proudly showed me his battle wound.

When is it okay
I saw this on a blog the other day and I burst out laughing. I have a coworker that constantly makes comments about how she can't believe how I have just "popped." In addition, she informs me that (with my size) it is possible for me to have a 10 or 11 pound baby (oh heaven help me if that is the case!!!) Her intentions are good I know but hearing how "large" I'm getting on a daily basis is just silly. Life is so good though and I'm reminded of my favorite saying, "Come what may and love it!"

Skipping Chrismas
For November/December book club this month we are reading, Skipping Christmas. I'm only 50 pages into it but am enjoying the story and am seeing some parallels in our own lives. I'm hoping for a relaxing Christmas and one centered on the real meaning not the frantic running around that so often we get caught up in. I've already started listening to Christmas music in my classroom and also in the car as of November 2nd (Eric thinks I'm nuts but still loves and supports me!) It's already putting me in the holiday spirit.
The basic premise of this story "focuses on how Luther and Nora Krank try to avoid the frenzy traditionally experienced during the Christmas holiday. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the two bring their daughter Blair to the airport, where she departs for a year-long assignment in a remote area of Peru with the Peace Corps. Nora bemoans the fact the upcoming Christmas will be their first time they are separated as a family, prompting her husband to calculate how much they spent celebrating the holidays the prior year. When he realizes they have little to show for the $6,100 they invested in decorations, gifts, and entertaining, he decides to skip all the hubbub at home and surprise Nora by booking a ten-day Caribbean Cruise aboard the Island Princess. Nora at first is skeptical but accepts the idea under one condition to still give a donation to the church and Children's Hospital of $600. At first Luther refuses, but when she refuses the idea otherwise he agrees and they begin to plan the trip."
This wouldn't be a far stretch of something I could see Eric and I doing (not sure if that is a good thing or bad yet!)

Just look at those curls
The great debate in our house lays within Gordon's precious locks. I say we keep them and don't cut them. Eric says we "trim" which essentially means the curls are gone. I just can't get enough of these little ringlets. They are so precious, we have no idea where they came from but I'm sure glad they are here.
Book Club Meeting
This past month for book club we met at Emily's house and she did a murder mystery dinner. We had a lot of fun and I almost lost it when I saw some of the costumes. The dinner was themed around a Miss America beauty pageant. Most of the girls took the 80's route and funny it was I was Miss Alaska (a business woman). I was thankful for this part because I wore this "business" looking jacket over my dress since my belly is growing at a rapid rate and I couldn't even zip up the dress I wore just a month earlier at Meghan's wedding, so pathetic. Oh well, it was a lot of fun!

Halloween 2012
Mr. Gordon wore his McQueen Cars costume that Tina gave him. He loved it! Since Gordon hadn't been feeling well the day before Halloween it was looking doubtful that we were going to be doing any trick-or-treating. However, as night approached he seemed to be feeling better. We asked him if he wanted to go and "surprise" people with his new costume. He loves surprising people and his little eyes lit up at the idea of this. We walked around to a few of our neighbors houses and Gordon enjoyed ringing the doorbell and saying surprise. After about 6 houses Gordon sat down in our neighbors driveway and decided he was done and was going to take his shoes off. We had to "fly" him home and then sort out all of the loot (all 6 pieces). It was super cute!
Gordon is telling me what kind of candy he wants to have, he chose the Lifesaver gummies and ate about 3 of them.
Grandma Bobbi got Gordon a purple pumpkin, blessed, blessed Bobbi!!!

Pumpkin Pie Bagels & Bread Bowls
Oh Halloween I went to buy bread bowls from Panera and was so happy to see they had a Pumpkin Pie Bagel. Of course I bought one for my breakfast the next morning and I was not disappointed it was delicious! Just another reason I love fall! I made some homemade potato and corn soup for our dinner, it was yummy especially in the bread bowls.

Gordonism #3
To preface this, Gordon was running around the kitchen and he ran into the cupboards and skinned his elbow on the side of the cupboard. He didn't cry but was upset. He told Eric what had happened and Eric gave him a little kiss to make it better. Gordon ran to me to report what had happened.
"Mommy!! Mommy!! Daddy kissed my Elmo and made it all better!"

Sick Boy...not for long
Last Monday I picked Gordon up from Kathy's house and he was laying on her lap with a little fever. We have been so lucky that Gordon has not been sick in I don't know how long. It was sad though to see him without any energy. In fact, on the ride home from work he actually fell asleep (this never happens). When we got home he sat on the couch for a few hours watching tv (this too never happens). Eric was finally able to coax him into taking some medicine to reduce his fever. Literally within 20 minutes he was saying he was hungry, ready to eat popcorn (his request), and was running around the kitchen island. How grateful I am for modern medicine. He went to sleep in his big boy bed and didn't wake up until the morning.
Speaking of big boy beds, nights number 1 and 2 of sleeping in his new bed were horrendous (he got out more than I can count). However, the last week we have been on the up and up. We now tuck him into bed and he hasn't gotten out until the morning, it has been wonderful, let's hope this continues.

While in La Jolla
While we were visiting the temple we had to head to La Jolla Cove to enjoy the sea lions, fresh salt air, and the crisp water. It was great!

We love to see the temple
While the sibling were here we headed down to La Jolla to see the temple. Gordon loved running around on the beautifully manicured lawns and gazing at all of the purple flowers. It was a hot but gorgeous day there.
