Festung Königstein / Fortress Königstein

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.443329882383402.95867.100001191817060&type=1&l=d857984f2a

On this sunny, but horribly cold Saturday we decided to visit the Fortress Königstein, just about an hour by car away from our home. Like every year they have a wonderful romantic historic Christmas Market and this year even an underground Christmas world in the casemates (Casemate - ital. casa matta (covered house) – cannon-proof fortress rooms). The corridors were filled with lights of the traditional Herrnhut Advent and Christmas Stars and the smell of candles, sweets, Barbecue and hot wine punch. We got great impressions, the kids had a lot of fun in the snow and it was just a wonderful day. Late that evening we came back home, tired, completely chilled through, but happy :)

Gondwanaland Zoo Leipzig - November 18, 2012

For the 50th birthday anniversary of my cousin we went to Leipzig to have a wonderful family party that took place in the Zoo Leipzig, more precisely at Marché restaurant in Gondwanaland of the zoo. We had a fun time, great brunch at Marché and a wonderful walk through a beautiful and special area of the zoo.

Entering Gondwanaland will appeal to all of your senses as you come into close contact with the tropical rainforest of Africa, Asia and South America. Under a covered area (larger than two football pitches) there are 40 exotic animal species and approx. 500 different plant and animal species. Follow our jungle paths or treetop trail and drift along in a boat on the jungle river Gamanile.

The history of the Dresden Transport Museum (Verkehrsmuseum Dresden):

With its 50-year-old history, the Dresden Transport Museum (VMD) is one of Dresden’s newer museums. Its inception in 1952 as one of the first cultural institutions in the former GDR after the Second World War was directly connected with the establishment of the Hochschule für Verkehrswesen (College of Transport). The origin and tradition of the museum, however, can be dated to the year 1877, when the collectiton of the later Saxon Railway Museum began, which was housed in the Dresden-Neustadt railway station until the Second World War. The museum, therefore, traces back to one of Germany’s oldest technical collections. The holdings of the Saxon Railway Museum (only partly surviving after 1945) were taken over by the future VMD as its first exhibits. In the first years, the work concentrated on the collection, categorization and preparation of suitable exhibition material, including an expansion to all modes of transport. Before the reconstruction and development of the ruin of the Johanneum started in 1954, the new museum was first housed in a shed at the Dresden-Neustadt goods station. During the 750th anniversary of Dresden in 1956, the first completed construction section on the ground floor housed the first exhibition on '120 years of Saxon Transport history'. After further special exhibitions, the part of the museum that was housing the permanent Railway exhibition, could be opened to the public in 1958. Since the inauguration of the Aviation/Aeronautics exhibition (1970/72), all exhibition areas (railway, cars and bicycles, local public transport, shipping, and air traffic) have been presented at the museum. In connection with the reestablishment of the Free State of Saxony in 1990, the VMD obtained the status of a State Museum. The museum celebrated its 50th year of existence with a ceremony in 2002.

Meet the Dino's!

Can you imagine what our planet looked like a hundred million years ago? At that time, none of the continents had today’s familiar shapes, and dinosaurs and other reptiles reigned supreme on land, in the sea and in the air. The life-size models at Saurierpark bring that era back to life. You can meet huge herbivores and look terrifying carnivorous dinosaurs straight in the eye. Find answers to questions such as: Where did the dinosaurs come from? Why did they die out? And how did such an incredible diversity of species develop? Today was the opening of a new part of the "Way of St. James" (german: Jakobsweg) from Freital to Grumbach. The weather was fine and so we decided to go on the Pilgrim's way too. We didn't make it to Grumbach, even didn't leave Freital :D, but anyway had a nice walk with the kids. Just follow the link above to see some pictures I took on our way.

O.k. today's definitive diagnosis: radial head fracture (GER: Radiusköpfchenfraktur). One more week I need the splint, then I will need some physiotherapy.

shit happens:(

that can happen, when an old mom tries to be sporty like her young son - that happened when I went skating with Martin, I fell backward on my left hand and maybe broke my elbow (the doc is still not sure - next week I have a new appointment in hospital for another x-ray, so then I hopefully will know more)

Klosterpark Altzella / Altzella Abbey

Today we went to the Klosterpark Altzella.
Altzella Abbey, also Altzelle Abbey (German: Kloster Altzella or Altzelle, previously Cella or Cella Sanctae Mariae) is a former Cistercian monastery near Nossen in Saxony, Germany. The former abbey contains the tombs of the Wettin margraves of Meissen from 1190 to 1381.
The premises and gardens, surrounded by the precinct wall of the former monastery, and known as the Klosterpark Altzella, are now maintained by the Schloss Nossen/Kloster Altzella Administration, and consist of a Romantic park, ruins and restored buildings, used for various cultural and religious functions, such as Corpus Christi processions. It also hosts conferences and private functions.
What to say - was a great day and the boys had tons of fun!

