Halloween: 2011 Edition

IMG_0165

That right there, my friends, is the cutest monster you will probably ever see in your entire life. And this post really only gets cuter.

You see, we went to a ward trunk or treat on Friday. And Tennyson didn’t really get the concept of asking people for candy. That’s okay. We have plenty of time to work on that later. But he really understood the appeal of running around a parking lot in a costume with a pumpkin bucket (it does help that he’s had an ongoing love affair with this pumpkin bucket for about a month now).

It was hard to capture the essence of just how cute this really was because it was so dark outside. Every time he stepped into the light, I tried to get a quick video. Beware. They will make you smile.

And look… me and Mike dressed up too! Mike’s costume looks cool. Mine looks super lame. But I had on some awesome tights that you can’t see in this picture that made it much much cooler.

Anyway. That was Friday. And I started feeling kind of lame because we aren’t actually doing anything to celebrate real Halloween (well, that’s only partially true, Mike and I did get Hocus Pocus to watch after Tennyson goes to bed). So to celebrate real Halloween, Tennyson and I made a sign after his nap. He is quite the artist. And he didn’t even make that big of a mess, which I really appreciated.

An Important Announcement

Dear Family and Friends,

Fiske Inc. is proud to announce that we are fully engaged in the early development of our newest product, Baby 2.0, or  Baby #2. We expect this new product to be released this coming spring, May 2012.
While it is still in development and many particulars are unknown, we do know that Baby 2.0 will have several new features while preserving many of the current features that we know and love from our current model, Baby 1.0 (known colloquially as Tennyson).

What new features can I look forward to seeing?
  - Decreased Leakage. While this is a long shot, we hope that this product will excrete less superfluous waste as one complaint we received from the first model was excess diaper usage.
  - More Stable Sleep Function. Though we were finally able to work out the bugs in the sleep function of Baby 1.0 (which we use for optimal regeneration and relaxation), we hope to have stable sleep capabilities earlier on with the new product.
  - BabyInteract. With the release of our second generation product, the new BabyInteract software is designed to allow Baby 2.0 to fully integrate with Baby 1.0.
  - The largest change that is being studied is the possibility of using BabyGirl platform to develop the product. While we are thrilled with the results that we received by using BabyBoy in the development of Baby 1.0, it is possible that we will use the BabyGirl platform with this model. We expect to formally announce which platform will be used near Christmas 2011.

What old features will be maintained?
Given the success of our Baby 1.0 model there are many features we hope to maintain, including:
  - 10 fingers and 10 toes to maintain grasping and balance capabilities
  - BabyGrow: the growing patterns of Baby 2.0 are expected to vary slightly from that of Baby 1.0, but much will remain the same.
  - BabyLearn: this software will allow Baby 2.0 the same adaptation and developmental abilities that we’ve observed in Baby 1.0 and it is possible that there will be increased developmental speed in the new model.
  - Generally, it appears that most features of our BabyCute software used in Baby 1.0 will be compatible with Baby 2.0.

Our lead developer Nichelle is diligently working around the clock to ensure a timely release of Baby 2.0. Mike, leading our technical support staff, has been lending greater assistance in the day to day operations of Fiske Inc. while Nichelle attends to her new duties.

We are also happy to announce that in conjuncture with the release of Baby 2.0, our previous model Baby 1.0 will be receiving an update with the integration of Big Brother software which we hope will make Baby 1.0 fully compatible with Baby 2.0.

We appreciate the success and excitement that we have experienced since the release of Baby 1.0 and hope our consumers (especially Grandparents Inc.) will receive our new product with equal, if not greater, enthusiasm.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and patronage.
The Fiske Inc. Development Team

Nursery Boy

photo (1)

My baby is all grown up and in nursery. I almost can’t believe it. But then it also feels like it’s taken forever to get here.

Church was a new experience today. Tennyson even behaved in sacrament meeting. Only once did I have to take him to the lobby (and then outside because he noticed the big doors that led to a sidewalk and screamed until I opened them).

I think he was just fine with nursery. He cried when we dropped him off. And he cried because we were too slow to get him. But he found the time to color us a pretty picture, so it must not have been that bad.

I didn’t cry at all. Neither did Mike. It was just too nice. I liked getting dressed this morning knowing I was getting dressed to go to church and not getting dressed to walk around in a hallway for three hours.
I think we’ll all get used to this nursery thing.

The Great Outdoors

Tennyson has this new obsession. With the outdoors.

Anytime he sees me or Mike go outside, he begins throwing a fit because he is not outside with us. He’ll stand on his tip toes reaching for the doorknob. He’ll try to push our storm door open. He’ll scream as loud as he has to until we let him go outside.

While it’s plenty annoying that I can’t even peek my head out the door to grab the mail without a full on meltdown ensuing, it is nice that he’s been making us go outside more. The weather is gorgeous. I couldn’t live without the fall.

(mike took that picture at the park today. it really is gorgeous here.)

Besides, when you hear him laughing and running around, you kind of forget about the tantrum that made you go outside in the first place.

October 1st

October is the best month of the year. By far. And Michigan does fall right. It is only in the 40s here. And it is cloudy. The leaves are changing and the pumpkins are coming out.

On October 1st last year, we went to get our pumpkins. We continued the tradition this year. Only Tennyson wasn’t quite as happy about it. Apparently being in cold weather and feeling under the weather does not a happy child make.

When we got home, I pulled out the pictures from last year to compare. I don’t even recognize this little baby:

There is absolutely no denying that Tennyson is now a full blown toddler. Who goes into nursery at the end of THIS MONTH. My little boy is growing up. It’s probably time we stopped referring to him as “the baby”.
