Tuesday Afternoon before the dreaded oral defence:

1200pm: goes to resto, gobbles down lunch in record 10mins

1215pm: watches reruns of Will & Grace and Friends to cure the anxiety

1300pm: naps

1400pm: Jitters Jitters

1415pm: decides to map a last minute summary of the whole report

1430pm: finishes summary with less that 100 words... HELP!!! jitters jitters jitters

1445pm: reaches classroom for a 1515pm appointment with teamates and prof

1500pm: waiting for the previous group to end.....

1515pm: .....waiting...

1530pm: still waiting...

1545pm: ok Road to Mordor officially started

1550pm: prof explaining mistakes we made in the report...

1610pm: still explaining....

1620pm: .... more explaining..

1630pm: As he reaches the last page of the report, i was sure i was going to faint anytime soon. Cos that means individual Q&A time.

1631pm: everyone starts to pack their things.... and the Prof leaves.

NOW WAAAAAITAMINUIT. why is everybody leaving??? Arent there supposed to be Q&A??? No more Q&A?? WHY???

and why am i complaining?? THIS IS GOOD!!! i did a whopping 2 pages out of 61 of the entire report, was not questioned by the Prof and now i am going to pass (i think)!! YAY!!

And i just got back my Soil Mechanics project and got an E!! Super embarrassing but in any case, That's a pass!!!

One "exam" down.... 4more to go.

Saturday nite out

Went to support Isabela's flamenco performance last nite. Expected to be wow-ed and amazed, since i paid good money, 6euros to be exact. but the truth turned out to be quite the contrary.

Most of the girls gave ZERO expression, some FORGOT the choreography, looked more like they were in PAIN than they were acting SEXY.... i mean fine, you may not have the technique, but the least u can do he to act sexy goddamit!! Stop standing there, flipping and twirling your arms like a stick figure.... DANCE and act the part!

And i dont think i am being a harsh critic, just because i am a dancer (sort of). The rest thought they sucked too. HAhaha. Surprisingly, the OLDER women were much better than being sensual that the nubies.

A snap shot of the nite. i have NO IDEA why it turned out like this but it looks pretty cool..... WOMEN ON FIRE!!! not. Not on fire, not at all. Except Isabela, who was trying her darnest to be seductive...and she was good! i was quite impressed!!.... and i am not saying this just because she might be reading. She was doing the actions like she MEANT it... and pulled it off so KUDOS to her!

Just when i thot the nite was going to turn out a lacklustre one, the real, seasoned dancers came on stage. This young guy who apparently has been dancing since 6. And it does show..... a couple dance with a middle aged AUNTIE. it was really good, until i realised the age difference seems mildy disturbing.... it's like dancing with your...... mother. EEEeeks. Erase thought.

The men and the lady of the hour

Headed off to town because APPARENTLY there was going to be a party, celebrating Olympic Lyonnais win of the France soccer league.... ya know, the team would drive around in their tour bus, lifting the trophy, same old same old. Until it started pouring..... none of us had our sweaters and we were basically freezing our asses off. Wanted to call a cab but it turned out to bea task more difficult than getting a man pregs. Horrible Horrible nite.

i leave you now with a couple of nite shots of the evening.

REM: what i thought was supposed to be a 40 page report turned out to be 60pages, and i am at page 20 now. Good luck to me.

Alcoholics Anonymous

I think I turning into an alcoholic. Every weekend I look forward to a nite of watching reruns of Friends, Will & Grace and Ugly Betty, sipping on a bottle of vin blanc, drinking myself to sleep.

Either that or I am partying with my friends, downing copious amounts of vodka/tequila/god-knows-what and then subsequently drinking myself to sleep and waking up the next day reeking of the remains of last nite.

Hell, I even woke up 830am in the morning on Friday, dragged my ass to Chinatown, bought mint leaves, Rhum and club soda, came home, made myself a bottle of Mojito, chilled it, and subsequently polished the entire 1 litre on Saturday afternoon, even before dinner. I WAS HIGH EVEN BEFORE DINNER!! I bame it on the weather (it was hot, I needed a drink) and my genes (like father like son)!! YES we finally agreed on something. (DRINKING IS GOOD!)

