Welcome to another Sunday Stamps challenge! I've been enjoying some of the online craft classes Stampin' Up! is offering, particularly the Lovely Blossoms Craft Class.

The DSP has a page that can be cut apart for tags or squares or what-have-you. The squares inspired me to create a card using a previous Sunday Stamps sketch and the featured bundle (seeing as it and lots of scraps were on my desk).

Here is this week's color combination and sketch I used for my card.

The VSN theme is "Go for the Gold" in honor of the Winter Olympics. Sticking with more of a steampunk vibe, my card must be participating in the vintage Olympics with copper metals, LOL!

Part of the point of VSN is to pull out and play with supplies you haven't touched in a long time. Kudos for using up some patterned paper and scraps of card stock!

The lily pads came out looking pretty unique. I had stamped with Pistachio Pudding ink and then colored with Granny Apple Dark & Mossy Meadow Light Stampin' Blends.

Improving your Performance:

Improve on a card in your gallery. I had mentioned when I made a triple z-fold card that when I made one again, I would alter the dimensions to fit a finished A2 card.

The dimensions I used are 5-1/2 x 6-3/4" CS, scored at 4-1/4 & 5-1/2". Also three 1-1/4 x 6-3/4" CS strips, scored at 1-1/4 & 2-1/2". This type of card is a great excuse to get out those neglected stamp and coordinating paper combos.

Compulsory Round ~ Back to the Fundamentals:

Use only paper, ink, and stamps. Of course I cheated a little bit by using coordinating dies rather than fussy cutting.

I'm using an old color combination from Sunday Stamps from my "idea stash". These challenges are a great way to use some retired product and scraps!

Made of Snow:

Ski hills & snow people. Vikki Jo mentioned snow angels, and I was wondering if I could come up with something with my current stash.

I hand-sketched a mask for the snow angel and circle punch for the footprints.

Gold Stars on a CAS Card:

Well, I'm attempting a CAS card in terms of layers, but the background has quite a bit of work into it. (Masking and stamping was an option wrought with possibility for error.)

I blended Darling Duckling ink on the background, and then splattered with masking fluid. Once dry, I blended Island Indigo and Night of Navy ink to create a nighttime sky. Not showing up well are the die-cut stars made with gold foil paper.

Hi All! Today I'll show you the card I put together for my downline shoebox swap. I wanted to make a card that had a little more depth. A z-fold card is always fun, and the orientation of the rollercoaster dictated the card open on the right rather than the traditional left.

The z-fold dimensions: card base 4-1/4 x 9-1/2", scored at 5-1/2 & 7-1/2"; bottom strip 1-1/2 x 9-1/2", scored at 2 & 4".

The weather today is windy and cold, windchill down to -13F, so I hunkered down and alternated between reading and stamping. For fun, I played along with the recent Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoaststampers.

Bonus VSN Color Challenge:

The theme is "Go for the Gold". After watching the Winter Olympics Day 1 skiathlon, I was inspired to make an Italian flag color challenge card. I pulled out the retired Let the Good Times Roll bundle, to pair with Boardwalk Fun, and altered by z-fold dimensions to fit the rollercoaster.

These z-fold dimensions are card base 4-1/4 x 8-1/2", scored at 5-1/2 & 7"; bottom strip 1-1/8 x 8-1/2", scored at 1-1/2 & 3".

SSC377 Christmas Mushrooms ~ The Magic of Winter

Hey-ho, and welcome to the first Sunday Stamp challenge of the new year! Today I'll share what I put together for holiday cards. I can't stand the hustle and bustle run-up to Christmas. It steals my joy, so I always target creating New Year's cards instead.

When I was a kid, we had a beautiful hand-blown glass mushroom ornament on the tree.

That memory led me down the path in search of the lucky Christmas mushroom. With either nature or good luck themes, Christmas mushrooms (fly agaric) under fir trees are associated with northern European (German) or Asian winter solstice celebrations, symbolizing luck for the coming year and the magic of winter. Here's another interesting reference to Christmas mushrooms.

I tried to keep the card relatively simple since I had to make a bunch, and of course I didn't have the paper I wanted for the juniper berries. Had to wait for an order from eBay to show up for a little bit of sparkle. The inside sentiment for my card is, "Wishing you a magical New Year."

The mushroom in the background is a previously unshared wood blank I decorated last year with Sale-a-Bration goodies: Toadstool Garden DSP, Fresh Freesia Seam Binding, Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins, plus Ladybug Trinkets.

Falliday Fest 2024

I'm back with some more end-of-the-year Falliday Fest challenges. It's been a few years since I partook in New Year's Eve stamping challenges, and it was relaxing to get back to creating for fun.

