DAY 1: Taipei
Arrived in Taipei. after 5 long hours on Jetstar... plush seats, but not much legroom.... very cramp. almost died. thank god i sat at the aisle.
Went to eat at some small cafe place near our hostel..... and the soda bottles are really cute..... they have this little contraption. u have to push a small ball from the top and den get to drink the soda. we took quite sometime to understand how to drink from it cos the instructions were in.... Chinese
At night i finally met up with Colin Monk, who's actually from Montreal and actually stayed in B Blk for a year when i was in year1.... he was the one who saved me from all the french homework. He is now studying Chinese at Shida in Taipei. Good guy..... and he drove me around in his scooter!! HOW FUN!! How taiwanese!!
DAY 2: Still in Taipei!!
And then whats a trip to Taipei qithout going to Taipei 101!! haha CIVIL ENGINEERING MIRACLE!!! haha so being CE ourselves, we HAD to go right?? Super geeky. and then after we went to Din Tai Fung for lunch.... SUPER GOOD. 14bucks for like 4 baskets of xiaolong bao, a plate of vege, a plate of ribs and 2 plates of fried rice. YUMzzz. so much better than in spore.
At Fisherman's Wharf in Danshui.... nothing much to see here... just a bridge and buy some snacks along the way to chomp on
MUAH ZIIIIII!!!!
And at night we went to Shilin.... which was a bit hard to find.... i dunno how we got SO lost cos its right beside an MRT. But watever. The food at shilin was a bit disppointing.... i expected a better chicken cutlet... but the desserts were AMAZING after a long hot day in the sun.
Alishan was like a super last minute decision because we didnt book any accomodation for 2 days after Taipei and we just decided to go there. Below is a High Speed Train that brings us to Chiayi
Anyway.... as i was saying... we were so unprepared for the weather at Alishan.... it was FREEZING. Thank god for my 6months of cold weather training in France i was able to survive it relatively unscath. But my frens were complaining the entire time!!! haha
We wanted to walk the trail but it ended up raining so we ran for shelter at some forest ranger HQ....
The following morning we woke up at an ungodly hour of 320am to catch the sunrise at the mountain top!! Very pretty sight.... althou we didnt actually get to see the actual sunrise cos the clouds were covering the sun but still..... u get to breathe in the FRESHEST air.
And then after the sunrise we decided to go hike the trail that we didnt get to the previous day due to the rain...
A temple in the middle of the forest...
Me hugging the tree trunk of a 1500 year old tree....
Anyway the main aim of the trail was to see the oldest tree (2500 yo) at Alishan but we realised it had already died... cos a lightning struck it. haha we felt so cheated after slogging for 3 hours!! but it was a good walk.
We missed the train up Alishan so we decided to talk it down.... pretty much a waste of time.... cos all you see are trees... and it take longer. But since we were tourist, we did all the touristy stuff...
We finally reached Kenting after what feels like 12hours of nonstop travelling and it was already night time so we went to check out the night market there. We havent had fruits for 4 days so we drank fruit juice to get our daily dosage of fibres. haha
We spent the ENTIRE day at the beach... which is why i look so bloody black in subsequent pictures.... the beach was really pretty. we just lay there, suntan and swam, in the PACIFIC OCEAN!
Me getting a massage from the blind for just 100NT for like 10mins.Damn good and DAMN PAIN.
DAY 6: Kenting!!
WE rented motorised bicycles cos we didnt have bike licence and they wudnt let us rent one..... but it goes up to 40km/h so for one day, we felt like a MAT dude with his "scooter", his mat sunglasses and a mat cap... and i had the skin color to rock the new look. HAHAHA
By the time we made our way to Hualien it was already nighttime.... so we just walked around and ate... i ate so much i had stomach upset in the middle of the night and i was so worried i wouldnt make it to taroko gorge the next morning.... but THANK GOD i did... mind over body man.
I LOVED Taroko Gorge.... i LOVE nature.... ijust had to say that.
We left Hualien.... sadly cos there were so many things to do there but we didnt have enuff time.... so we bid our very nice room farewell..
We shopped at Wufenpu.... bought a tshirt for yukai but thats about it.... and met Colin and Zhonghan for drinks at night.... i was already dead tired from all the travelling.... hence the lack of photos the last few days.
DAY 10: Last day in Taipei!
I split from the group the last day and finally went to the hot springs at Beitou with Han and Colin.... damn shiok!!

It was really nice getting to meet colin after 3 years.... he's still the same. very funny and vocal guy.
Finally back at changi airport after 10 days of travelling. very tired. very hot. but very fun......
Dunno how to survive part 2 of my grad trip.... which i will last 16 days... (GASP!!)
