Sparklers

Last night we played with sparklers.. Who would have thought that such a simple thing would be so entertaining. The kids tried writing their names and I was able to catch a few letters on camera....

Thirty-Three?

Blah, I guess I am. It just sounds so old.....
Anyway, the kids and Matt treated me heavenly.

They made a fantastic dinner and an ice cream cake that was made just by them. Great job everyone. Thanks for making my day special!
Being Silly, mad and slightly normal......

More Langdon

Okay, it is official, we are head over heals for this little man! What a sweetie!
Sunday evening we went over so the rest of our little family could meet Langdon. We had such a great time. Thanks for dinner, it was fabulous!

The Knob Hike...

Our last day there we had a wonderful hike up towards the knob. This is where we were at for the 4th year hike Matt and I went on. It was so much fun showing the kids where we camped. That day was beautiful! No rain storms. Tiny A even got to get out of the back pack on the way down. She ran the whole way. It was hilarious! And it wasn't without falls.I think there was about 10 head over heal falls. Thank goodness it was in nice tall grass. Very soft. This was a much easier hike and the kids had a blast. Great day to end our trip on.
Grandaddy would be so proud, the boys made sure to shut every gate we
came through.

In the first meadow.. I love it here... Absolutely breathtaking.

Heading back down..

Look at her go!
Two of my girls... What sweet things they are!

La Cueva Trail Hike...

We had a fabulous day hike up the La Cueva Trail to a mountain lake. Matt had thought this lake was only 1 mile up. Well, it ended up being slightly further. Like 3 miles further. So in all our little ones walked 8 miles and it wasn't an easy hike. But so worth it. Look at this lake... So beautiful! We think it would be a great place to do some backpacking camping. We didn't see a soul on the whole hike. Fabulously peaceful!

Our little family, very relieved to have made it...

On our way up.. there were no tears yet.. :)

Look at them go.. They went so fast..

Ahhh, the easy way to hike, well for Tiny A anyway. :)

Uh, can we say beautiful?

Trying a little fishing at the high mountain lake.

Lunch...

Made it down... Do you notice that two of my little ones do not have shoes on. Yeah, blisters really stink. The kiddos wore sandals because their shoes were wet and we thought that the hike was only 1 mile. No biggie, right?
Well, once the blisters were there it was just easier to go with no shoes. Don't worry it was nice squishy mud. And when there were rocks they rode on my back since Matt's was already occupied.

My brave little barefoot kiddos. mmm... I love 'em!
The rain was starting and we could hear the thunder and we had to head all the way down.. Here is where some tears started to roll. We are a family who doesn't really like Lightening storms. But we made it. A lot of prayers and lots of singing got us down without too much drama.
