Winter's has come!

I can't believe how the weather has changed! I was enjoying the nice 60 degree weather, and not having to bundle up. But alas, the winds of change. Now it is freezing, well this week is not too bad. I would rather have it snow a little bit every now and again, but dumping snow? With the cold weather, I brought out the hats my mom made for the kids in July. The other day, lil' L heard me telling lil' K we needed to get ready to leave (any one with kids knows you need plenty of time, thus it was nearly 20 minutes before we needed to be out the door). lil' L came up to me carrying his coat. I took it from him, asked if he wanted it on. lil' L stuck his hands out in front ready to put it on (a far cry from most times when he runs away). A few moments later, lil' L came up to me carrying his hat, handed it to me, mumbled some gibberish, and put his head down. I put the hat on and he was happy wearing both his coat and his hat. I took pictures of the kids wearing their new hats, heres a good one.

Viva Las Vegas!

Mondays seem to be the day I find time to write. But don't always count on it. About our trip. F had a conference to attend all week at the Rio (where we stayed). He had been telling me to join him, so about two weeks before, I decided to go. First time leaving lil' L, it was worth it. F left on Sunday night, I left on Tuesday afternoon.

When I got there, we walked around by Wynn, TI, Fashion Show, Mirage and grabbed some dinner.

Wednesday while F was away, I lounged

around in bed. When I did get up, I went and stood in line for 30 minutes to get half-price tickets to a show, walked around the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, and relaxed by the pool reading a book. F and I ate dinner at In-N-Out before the show. We saw a Japanese acrobatic show titled Matsuri. It was great! Not to mention, it is "appropriate for all ages." When we got back to the hotel, F challenged me to a penny slot duel. We each had $1 to use. I did quite well. I won $2! Woo Hoo!

Thursday, again I didn't leave the hotel until 10:30. Today, I headed to the Temple. After doing an endowment session, I did sealings. It is quite different doing everything by yourself. Then more shopping at an outlet mall. F and I stuffed ourselves at the Rio's world buffet. Great food! We walked it off at Excalibur, Luxor, Bellagio, Paris, etc. I love the shows at Bellagio, so we relaxed and watched a few.

Friday, we both headed home. Both lil' L and lil' K could not have cared less about us being home. The both had a great time with their grandparents. My parents and F's had the kids while we gone. I didn't have to worry about them, even leaving lil' L with the croup. Vegas is only good for a few days, then it's best to be home.

lil' L is Walking!

lil' L has mastered the art of walking, not to mention it was while F and I were away. He had been doing well, but now it is his preference. Children grow up too fast, which is why we are starting him with chores, before he fights about it. Actually, I had be sweeping and he was angry if I took the broom away, so I let him be, and captured some pictures. I will post about our get-a-way to Las Vegas another day.

Halloween, Halloween! Trick or Treat

I thought I would share our wonderful Halloween with everyone. We sure did have a busy day. The night before, lil' K and I carved a pumpkin as lil' L excitedly watched. At first lil' K did not want to touch the seeds and strings from inside the pumpkin, but after watching me do it, she got her hands dirty. Our creativity was bound by lil' K's perceptions of "jack-o-lantern" faces. So, it has the classic face. For the day of Halloween, we started bright and early in our costumes. lil' K has been waiting for a month now to wear her costume. She is Jasmine from Aladdin. Wearing her costume, she sings a little bit more sincerely during "A Whole New World." F and I found a Robin costume, but decided lil' L doesn't need to be his own side kick. "Holy inferiority complex, Batman!" We did find Batman, F prefers Superman, but since they didn't have a costume his size. Regardless, he is very cute little batman. Maybe next year he and F will dress up like Dr. Evil and Mini-me. F didn't dress up, but I dressed up like a witch. As for the festivities, I took the kids over to where I used to work for a Halloween party. After that, we met up with F, my mom, and sister with kids at my grandparents house. All of us chatted and tried to get a picture with all five kids, each took their turn being unhappy. After a little rest and relaxation at home, our family visited my other grandparents for chili and breadsticks, yummy!! That was only first dinner. Second dinner happened when we went to the in-laws' house. This time, PIZZA! A meal the kids always enjoy. All of F's siblings came and the kids came, too. Now comes the good stuff. lil' K and her cousins trick-or-treated down the street to the ward for a trunk or treat and all the way back home. She loved running around with her older cousins (all of which are girls). We then took time to visit and saw my parents also. With all the jammed up, long day, we were still home and had the kids in bed by nine. Not to bad. We had so much fun, and Kate can't get enough candy.

Boos and Zoos

On Friday, October 26th, we enjoyed a nice day out visiting the Witches of Gardner Village. lil' K, lil' Luke and I went with my Mom, my sister, her kids, as well as Kin. We had so much fun finding all of the witches. lil' K's favorites were in an outhouse & riding a bike in the air. We took a break to have lunch and look in the toy store. It was super crowded, but lots of fun!

Here are the kids in a wagon full of pumpkins

Tuesday, October 30th
Today my sis and I took the kids up to the zoo. For being UEA, it was not too busy, but colder than we had thought it would be, but thankfully we did have jackets. We didn't see many animals because we made a quick trip and let the kids navigate, which made moving slower. It was nice to see Antoine the Ghost of the Bayou and say goodbye, he'll be leaving the zoo in the next few days. We love the zoo!!

Watch out for the Scarecrows!! Kids and Antoine the White Alligator

Dinner Bells a Ringin'!

For two weeks this month, we were staying at my parents' house while they traveled. One day, right after lunch, lil' K was still thinking about food. She asked me, "What are we going to have for dinner?" I told her I didn't know. She then said, "Maybe I can find it." and began to look in the cupboard full of cans. After pulling out a few cans and lining them on the counter, lil' K exclaimed, "Dad will be so excited!" Needless to say, we did not eat what she had out, and will not until I find a recipe to contain these ingredients.Yummy!

The Leading Lady

I thought that was me, up until lil' K came along. In the last 2 years, lil' K has taken an extreme liking to the Disney Princesses. It all started when she saw the movie Cinderella and has grown immensely. Last year for Halloween, lil' K was Cinderella. Now, she loves to get dressed as Cinderella every chance she gets. lil' K loves to role play as such princesses. Sometimes it is Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Jasmine, the list goes on. She goes as far to repeatedly tell me, "I'm Cinderella." when I call her lil' K. As for my part, I play the roles of "the mice" or "step-mother" in her pretend play. Kate also loves to listen to Disney music. When we listen to Aladdin's "A Whole New World," I am allowed to be Aladdin and must sing his part, while lil' K sings the part of Jasmine. She does quite well at it too. But that is what it has come down to. I can't sing her part and get the small roles. Maybe mother's win for "Best supporting actress."

Delta Farce

F signed up a few months ago to receive "weekly" (more like random) Monday text messages from Red Box to rent a movie for free.
Last night (Monday) we rented Delta Farce, F's choice. Quite a movie. It stars Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and DJ Qualls. A regular 21st century Three Amigos. These guys are in the army and think they are headed to Iraq. In a turn of events, they end up in Mexico and try to save a small village from Banditos.
There were some funny parts, but overall, glad it was free. Definitely a movie in which you don't have to think to get what is going on.
