NC with Benzleys

We arrived last Sat. morning at Morehead City, NC to stay with my parents for 5 weeks. It was a rather uneventful trip down. We headed to the pool (two times actually) on Saturday then finished off the day with a dinner at our favorite restaurant.
Our friends from Boston (who now live in Orlando) got here on Sunday afternoon and it has been non-stop fun and relaxation. The kids play SOOO well together since they basically have grown up together. Here are a few highlights of the week:
Yesterday we went to Cape Lookout, which is an island run by the Park Services with no inhabitants. We took a ferry there (Carolina Skiff) then we sat in the back of a truck that took us out to the very tip of the island for a few hours. We had the entire place to ourselves (other than a few fishermen...). The beach was gorgeous and we're making plans to return next year!!

Our little beach stuff surrounded by only water and sand. The pool umbrella bit the dust about 10 minutes after I took this picture.

Abby and Bill walking the beach.

Carter is holding some unknown beach thing - we thought it was a snake skin - but it isn't hollow. Who knows - it was a bit creepy.

On the truck ride back to the lighthouse, little Abby feel sleep sitting up. She was pooped!

The anti-smoking campaigns haven't reached North Carolina - everyone still smokes here. This was a bucket outside the ferry office - we had to take a picture! Zack did the honors.

We spend a lot of time at the pool here at Brandywine. The kids have had SOO MUCH fun. Here are some pictures Bill took of everyone jumping in together.

This was a belly-flop contest.

Abby ready for the pool. She isn't afraid of the water (but waits to jump in to a parent, thank heavens) and has had a lot of fun also.

Bill and Dad took the kids fishing at Reginalds. Carter caught a little fishy.

Zack caught a huge flounder!

Then Dad cooked it up for him and he had it for dinner!

We've had several trip to the beach and we have some aspiring surfers. The older boys were dragged out of the beach each time we left. They would boogie board for hours without stopping!

Carter riding in for the 500th time that day...

We went to the Aquarium - here is everyone looking at the Otters.

Everyone is off to the movies now!

Carter Hits a Double

Carter has improved his hitting with a lot of practice this season. Yesterday luckily our friend got a video of him hitting a double! Yes, that's my screaming voice on the tape. Enjoy!