But then again, knowing you are an alcoholic actually makes you NON-alcoholic… At least I am not in denial. Right, Right, RIGHT???? *hic hic*

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Went to the cinema for the first time in 4 months.... to catch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.... ok la not too expensive. 6.20euros student price. Quite excited.... especially since it's Version Original and not something dubbed in french crap. Quite surprised to see the theatre not even half filled.... i mean in Singapore, you have to book tickets days in advance for blockbusters like these, esp when they are out the first few days.... HAHA maybe French people don't like to watch original version cos their english is so damn FUCKING lousy.... but there are french subtitles...... OH WAIT!! maybe they cant read too!!!

Anyways... was a little disappointed with the movie.... its was unbelievably long and unbearably boring.... If you thought Dead Man's Chest was boring, then you'll probably sleep in this one. Running at 2hr 48min, the only exciting parts were the last 48mins. The rest of the show's basically betrayals piled upon betrayals, double crossings piled upon double crossings and too much talking .... So much so that i didnt understand a single thing. The first episode was still the best IMO. Fun, light and not so much special effects overload.

ehhh, but dont take my word for it. Go watch it yourself.... if not, you can catch the trailer here.... all the exciting parts are in there anyway. BYE!!!

have a nice day...

Less than a minute. With no exchange of words. And a simple head nod. I think i made someone happy for the rest of the day.

And me? i felt nothing..... im frigid

Musings....

Oh man, i love Siwei. Now i know why he is my bestest bestest friend!! We are BFFs!! He's going for an excursion thingy to Northern Berlin and this was the last conversation we had before he left.

Me: i will tok to u on monday nite or tuesday okzzzzzz. before u Hit Me Baby One More Time and run on wed again

Siwei: BYEZZZZZ. Please don't try to slip in "Subtle" hints of Brit Brit here and there

Me: haha

Siwei: It's Toxic

Me: bye bye la u are Driving Me Crazy. HAHA

Siwei : Then you need to be STRONGER than yesterday esp.

Me: Ya man.... i know i shudnt drink alcohol but guess what Oops I Did It Again

Siwei: EVERYTIME you drink, you will damage your kidneys...It's the mega britney face off.

Me: alrighty!!! i will listen to u, haiz, who ask me to be a Slave 4 U....Ok i think we shud stop...this is getting too Cheesy

Siwei: Hush just stop

Me: Bye!!!

Haha, we totally GET each other.... i'm going miss him man.

On to the next subject..... i know Justin Timberlake brought SexyBack but who the hell brought scratching-ballsback. Seems like i am seeing more and more (esp my roomate) of this happening in front of my eyes. if you don't already know.... scratching your balls IN PUBLIC is NOT COOL. Kindly excuse yourself to the washroom or some hidden alley to scratch all you want before coming out. I mean, how do u expect me to react? Do i stare or do i pretend its not happening??!! Seriously!! I blame the hot and humid weather for this disgusting and may i repeat again, NOT COOL, phenomenon.

Speaking of weather. The weather is totally wonky. It's so freaking hot now. Sometimes up to 29degrees..... I didnt pay 6000euros, take a plane for over 13 hours halfway around the world to experience Singapore weather in a nicer setting. Please, i want sun, but not too much.

And i dont get why there is not air conditioning in lectures and classes... we are basically steaming ourselves in the ill ventilated rooms every day, sweating like mad cows.... if they can have have heaters in corridors (of all places) for winter, why dont they have ACs in classrooms for summer??? I DONT GET IT!!! Stupid Stupid french pple.

And i am finally reaching the final leg of my exchange..... which means to say, the dreaded exams are ominously looming in the corner.... my first oral exams is next week. While my heart says i should start studying before i pee in my pants, my physical self seems to be not responding. Oh man....

If you see me online, tell me to go study.

CORSICA = Paradise on Earth

Road trip Corsica.... famous for being the birth place of Napoleon Bonaparte, postcard perfect scenery, towering mountains and stunningly blue waters. Being born and breed on an island, you can imagine my excitement after being deprived of beaches for over 4 months now.

Travelled together with 9 other friends, amongst a group of 25.... with a ratio of Latin Americans/Non Latinos of 21:4..... that spells only one thing---a whole lotta waiting.... and wait, we did. A whole lot.

