A Swamp Boat Excursion...

Florida is a state known for many things....Disneyworld, Kennedy Space Center, the Everglades, the Keys, Manatees, and of course....Alligators. The University of Florida is not nicknamed the "Gators" for nothing. :) Alligators are literally like cockroaches in these parts....you'll find them in lakes, rivers, streams, swimming pools and even on the roadsides. They're all over the place!
As my parents visited over the Christmas Break, we thought it only appropriate to introduce them to some of the iconic creatures of Florida’s swampland…via a swamp boat excursion. Here are a few photos we took along the way….

A trip to St. Augustine

About 70 miles east of Gainesville is the quaint little community of St. Augustine. It is actually the oldest city in the country! We made a little excursion out there while my parents were in town to see some of the historical forts and buildings. It was a killer place to check out. This is a taste of what we found…

We've actually done it...

Yep...we've now caught the blogging wave. I, for one, never thought that this day would ever come. For the past couple of years, we've watched friends and family alike plunge headfirst into the blogging universe, but we've always been content to sit on the sidelines...avid blog readers, but never contributors. What can I say...we like our "semi-technologically adverse" world. However, now that we've moved 1,052 miles (give or take) away from our closest friends or family, we thought that "the blog" might just be the best way to stay current with all the changes that occur in this adventure we call life. So, here we are...cutting our teeth in the blogging community...better late than never, I guess.
