Temple Trips with Sheree

I try to get to the temple at least once a month, although I don't always make it.  I try to go more often when I'm not working to make up for the busy times.  Before starting school, My friend, Sheree, and I took a trip to the Phoenix Temple because neither of us had been before.  We did some inititories and sealings, and afterwards we went to lunch at Panera Bread.

I went again, early in September, because I hadn't made it in August.  I was able to take a family name that I had printed off myself from the "Take a Name" app associated with Family Search.

Later in the month, Sheree and I went again for the sealing of a couple in our ward who attend my Sunday School class.  The next week we went and did sealings for some more of my family names.

On my last free day of fall break, Sheree and I took a road trip and performed inititories at the Tucson Temple.  We tried to do some sealings too, but they didn't have any names.  On the way home, we stopped to eat at Kneader's.

A Visit from Finau

Hayden has been dating/writing/visiting (?) a girl he met on his mission who lives in Hawaii.  He went to see her in March and again in May, and then she came to visit him in July.  We had her over for Sunday dinner so we could meet her.  It happened to coincide with Elder Christian Johnson's 1 year mark, so we took "Hump Day" pictures to send to him.

Our poster used to say Hump Day too, but I edited it out to post on Facebook.

Back to School 18-19

A week and a half after returning from my trip, it was already time to go back to school for returning teacher week.  I had gone to a training at the end of the school year so I was able to spend the first few days getting my new room ready.  Even though I was staying in the same position, I had to move to a different room.  Our school is gaining two self-contained SPED classrooms this year and they wanted my room since it had a bathroom.  I had been hoping not to have to move because it is so much work, but I do love all the storage in my new room.  I am right across from the teacher's lounge so I still have a bathroom close, but it is also very noisy.

I bought a new chart hanger and a whiteboard for the back with money my mom gave me for graduation.  I LOVE IT!

School started on July 18th this year, a little earlier than usual.  After getting out later due to the walk-out, that made for a very short summer break. I have almost all of my students from last year plus 7 new ones.  It's going to be a busy year!

Back to Reality

The flight home Tuesday morning was much less eventful than the one going out.  For one, we didn't have a layover in Montreal this time.  It was in Toronto, which was a much nicer airport.  Second, we had called ahead and had a wheelchair waiting for my mom at each of the airports so she didn't have to walk everywhere,  It made going through customs and the security lines much faster.  The attendant just wheeled us right to the front of the line.
We got back to Las Vegas around lunchtime and thankfully, there was a Panera Bread across the street from where we had parked my car.  We had lunch and then drove the two and a half hours back to St. George.  I WAS EXHAUSTED!  Even though we got there in the early afternoon, I could not drive anymore, so we spent the night with Aunt DeLoyce before returning back to Payson on Wednesday.
While I was gone, Alyssa stayed with Tisha and Mindi, each for a day, but was with Stacy and Shane for most of the time.  While she was there, she went fishing with them and caught her first fish.  This picture doesn't do the video justice, but she was super excited!

We stayed until Sunday so I could recover a little bit before having to drive yet again.  I went for walks in the fields, visited my good friend, Sherrie, and just relaxed with my mom.  (She got me hooked on Matlock).

Friday we had a girls' temple day and lunch at Dalton's.  I also went to one of Carter's baseball games later that afternoon while Alyssa spent the day with her friend, Terra.

Saturday we had a backyard BBQ and outdoor movie at Stacy's house with "all the buddies".

Sunday morning, Alyssa and I got up and went to sacrament meeting with my mom before leaving to make our way home.  It was an exhausting drive but I was glad to get home to the boys, who had been home alone taking care of Lucky and the house for over 2 weeks.  Luckily, everyone was alive and the house was still in one piece.

Day Five- Nova Scotia

Monday morning we got up and checked out of the cottage.  We were sad to be leaving.  It went by way too fast!  It was raining and we had an interesting time trying to get the car loaded without getting everything soaked, including ourselves.  One last car selfie before heading toward Nova Scotia.
We stopped one more time at the Goat soap store.  We decided we wanted to buy a few more things, and most importantly, we had forgotten to take a picture of the "forgot soap?" sign.
We had heard from a nice family at church about a scenic place called Peggy's Cove.  We decided that even though it was out of the way, we would make out way there before going to Halifax.  It rained, and was very windy and foggy for much of the drive (over 4 hours) but it was worth it.  The town was very quaint and colorful...

 (Proof of the wind!)

 ...and the lighthouse was AMAZING!!

We headed back towards Halifax and found a breakfast place to eat dinner.  We had pancakes with REAL Canadian maple syrup.  YUM!  Then we checked in the hotel, returned the rental car, and tried to get to bed early because we had a 5am flight, which meant getting to the airport at 3.

Day Four- PEI

Sunday morning we went to church in Charlottetown.  Tammy had planned to go on a boat tour while we were gone, but due to the weather it ended up being canceled.  She stayed at the cottage and quilted, so she was ready to go exploring when we got back.  My mom and I were exhausted, and I wanted to get a little bit of laundry done, so we stayed back and relaxed while she and Aunt Deloyce went for a drive.  They came back excited that they had seen another lighthouse (I'll admit I was disappointed to have missed it) and something else they wanted to show me.  I was just getting ready to go for a walk along the bay, so they joined me.

 The trail along Covehead Bay
The Lupine- we found out that they are really weeds and grow wild.  They are not natural to the Island but were brought here and now they grow everywhere.  They are so gorgeous, especially considering they're weeds.  We picked some to take home, press and dry.  We also bought some seeds to try to grow them here.
After our walk, we left to get dinner at Richard's Seafood that was at the wharf by the Covehead Lighthouse.  On the way, they showed me what they were so excited about.  It turned out to be Dalvay by the Sea, which is now a hotel, but was filmed in the Anne of Green Gables movie as the mansion where Captain Harris was attending a house party.

On the way back we saw a family of foxes.  One of the kits came right up to me while I was filming.  I was afraid the mama would get mad but she just sat and watched.

The view from the balcony at Richard's.  My mom and I got fried scallops and they were delicious!

Later that evening, Tammy and I decided to take one more walk along the beach, since it was out last night on the island.  We went back to the Covehead Lighthouse and walked along the shore.  It was very windy and chilly, so we didn't last long.
