Kyler's Literacy Celebration

Kyler's class had a Literacy Celebration that the parents were invited to attend.  We were served popcorn and lemonade and then we got to watch all the kids perform in plays!  Kyler was in the play titled "Mr. Popsicle".  He played the part of  "baby" and "boy on bike".  I did video his play and will work on getting it uploaded.  He did a great job, all the kids did!  It was so fun!!
when he was the baby he was being sad he couldn't have that yummy orange popsicle
here he is as "boy on bike" trying to chase down that delicious orange popsicle
 taking a bow
these are the signs he wore
Kyler was chosen by his teacher as an outstanding student.  Each teacher gets to choose 2 students for the whole year!!!!  She wrote a really nice note on the back of his crown as to why she picked him (my camera had died by then).  He got to be on the morning announcements and they presented him with his crown!!!  Way to go Kyler...we are so proud of you!!!!  :o)
all the 2nd graders got to bring home this bag of fun learning books and games to do during the summer!  What an awesome school we have!!!!!

Austin

Austin was invited to the 8th grade awards ceremony and walked away with this awesome certificate!  He got this from his Science teacher.  He does love science!  He also got the Honor Roll award!  Austin has had a fantastic 8th grade year!!  He has told me for a while that he is an Academic Genius!  I guess he is right...no lack of self-esteem on his part! :o)
(thanks to Leah for being so quick with her camera...my phone was not cooperating!)
Also...I am anxious to get his desk back home.  We took it back to the school along with the chair he made to go with it for the Katy District Wood Show.  He placed 3rd in the district in the Jr. High level!!!!  WAHOO!!!!  Someone offered his woodshop teacher $500 to buy it but I told Austin "NO WAY!"  Some day that will be a special keepsake and he can say to his grandkids, 'Look what gramps made in 8th grade!'

Kyler's Drawings

Kyler drew these free hand while looking at pictures in a book he bought at the book fair this week.  He loves to draw and is pretty good at it!!
I need to have hime sign these!
{{So I am posting these because my wonderful friend Leah has inspired me for years to be a better blogger!  This really is the way I can do my family history!  I love that she always takes pictures of certifaicates and papers to remember things!  I just don't have the time to keep up with my scrapbooks like I want to right now, so my goal is to be better at taking pics and being a better blogger!  Then i can just send all this to be made into a book and maybe some of my guilt will go away!}}

Tyson's 4th grade Poetry Book

Ty had a Literacy Celebration at school the other day!  It was so fun.  We went to the Poetry Cafe and were served lemonade and cookies.  We listened to jazz music and got to hear kids read the poetry they had written.  Then we went to another room and got to see Geometric Photo Stories that the kids put together. They took pictures around the school of different shapes they have been learning about and made a video with music on the computer!  (impressive)  I am going to try to get the video of Ty reading his poems uploaded later but for now here is his book!  Read the poems cuz they are fun!!!!  :o)

He did say that he forgot to add my "supportive" mom & dad
This is hilarious to me!  oops...he forgot the "m" in Fullmer
also look at what he put for "R", I didn't catch that till I was taking this picture...we are gonna have to have a chat, little stinker!
my favorite brown is the one 6th up from the bottom
"Brown is the water at Galveston Bay"
We really are a masterpiece!!  :o)
oh and don't forget "Rotund"!!!!
 yum!!!!
This is one that Ty read during the readings.  He totally did some improve.  There is a sentence that says 'The author has written the lesser known Greek God Children" when he was up front reading he said "The author has written the lesser known "You don't want to make my dad angry"!!!  :o)  Shawn was there and Ty saw an opportunity to get a rise outta him and get a few laughs!!

Piano Recital

videos to come!

The Daileys came to see the kids play and Kyler was so glad to have Adam there!

Kailee and Ty hand their 2nd piano recital. They both did soooo great! I can't believe all the progress that they have made in a year! The theme was music from movies. Tyson played "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera. Kailee played "The Pink Panther".

San Antonio (twice)

For Tyson's birthday last September I gave him tickets for him and I to go see Wicked. It was going to be in San Antonio and he has been wanting to go for a while! We got a hotel room for the night! We dressed up and went down to the Riverwalk and had a super yummy steak dinner (Ty's choice)
We went to the theater and Ty was beside himself. It is quite old and has a neat history. (google it and read about it!) Our hotel room was right across the street so we had a fun view. One of Ty's favorite things about the theater was the elevator. There was an attendant in there and he had to hand crank it up and down! Tyson absolutely loved Wicked...you couldn't wipe the smile from his face and he talked about it non-stop for days and days!

A cool clock that still works from 1910 or so.

The next morning Tyson and I went down to the Riverwalk and walked around to sightsee and then went to a little cafe and had breakfast. We walked all around downtown and went to see the Alamo! Ty had been so anxious to go. As we walked up to it he turned to me and said "Mom, I can't believe I am actually here!"

My mom and dad came to visit from Seattle for the week in March. It was such a fun visit! We spent the day in San Antonio. We had so much fun I kept forgetting to get my camera out! Here are just a couple of pics though....
