to health

This made me one proud Mama. Brock eating broccoli.
(Now I just need to get Everett on board.)

I might be a little late on doing this, but I just signed the "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution" petition. I watched his show on youtube earlier this week and it kinda made me realize that I want my kids to be healthy and I have got to start leading by example. I was only able to watch one episode but it was enough to make me think about what I am putting in my babes mouths everyday. I don't really understand what preservatives are and which are bad and which are good, if any at all. So I have lots to learn about it but I am going to be better about preparing meals for my family and to always try to make a habit out of sitting down together at the dinner table with one another. I probably am getting ahead of myself here because the boys are just barely 2 years old but I know if I get them started with healthy habits while they're young, then as they grow up, they will not know any difference. Plus I always remember my Mom cooking for us growing up. Every. Single. Meal. Unless of course it was a weekend and we got to go to Taco Bell, which was always a big exciting thing for me when I was a kid. So anyway, if you are interested in Jamie Oliver, this is his website; jamieoliver.com

i will be grateful for this day

I found this image on a blog called jones design company and I just thought it was so appropriate for my day today. I will be grateful for this day. I am grateful for the good people who surround me in my life. I am also grateful for my little babes. I am grateful for the man in my life who works very hard for his family. I am grateful for amazing in-laws who don't really seem like in-laws, they feel like they've been apart of my entire life. I am grateful for trails mold me into who I am. I am grateful for parents who have loved each other for 40 plus years and made their marriage work. I am grateful for brothers and sisters who are there for me. I am grateful for positive vibes, thoughts and prayers. This day that I am grateful for is now over but I just needed to remind myself what I am grateful for because sometimes I forget.

san diego zoo

We just got back from the best trip down to So Cal last Sunday. We had a lot of fun and were able to spend time with one of my bestest friends in the whole wide world, Becky King. I don't have a camera, as I have mentioned several times before but the King family took enough pictures for both of us. Here is just one of the many pictures she took while our visit to the San Diego Zoo. We all had so much fun. The weather was absolutely perfect, we were in the best company possible and to top it all off, our visit was almost free. Richard had won some tickets to the zoo a while back, (which inspired the reason for the trip in the first place.) and since all four of our kids are two and under they were free and between the four adults, we only had to pay for one ticket so it ended up costing us each $20 bucks. Not bad for a full day at the famous San Diego Zoo.

I already miss Southern California. I must say I got the winter blues on arriving home. We went from 75 degree weather to bitter cold and an inversion that made it so we couldn't even see the mountain's that surround us. Then Joaquin had to go into work early the next day. It was a little difficult for me to arrive home going from one extreme to the other. All is well now. We have been home for about a week and we are back in the swing of things. The weather has still been bone chillingly cold but the sun has been out for 3 days now, so even if we don't make it outside, I sit in the sunlight that pours in through my front window and I get my little vitamin D fix for the day. Life is good.

someday.

Someday soon I hope to be back in the world of blogging. We have been up to a lot the past two months and I hope to share soon. We still have no camera, due to one of the little one's tossing it into the toilet a while back, but we have still been taking pictures with our phone's. So stay tuned for the not so exciting lives of Joaquin, Michelle, Everett and Brock.
