Sleepy baby.....

June the 6th marked a dramatic change in our lives. Yes, six weeks ago today, Michele and I surrendered our independence and our enjoyment of 8 hours of nightly sleep. As a way to say thanks for all our hard work, love and devotion; Cade decided to sleep from 11pm to 7am last night!!!!! We appreciate his gratitude and we will repay him with even more hard work, love and devotion.

APS/job-hunt update

For those of you who are still tuning in to find out about the APS buy-out situation, it has not been completed as of yet. I spoke with our president yesterday and he said that it should go through by the end of July. The buy-out is not the only thing that is getting pushed back. My annual review (typically in June) has been pushed to the end of July - hopefully I will get to have it before we sell out! Which leads us to our next item. I am currently looking for a new job. I have not idea what will happen to my position once we are under DHS, but I am not going to wait until I am re-assigned to start looking for something else. Last week I turned down two jobs (pay and job type) and receieved a rejection letter from another. This week I had an interview and I applied to several other jobs. All of this is a little scary with a newborn and a disappointing turn of professional events, but we will survive. I hope that maybe all of this will help me find something that will be truly fulfilling and enjoyable. Anyone who kows about a good job opening in the Waco or Lufkin area, please let me know. I am not sure that I want to move, but I do know that we don't want to live in a big city.

My kid is amazing!

Cade was spending some tummy time yesterday on his Baby Einstein mat when the phone rag. Michele walk to the kitchen to answer the phone and when she returned to the living room, Cade was on his back. In other words, Cade has figured out at 5-weeks old how to turn over. I am going to try to get him to do it again this weekend so we can actually witness the event.

If that was not impressive enough, he showed his real skills for sleeping this morning. Before I left for work I went to check on him. It was evident that his diaper was full so I picked him up, put him on the changing table, got his lower half out of his PJ's, changed a poopy diaper, put his PJ's back on, put him in the crib, swaddled him and told him goodbye without him waking up. I know what you are thinking and yes I checked to make sure he was still breathing. He did not wake up until an hour later - still without fussing.

Oh, did I mention that Cade is amazing!

I love that little guy!

Fourth of July

While most of the nation came together with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our great nation, my family gather together to celebrate the birth of my son! This meant that Michele and I had to take a chance at a 4 hour car trip with a 4 week old. He did great and we enjoyed the time together in the car. Cade had a great time at G-Paw & Grammie's house. Like his father, he really likes the outdoors, looking at trees and checking on the horses with G-Paw. Grammie seemed to have all the right moves to sooth Cade and Michele and I took advantage of the chance for some R&R. Cade got to meet most of my family and his two youngest cousins, Lexi & Rebekah.

Here are some pictures from the big weekend adventure!
