Remembering Jane

I wanted to take this time to remember Jonathan's mother who just past away August 12, 2010. Jane was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer all throughout her body on May 16, 2010. She was immediately hospitalized where she received radiation treatments for the tumors in her brain. Unfortunately the treatments weren't enough and the cancer had already spread to her organs and bones making it impossible to cure. She was sent to a hospice where she spent the remainder of her life. She had many visitors come every day and it was obvious that she was a very loved person. There are not words to describe what a wonderful person Jane was. She was such a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a lot of charity towards everyone around her and was the kind of person to give you everything and want nothing in return. She was smart, beautiful, funny, loving and kind. She was such a fun person to be around and such a great example to me. She will be greatly missed. We love you Jane.

Kevin's Blessing

Kevin received a baby blessing in church at the beginning of April 2010. It was such a beautiful blessing. Grammy and Grandpa bought him this cute little outfit to be blessed in.

Kevin

So I promised some more pictures and here they are! They are a little late, but here nonetheless. We had our baby boy on February 17th, 2010. He weighed in at 7 lbs 6oz and 19.5" long. I started contractions that morning around 7am, got to the hospital around 9am, and delivered the baby at 11am! It went really fast, but everything went pretty smooth and the baby came out healthy. We named him Kevin Anthony Francis. Derek loves him so much and is always right there in his face trying to hug him, kiss him, or tickle him. I usually have to be right there to break him away because he doesn't know his own strength yet. He sure does adore him though. I love that! Kevin is now 5 months old. He is incredibly strong! He can almost do a sit-up! He also has the strongest grip that I have ever seen on a baby. There is no getting your hair back once it falls into the hands of that one! He is starting to eat baby food now and likes it a lot, but definitely not more than mommy's milk. He is a mommy's boy. :)

Derek is getting huge! He is twice the size of any kid his age now. He loves to wrestle anyone really and the other person usually ends up getting hurt somehow. He is also extremely strong and has an amazing pain tolerance level! He is going to be a pro athlete someday, that's for sure. Derek is 3 now and is going to be starting preschool in Sept. which he is ecstatic about. He asks me every day if we are going to school. :) We are still living in NYC and I really enjoy it here. It's a fun and crazy busy lifestyle, but it keeps life interesting.

Good News!!

I'm pregnant! I'm sure some of you already know this, but I thought I would get the news out there already. I am 5 months along and we are having a boy!! Derek will love having a brother to play with. The pregnancy has been fine, no sickness or complications so that has been a relief. The only thing that gets tough is walking for miles just to get somewhere in the city. Especially with a toddler who loves to run away from me! Good thing for all of the public transportation though or I might die!
We are so excited to be extending our family and can't wait for this sweet little boy to arrive in March. We haven't decided on any names yet, but we will let you know if we do. :)

Jonathan and I had the opportunity to attend a dinner for the New York LDS Professional's Association down on Wall Street. They handed out several awards including one for Richard G. Scott. He was named most visionary man. He gave a talk there which was really great to hear and it was also so fun to see him in person. Unfortunately we didn't get to snap a photo of him, but we got to sit two tables away!

NYC

The past few months have been really fun living in NYC. We have done a lot of things and most that we just don't have pictures of. Of the events we do have pictures of, unfortunately I can only put a few of each on here. Enjoy!

At the beginning of May we all went to the Museum of Natural History, a must see. Derek's favorite thing to see would have been the big "dumb, dumb" stone statue, but he was out for that. He did get to see the dinosaur bones though and he loved that. There were four floors of stuff to see there and it took a while, but we made it though the whole thing in one piece.

Derek got to hang out with Elmo for a bit while we were walking through Time Square. I don't think he knew what to think. lol He was pretty excited afterward to talk about it though.

May 16th was my (Kylie) birthday. Jonathan and I went out to a nice dinner and had the best steak ever! The next day, we had cake and presents. I love my new roller blades. Jonathan, Derek and I go rollerblading all over the place, especially through Central Park. So much fun!

On June 17th, Jonathan and I celebrated our fourth anniversary! We went to a nice restaurant in Soho and I had a raw oyster for the first time. It was alright. Kind of squishy and slimy though.

Grammy Clark came to visit us in NYC in June. We did and saw a lot of fun things including the Museum of Natural History, Little Italy, Time Square, Central Park, and lots more. Thanks for coming mom!