Here you can see the pics of the trip:

from today with glasses

Martin really likes his new glasses. He got two of them, one as the main glasses and one in exchange. We think he looks soooo gooood !

little Christian turned 4 month on Valentine's Day ;)

already 4 month - time flies - since about 2 weeks now everything he gets in his hands immediately lands in his mouth - we told the older brother not to give him small toys, because he maybe could swallow it, we are still not sure if Vincent did understand it, so we carefully watch the kids when they play with Christian, Christian realizes more and more around him so he is now able to keep qiet for awhile and play with himself.
my beautiful rose Oliver brought for Valentine's Day - I just love my hubby!

snow - just in time for the school vacation ;)

So long the boys waited for snow to go sledding. At first we had mild temperatures and much rain, than we were just freezing with about 16° below zero, and now we finally got snow - and my boys are just happy!
poor Martin needed to stay at home because of a bad cold and mild fever :(
Vincent was just sooo happy that I picked him up from kindergarten with his sled
...goofy... ;)

Christian at the physiotherapy

Christian's doctor said that Christian would need physiotherapy, because he always turns his head to one favorite side. I didn't think so, Oliver too, but since about four weeks now we follow the doctor's advice. Christian mostly likes it and it is great to see that everything comes along well.

Christian with his physical therapist Uta Mai

oh...and he wanted...so much...

I think it was a good idea to go there, the room has such a cozy ambiance and Christian feels so well every time.
Don't miss the 4-month-pics on February 14 ;) I still can't believe he already gets 4 month...time flies!

so proud to have all boys !

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that one day I would be the mother to an all-boy family. I have always loved pink, flowers, makeup, smelly lotions, skirts and dresses, pretty much all the typico all girly things — so of course, I assumed that at least one of my future children would be a GIRL. Three boy babies later, I have come to the somewhat surprising realization that I am the only girl in a house full of boys — and that is how it will always be.
I am a proud mother of sons.
“Little boys love their mamas,” is a phrase I hear often from strangers and friends alike. And happily, I have found it to be true. Little boys do love their mamas, and I can feel their protective love around me each time their little arms hug me, which is quite often. I am proud of my sons for being affectionate and loving to their mama.
A mother of all boys and no girls has it easy in a lot of ways if you think about it: I know anything pink in the laundry basket belongs to me, no one criticizes if my boys’ hair isn’t perfectly combed, people aren’t shocked to see a little boy with dirt on their faces or clothes, and I will never have to worry about matching hair bows to outfits. My boys love to play in the dirt, cry when it’s time to wash the dirt off in the bath, throw fits when I need to comb their hair, and insist upon wearing their same favorite T-shirts every day – clean or not.
I am a proud mother of sons who make my life easier in simple, unexpected ways.
Nothing makes me prouder of my boys than to see and hear them express their brotherly love for each other. When I chance to overhear one say to the other, “You’re my best buddy,” or watch the older boys make sure the younger ones get down the slide safely at the playground, it brings joy to my heart to know my children care for each other.
I am the proud mother of sons.
Many people look at me, surrounded by my boys, and are quick to express how they feel sorry for me and the hard “trial” it must be for me to raise so many boys. I am just as quick to set the record straight: I wouldn’t have it any other way. Raising boys ensures my life is full of love, affection, playful energy, and the frequent opportunities to realize that a little dirt and uncombed hair never hurt anyone.
I am the proud mother of sons.

laughing Christian

I just love to see and hear him laughing. Christian is such a little sunshine and sweet happy boy! It's great to see him growing and changing!

On New Year's Eve we all stayed awake till New Yearand didn't had any problems to do so, even Martin. Just Vincent got a bit tired of waiting for the big fireworks and got asleep very fast and long. But just in time he woke up to celebrate with us the New Year and watch the big fireworks ;)
