Just because

I tried to get some pictures at church this weekend mainly because I don't take very many pictures any more and I am noticing how fast the kids are growing. How is that for a run on sentence?!

Avery's summer means basketball and friends

Avery has basketball camp this week at JN and next week at ACU. She loves it!

Yesterday after camp, she came to my office with me. She was rummaging through my desk drawers looking for markers and found some 'sign here' stickers that I use on tax returns and other documents. I didn't even know that she had them until she came back to my office with a document for me to sign.

Translated, the first line says 'parent signature' and she even put the slashes for me to fill in the date. I am afraid she has my type A personality :) and then she took a nap.

Summer for Luke means race cars, guns and friends

It's the first week of summer and Taylor and portions of Callahan county have lost a lot of turtles and rabbits. Luke and Tate went with Bryson to his ranch at Clyde and they shot turtle after turtle.

Last night, Kent took all 3 boys to hunt at their place and Luke got the first kill.

Luke got to race and learn how to change a tire on our trailer at the track. What a fun weekend!

Remember the alamo!

Luke had to choose between writing an essay or building a model of the alamo. He is now very good with a glue gun. We aren't those parents that do projects for their kids. I think you can tell him build it himself (freddie did help him a little) and he did a great job! And guess what? It isn't due until Friday! And he turned it in on Tuesday! That's a win in my book :)

First game of the season

Luke played his first baseball game tonight and started out the season with a bang! He pitched two innings and we were winning 11-2 at the end of the second inning. He had 3 at bats and hit a triple, a home run and another triple. He was sucking some wind running around the bases tonight. He said, man that's exhausting! It's like he didn't run in football or basketball. We need to practice running some bases. The final score was 13-9. We won!

Spring break

Freddie wasn't able to get off work during spring break, so we didn't get to go on a trip, but we did lots of fun things at home.

My kids have discovered pictionary. They want to play it all the time. We have learned that we should invest in the junior version. Sometimes the kids would pull 20 cards before they recognized the word. The funniest part of the entire game was when Luke drew a kid on his dad's shoulders. It was a very good likeness. I guessed piggy back ride and Luke said "yes, you got it!" Then he said, "well, close enough, it was carry."

We got pedicures. Luke didn't mind going with us as long as he got to sit in a massage chair.

We ate lunch at mcalisters and then went home and cleaned out flower beds, power washes the front porch and started tilling the garden.

Avery had a friend over and they played all day together. Luke invited CJ and I took all four kids to see the new Lego movie. It was a fun day.

Luke left on Thursday to go to Austin with Tate and his family. Avery and I had a picnic, played more games and started on a puzzle. All in all, it was a fun spring break.

We are headed to the rangers vs. Astros game this weekend at the alamodome. It will be a fast trip but a good start to baseball season!

Faster!

Luke is now old enough to go 8.90 seconds in the 1/8 mile race. As an 8 year old, he could only go 11.90, which put him at about 52 mph by the end of the race track. This weekend, he tried out  the new engine and his first words after driving 72mph was "that was awesome!" He was grinning from ear-to-ear. The car actually ran pretty consistently for the first time out. He may not get to race much this year since baseball games are on Saturday, but who knows, we will see how it goes. He is getting so big.

This is my first blog from my phone. I am not sure how it's going to work. But as you know there is an app for everything these days. I might blog a little more if I don't have to have my laptop with me to do it.
