Eleven

11/11/11

In honor of this day, I will revive the blog by posting 20 photos of the past 11 months.

January
  Sea Life Center in Seward

February
Fur Rendezvous and the ceremonial start of the Iditarod.
George never wants me to pull out his teeth
even when they are dangling by a thread,
so we listed a bunch of ways we could yank it
and he went for this one.
These are the kind of things that happen when you are friends with Maloufs.

March
George took a Martial Arts class,
here he is waiting for his turn to spar
with a mouth full of mouth guard.

April
Ted Albert arrives at last.
His sister loves him even though she dramatically declared,
"I will NEVER play with him!" after finding out she was having another brother.
She is currently the only one that can always get him to laugh.

May
We spent two weeks in Utah in May.
Arches and Canyonlands the first week,
Noelle's wedding and George's baptism the second.

June
Charlie turns six, wearing the dress that Grandma Nancy made for her birthday.

July
My parents came up to visit in July and watched the kids
while I went to visit Jeff who worked in Canada for most of the month.
We celebrated our 11th anniversary on the 11th of July.

My ruggedly handsome fella at Moraine Lake.

First of many fish caught this summer.

  August
George is happy to have survived his first backpacking trip with Dad.
These are a few of the bears that kept them from getting any sleep that night.
Next time they will remember not to set up camp in a fishing hole.

September
Our happy campers at Hidden Lake for the last camp-out of the season.

                                                  October
There was a major head lice outbreak at the kids' elementary school.
I still get itchy just thinking about it. bleah!!
Ted celebrated his 1/2 birthday and has grown to be one hefty kid
with a very laid back and pleasant temperament.
John is starting to get used to having a little brother and has yet to try and get rid of him.

November
Winter is in full force already,
we have already seen below zero temps and the days are getting short.

 p.s. Happy Veterans Day!

home on the range for the holidays

We went to UT for Christmas to see family and soak up some sun
(this was one of the only days we had snow at ground level)

Bison or Buffalo? Either way they make one mean burger
(their wings are good too, I'll pass on the chips though. ba dum dum )

Antelope Island is beautiful (and less smelly this time of year)
and that Salt Lake sure is great

left: big D. George and little George D. right: big J. John and little John

more buffalo roaming and no antelope to be seen

but we did see this guy (I think he was giving us the stink eye)

now for some Halloween

(keeping it chronological, someday I will get caught up)

Charlie's kindergarten class party (John's scared face) and Scout the super shaggy pup

kiddos and pup post trunk-or-treat (Charlie was a zebra/dinosaur and George was a
storm-trooper/Zorro/vampire depending on the occasion)

beached

Aunt Suzanne came for a visit in October.
We decided to go for a stroll along the beach after some unusually high tides

and saw a baby humpback whale
(it had been there for a while and was bloated and decaying)

and hundreds of jellyfish that had been washed up.
George picked some of them up with sticks and sent them back to sea.
These sled dogs were getting in some pre-season practice
while a curious coyote and eagles were watching from the cliffs above.
It was an eventful nature walk.

Sunny September

our last camp out for the season
highlights include: no campground fee, hiking, canoeing, bear sighting,
good friends and food
