I've spent the last 3 weeks working on opening an Etsy Shop. It was a little time consuming, but once I got enough things ready to list, it's all up and running. I want to try to have a variety of things and am slowly working on that. I've got plenty of ideas, just not a lot of time.

Here I've made some hang tags with pockets to insert a note in. The note card pulls out from the side.

The little note card (2 1/4 x 2 1/4) has a tab on the top and inserts in the side of the gift tag.

This is from a couple of years ago, maybe even 3, but I'm reposting it because my previous posts were shared from the Cricut Blog that shut down, therefore removing images and links and many have been coming from Pinterest to find them. Nothing more annoying than a bad Pinterest link!

Materials:
Cricut Craft Room
Cricut Expression 2
Cricut Cake or Cake Mini
Cricut Score Tool
Cricut Font and Basic Shapes (belts)
Close To My Heart – Art Philosophy (shamrocks)
TBBM2 – (cupcake holders)
Cardstock (green, black, gold), fondant, gum paste, modeling chocolate or icing sheets

Directions:
1. Score, cut and assemble hat cupcake holders. They are created with the ‘tea cup’ box from Tags Bags Boxes and More 2 without the handle.
2. Cut belt pieces. Slide belt through buckle and wrap around base of cupcake holder, adhering ends in the back. Fill with cupcakes, candies, nuts, etc.

Cupcakes - Cut file includes shamrocks for cupcakes. Be sure to change machine to a cake
machine under options in the Cricut Craft Room to cut them. Cut fondant (gum paste, modeling chocolate, or icing sheet) into shamrock shapes and embellish cupcakes. Can also just cut shamrocks from paper and attach to toothpicks and use as cupcake toppers.

I don't know about you, but I'm really glad Spring is on it's way. While we didn't have a ton of snow, like much of the US did, it was brutally cold with occasional ice and snow storms causing all kinds of chaos. I'm looking forward to Summer and this year I actually got the diet going early in September with a goal to be down to my lowest weight by my birthday in 6 months - I succeeded! The hardest part of dieting is getting in the groove. Once I get in the groove, I don't have any trouble losing weight (with a lot of discipline), but then I get too comfortable in my success and some of it creeps back on. Think I'll try a little harder this time to keep it all off.

I've been enjoying my old stash of Penny Black stamps and coloring images, enjoying making things more often. I had forgotten how long it takes to put a card together. Not just the actual stitching and assembly, but the decisions on layout and components and coloring of images.

Suitable for just about any occasion, birthday, Mother's Day, just because, etc., this card is embellished with various ribbons, die cuts, a paper flower, stitching, and more.

A coordinating inside and box to complete it.

Life is good (redo)

Before putting this card up on eBay I decided to rework it a little. I actually made it back in July 2012 (original post here). I wasn't totally pleased with it and wanted to change it a little.

I moved the acrylic stars around and then removed the original bow and replaced it with a metal moth (or is it a butterfly?) Also added a gem eye on the bird, a flower and gem on top of the birdcage and a bigger loopier bow at the bottom.

Penny Black any occasion card

I dug out my rubber stamps! Took me a bit to refresh my stamping and Copic coloring, but it was fun. I even used some texture paste on the lower right (the big leaf and stem looking area) - gave it a little more dimension/texture. This card can be for any occasion, to include fast approaching Easter!

Zebra Stripes, no Zebras, birthday party

We had Ella's 9th birthday party this weekend and it had been a few years since she has had a party so we tried to make it super special for her. She chose the theme of zebra stripes, black and pink, but no zebras. I had no idea how much stuff was out there in zebra stripes! It's everywhere!

A quick banner for the birthday girl. I started with a blank banner and cut the vinyl wording in removable vinyl so it can be changed to suit the next party or occasion. No zebra stripes on it. It was a last minute creation and I didn't have the time or vinyl to make it fit in with the theme.

While I was finishing up the cake decorating, Ella and daddy were finishing up the balloons.... 50+ helium balloons.

The cake and cupcakes! I can't remember the last time I baked a cake. Decades ago, I'm sure, and even then it was always sheet cakes, never layers, never nicely decorated. This one scared me, but I wanted to give it a go for Ella.

Stripes inside, too! Wasn't sure if they came out or not until the cake got cut! Looks like stripes to me!

Goodie bags with the kids names on them and put some of their name stickers inside, too.

Just a few of the zebra striped gifts!

....and the zebra striped pinata. Almost forgot she asked for a pinata so had to make this for her. First time making a pinata. Wasn't difficult but did take a couple of hours.

She had a great birthday! and I'm glad to be done shopping and thinking in zebra stripes!

National Teacher Appreciation Day

National Teacher Appreciation Day is coming up, Tuesday, May 6th. This is a simple little teacher gift that shows a child's admiration for their teacher. For their teacher with super power!

After designing an apple shape with a heart cut out in Make The Cut software, I cut it from craft plastic (0.20 PetG) on my KNK Maxx Air. I then created a 'super' insignia and cut it from red vinyl. It's now ready for the young student to create the card and add their own art and wording for their Super Teacher.

The teacher can add it to a key ring, purse handle, notebook wire, etc.
