What a Surprise!

It looks like we have a healthy baby boy headed our way! We had an anatomy sonogram yesterday where they measured his head, belly, and legs and checked the umbilical cord, placenta, heart, kidneys, stomach, and bladder...all seems well!! Praise the Lord! We even got to see his precious face! :0) But we can't quite tell who he looks like yet!

Jon wasn't able to be there (he's off with the boys in KY ;0), but my wonderful in-laws and Jon's twin, Jeff, were there! It was a wonderful experience for all of us!

Thankfully, the radiologist did say that he's on the small side (woohoo for momma!). On the funny side, the radiologist said the only BIG thing about him is his THIGHS!!! Who would have guessed? When I called Jon to tell him the scoop, I mentioned what the radiologist had said about Baby Jon-Boy's thighs.
His first response was, "Oh Yeah, he's takin' after his daddy!"
(quite emphatically and very excited)

If you have ever seen Jon, you know the truth...

Of course my response was, "WHAT?!? He definitely takes after his MOMMA!"

But then I reflected for a second, very thankful that Jon had not made this observation himself. :0)

Thank you, sweetie, for letting me off the hook. ;0)

Praise the Lord for babies, whether healthy or sick...He forms them perfectly with His mighty hand! There are NO surprises with Him! He made every part ON PURPOSE!

Baby Birdie!!! Best(er) News of the Year!!!

This family has gone DOUBLE PREGO!!! My wonderful sister Kaye and her s-duper husband, Scott, are pregnant!!

WOO!!! HOO!!!

I can't tell you how excited I am to be pregnant with my sister!! This makes being pregnant even MORE fun!!!

And can I tell you something else?!!?!?!?!? OUR BABIES WILL BE FRIENDS!!! Their little one is due seven weeks behind us! October 21st Baby Birdie will be here!! Praise Jesus!!

We're already experiencing some of the same funnies of prego-cy. Geez, it's like we're RELATED or something! Here are a couple:

-We're both losing our minds. Our husbands are learning patience on a whole new level.
-We both craved horribly unhealthy food in our first trimesters...the yucky tummy stage.

Ok, so I think all women get those. But it's still fun to be sisters and pregnant! :0) If we think of others, I'll let you know.

Just wanted to share the fun news!!! YEA SCOTT & KAYE!!!

What Power

Jon and I usually read a chapter of the Bible together before bed...right now we're in 2 Samuel. But last night, Jon randomly picked 1 Timothy 2 to read. Vs. 8 really struck me. The context is in the instructions for worship. It gives directions for prayer, then for men and women. As we were reading, we came across this powerful verse that we've read, I'm sure, a million times. But this time, it really stuck out to me.

"I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing."

What a powerful challenge and vision. Men EVERYWHERE, united in prayer, and full of humble, gracious peace. What a blessing that would be! As we pray for our men-- for their fellowship, accountability, and sharpening-- what a guide we have! This is the heart of God (among many other things) for men in worship! Thank you Jesus for your Word!

Shake Your Grove Thing

So Baby Estes (my mom calls him baby Jon-Boy) apparently doesn't only like Jars of Clay. He's obviously also a huge fan of Living Hope's worship team! At Saturday night church he was movin all around to the music! Praisin' Jesus from the womb!
I can't help but love the song that says, "Let everything that's IN ME praise the Lord!"

I just HAD to tell you!!

In the midst of TONS of homework and projects, I just HAD to tell you a fun, fun story!

Lots of people have been asking me if I've put headphones on my belly yet...to let the baby listen to music or a sermon. Well, I haven't-- until tonight! While working on homework, I took a break to find some headphones and then carefully selected the baby's first introduction to music. Of course, my first choice would have been someone like Sarah Groves, Nichole Nordeman, or Ginny Owens...but I thought since he's a BOY, that I should give him something more to his liking. So, of course, the obvious next choice was the all-time, never disappointing-- Jars of Clay.

So there I was taping earbud headphones (all I could find) onto my belly. I pressed play and suddenly he was MOVING LIKE CRAZY!!! It was amazing! I've felt flutters before, but this was CLEARLY MOVEMENT!! It was so amazing! I figure this baby was either hating it, or dancing like crazy and lovin' every bit of it (the more likely option...of course, it was Jars of Clay...who doesn't like Jars of Clay??) !!

I called Jon (in San Antonio) immediately to celebrate our musical baby!! It was such a blessing to feel him move around so much! Forget the soccer player, this baby's gonna be a musician!! :0)
