Fuzhou - Guangzhou

We left Fuzhou early on Saturday morning. It was a bitter sweet goodbye. We love Fujian Province because our little Ollie was born there but we were ready to move on to Guangzhou and have more space, a different variety of food and some more relaxing days. This trip we're staying at The Garden. One word, SWANKY!!!!! Holy moly, it is gorgeous!!!! We have a mini suite, which has a living room and a bedroom. The bathroom is super fancy! Oliver loves it and just can't believe he has all this space to practice his walking. He is walking GREAT by the way. The first few days he was wobbly but he is really walking well now. We even took his cast off because it had gotten really dirty and we also wanted to taken him swimming and he is still walking fine. He definitely will need more casting at home because he is still walking on the side of his foot and I think that is why he falls down so often.

The girls are having a GREAT time. Neve has two little friends her age in our travel group and they get on soooo well. We all had dinner last night and ice-cream afterwards. Jemma has blown us away. She has taken to Oliver so well! Thank you for praying for her because she has been amazing. God is so good to take care of every detail. She has not acted jealous about me carrying him everywhere and with all the attention he gets. She says she loves China very much but doesn't want to go outside because it stinks. She is LOVING the food though. She eats steamed buns and dumplings everyday and just loves every ounce of Chinese food. Neve, not so much. She walks into a restaurant and gags. She pretty much eats white rice for lunch and dinner. She loves the touring though.

Oliver is doing amazingly well too. You'd never think he has only been with us for a week. He is almost always happy except for when he is tired or hungry. He does have a small little hitting problem but has already gotten better with it. He was hitting anyone who didn't do what he wanted but we have been teaching him about gentle hands and he has even stopped himself from hitting a few times, then done a gentle hand on us and then raise his hands and said "YAAAAAY". He is super smart. He has learned where his nose is. If we tell him to close his eyes he squeezes them shut. He has also seen me shrug my shoulders so now he looks at me and shrugs his shoulders with this questioning look on his face. I want to eat him he is so cute! I cannot wait for him to meet his brothers! They are going to looooooove him!

We are waiting for him to wake up and then we are going to go swimming and then head to Shaiman Island to pick up laundry and walk around.

Cutest feet before the cast came off..

This is the look I see 100 times day when he runs up and hugs my legs and says "Bao bao". It means hug in Chinese but he says this when he wants me to pick him up.

We visited a baby home in Fujian. We got to love on babies that were there waiting for surgeries and then waiting for their families. Oh my goodness! They were precious!!! Neve found one baby that she fell in love with. They asked us not to take any pictures of the babies or inside the home but allowed us to take this one picture of Neve and her new baby! Isn't he darling?

Oliver's new favourite pass time. Swimming. Boy has NO fear. I'm in trouble this summer when we get home. He will just walk up and jump right in.

Loving him some sissy!

Reading some programming book, gotta start early these days.

Byebye Fuzhou!

About Oliver..

He'll melt your heart.
He'll make you smile.
He'll make you want to squuuueeeeze him.
He has the cutest strut in the world! His left arm swings back and forth as he wobbles forward. He falls down a lot and laughs every time. (Although in just 3 days he is walking better already)
He loves his fried rice, steamed buns and dumplings.
He gives big giant hugs and says "aaaaaaaah Baobao(hug)"
His eyelashes are so long I'm sure they fan his cheeks for him in the heat.
His loves him some daddy and Jiejies, but he REALLY loves him some Mama!
His little feet are not straight yet. One foot is in a cast and he walks on the side of that foot, but I have never seen such cute feet. Ever.
He'll work the camera.
He has a little backward wave.
He doesn't like ketchup, not even one little bit.
He still drinks from a bottle but wont allow anyone to hold him while he drinks. We're working on that.
He is cutting molars! Gah!
The rash is going away.
He loves the ergo carrier and snuggles up like a baby kangaroo.
He fake cries when he doesn't get what he wants, then peaks at you through his half shut eyes to see if you're going to change your mind.
He still mainly baby babbles but says mama, jiejie, byebye, dada, yu(fish) and more.
His little ears fold over at the top.
His eyes are incredibly bright and happy.

Yip.. I think we love him. Like, a lot!

Fuzhou Adventure..

Yesterday we went on a big eating adventure in Fuzhou! We went by taxi to find some yummy Chinese food. We drove over bridges, under interstates and down back alleys and landed up at... McDonalds! We're so lame!

Hanging in the hotel..

It's only day 3 in this little hotel room and we're ready to get out of here.. 4 more days until we leave for Guangzhou!

A walk in the park..

The morning of the day we met Oliver we decided to go for a walk in the park to kill time. People were out there just enjoying their Sunday with friends and family. It was really neat to just be part of a normal Chinese day at the park. Love it! We found this little spot in the park where people bring their kids to paint pottery. We let the girls each pick a piece and they painted. It was brutally hot though, I'm sure it must be really gorgeous in Spring and Fall. As much as I enjoyed it, my mind was elsewhere, on a little boy traveling through the countryside for four hours to be united with his forever family.