Day 1:

We left Lyon at midnight, to catch a ferry from Nice at an ungodly hour of 730am. It poured, cats and dogs.... not a good way to start travelling. Was supposed to get a Citroen Berlingo, but ended up getting upgraded to a Picasso. Installed with GPS, no less.... all for no extra charges!

Off we go!

After a 6 hour drive, 5 hour ferry ride to Ajaccio, plus ANOTHER 4 hour drive, we FINALLY reached Bonifacio.... thank god i am don't get motion sickness easily. (Nelly-Furtado's-Say-it-Right-on-the-radio count: 2)

What did i say about those waters?? BLUE!!!

Partying like crazy.... drinks drinks and more drinks!!!

Day 2:

Boat tour of the outlying islands!! 25 euros!! More white sandy beaches!! WOOTS!

We stayed at the island of Lavezzi, the southern most part of France, for the rest of the day.... the whole time screaming "YES PLEASE MORE SUN!!! GIVE ME SKIN CANCER!!!".... Gorgeous beach, fantastic company, the wind in my air and the sand in my feet.... AHHhhhh life is good.

I finally swam, in 17degree waters mind u and it was fucking SHIOK!!!

With a healthy tan to boot, we bid farewell to Bonifacio. It's time to hit the roads again, this time, another 4 hour drive to the northern town of Calvi.... En route there, i had the most fantastic pizza EVER!!! FRESH SALMON PIZZA!!! Would die to have another taste of it. (Nelly-Furtado's-Say-it-Right-on-the-radio count: 5)

Day 3:
Awoken to a breathtaking view from the hotel balcony!

Time for another day of boat excursion... this time round, it cost 39euros... and thats the reduced price for groups... otherwise its 56. Wah kaozzz 杀人放火....
Trigger happy on the cruise:

The outlying islands of Girolata wasnt as nice, beachwise, but the view was better
Back to Calvi... walked around the fortified old town for a bit while waiting for the ferry back to Nice...

the happy family!! Woots!!

ok so another 3 hour ferry ride and 45mins of driving (no thanks to the freaking tramway constructions), we finally ended up at our hostel in Nice. Dead beat.... energy all SAPPED away by the sun.....zzZZZZ (Nelly-Furtado's-Say-it-Right-on-the-radio count: 6)

Day 4:

The last day was basically a free day to explore Southern France. The girls wanted to go to Cannes for the Film Festival, which is an hour's drive away (Nelly-Furtado's-Say-it-Right-on-the-radio count: 7).... i've been there 2 years ago.... so it seems all too familiar. Deja vu all over again.

I saw the wall again....
i saw the red carpet.... this time with a MUCH nicer backdrop, with JUMPING CELEBRITIES!!

and reporters manning their respective stations under the sun... HAHHA damn sad. All for tabloids.... and i'm one of them tabloid readers!!! haha
and the gorgeous sandy beach where everyone seems to be deck out in the flashiest bathing suits, crying for attention...
and also all the billboards for upcoming summer blockbusters

Speaking of which, i have yet to watch Spiderman 3 and now Pirates 3 is also out.... GOD DAMMIT!

Another 3 hour ride to Saint Tropez ...(Nelly-Furtado's-Say-it-Right-on-the-radio count: 9). I am about to puke now.... from both car sickness and Nelly Furtado OVERLOAD. Geez.

Saint Tropez was AMAZING!! Small seaside community for the rich....
there were enuff Ferraris and Porsches in the world to start their own motor show
And then it was finally time to go home.... but not before another dose of Nelly Furtado. I am officially hating her right now.

Anyways, this might probably be my last trip before going back to Singapore.... unless i pass all my exams the first time round. Corsica basically SAPPED all my money.... too expensive!!
The trip itself was great, but i guess i will NEVER EVER do another trip with 10 pple. It's just too much for me to handle.... the waiting, the compromising, the need to make everyone happy. And me being such an anal person, have to be in control all the time.... it's just too much. And the whole driving thing, OVERKILL.... even thou i didnt drive the entire time, i pretty much have car phobia now.... and you've never experience traffic jam until u've come to france..... Endless bumper to bumper traffic at 1am in the morning.... NOT FUN AT ALL.

alrighty now.... heading back to the books.... oral defence and exams coming soon. i am smell my BBQ chickens already.....