The Tastes of the Season

For the smells and tastes of the holidays, I chose my grandmother's gingerbread cookies.

Metal Foil Tape ATC

Combining the metal foil tape & ATC challenges, I basically followed along with this video to create the background.

I grabbed some weird things to make texture, like a Pedro's bicycle cleaning tool and spiral-bound notebook. The hardest part is to figure out what layers to put on top without covering up all the background interest.

Hey All, I got a chance to make some cards with 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar. It was my first experience with a crafting advent calendar, and it was pretty fun to get a surprise every day.

HCE15 ~ Bring in the New Year with Fun Color

I used both stamps and stencils to create quarter panel of a Split 4 Technique card. I also played along with an old challenge at Splitcoaststampers, Holiday Challenge Extravaganza HCE15, a color challenge.

Here's a screenshot of most of the product in the advent calendar. I've got a bunch of cards in my future in order to put these goodies to use.

Hello! And welcome back to another Sunday Stamps challenge. Did you guys see the Poppin' By bundle on the Last Chance list? What a fun little set!

I've been using up old scraps on recent cards, including die-cutting some colored watercolor paper for the popcorn kernels on this card. Always fun to create new art out of some old stuff. Speaking of Last Chance, Mr. Brown delivered the perfect embellishment, clearance Starburst Sequins, just in time for this card.

The kiddo and I went to the movies to see Wicked for Good, so this card was perfect for the occasion.

Welcome to another Sunday Stamps color challenge! I've been doing some hiking in the Catskills lately, so I've got some snowy mountains on my mind.

Starting with the colors, I looked through my patterned paper to find something that might fit the bill.

Ha, most of my card is brought together using scraps and other tossed aside pieces, so that's pretty cool!

Hi All! Welcome to another Sunday Stamps challenge. Guys, my REI catalog had some fun paper on the backside! I bet I could use that for a card.

I'm only about a year late on this cute set, Snowy Wonder. I didn't have the coordinating dies, and then happy incident, I opened the unused stamp case and found them inside! Joyful!! My main image layout was CASE'd from Laura Milligan.

ETA: I was looking for a place to tuck the rest of the REI paper, and I found the DSP from this bundle too, unopened. Wow, not like me, but it's like found mad money!

Today I'm attending Northeast Pennsylvania (NEPA) Shoebox Swap with some of my Splitcoaststampers friends. Meeting IRL! This year's theme is "Baking Spirits Bright".

ATC: I thought it would be fun to "bake" a pumpkin pie rather than Christmas treats.

I created a card for our downline meeting, using as many current products as I could pull together. Wanting to follow the previous color combination, I started stamping and said, um, my wagon does not look like it's full of old hay. Hmmm. Well, switch gears and make it a twisted card.

The inside sentiment says "I forgot your birthday."

[This is happening! I'm gonna make a card!] Hello All, welcome to my little corner of the internet where I struggle to find time in the summer to make a card. This week I'm going to double dip, using the current color combination on Sunday Stamps, as well as a make up on a missed sketch.

I couldn't resist making a cone flower card, using some In Colors. [I used a rubber brayer to add some color to the embossed sentiment.]

And sure enough, I have a photo of some cone flowers on my phone as well.

Hello All! Swinging in late for the Sunday Stamps challenge this week. I am doubling up, making a downline shoebox swap as well. Our group usually swap with every new catalog, and I don't have many new sets from this one, so I'm using the sentiment set Layered Thoughts we received from Onstage Raleigh.

Welcome to the next Sunday Stamps challenge! I've had Taylored Expressions Perk Up! bundle sitting on my shelf for a long while, and I haven't had a chance to ink it up. This stamp & stencil combo makes super fun background, plus you can die-cut the cups for a main images as well.

I went with neutrals for the background, and incorporated some new Stampin' Up! In Colors for the focal point. I stacked the sentiment to get it to pop up off the card.

The new two-tone card stock has a white core, which is great for sanding techniques. It reminds me of the old Core'dinations paper, so I dug some of my old stock out to play with.

SSC358 Changing Leaves Pocket Card

Hey y'all, Time for another Sunday Stamps challenge. This week's sketch reminded me of a classic pocket card. I combined that with an idea Stampin' Up posted recently using the newer two-tone card stock.

This was a great opportunity to use some new In Color card stock colors, plus play with retiring Changing Leaves embossing folder & dies.

The two-tone card stock has coordinating shades of either side of the paper, plus a white core. This lends itself to some fun techniques, such as sanding that I used on my card. See this post for more ideas.
