Budding artist!

Ethan has discovered shapes! He recognizes shapes better than colors and he can see them in the funniest places, like a triangle in the middle of a 4. Here is my budding little artist at work. I started drawing circles, then putting a line on them and calling them balloons. So, that's what these are, a paper full of Ethan's balloons. No, it's not upside down, that's how he drew them. Some of them are even square and triangle balloons. can ya find them?

We've had these done for about 6 weeks now, I just now got them printed, and decided to post them. We had them done by a photographer, Robert Christ, in our ward. He put them all on CD, so it's not like going to a studio where you choose what you want there and then they print them for you. I acutally had to do all that myself, hence why it took so long.
I think they turned out really well.

Ella is now walking!! Ethan was almost 17 months when he started walking, and now here is Ella, 13 months and walking up a storm. I love watching her walk. She is so cute. As you can see by the video, what a doll, strutting her stuff.

Happy Independance Day!

We had a very fun 4th of July. I think the best part was that I slept in until 12:30!! I had a headache and wasn't feeling well, so Charles got up with the kids, fed them breakfast and took care of them, all while I slept away the morning. Now that's what I call a vacation and it was exactly what I needed!

When I woke up, the kids went down for a nap. I had slept all I wanted, so Charles and I watched a movie. Then we went over to Dallas' fiance's house for a BBQ and swimming. I don't know if that pool had ever seen the likes of ALL the Gough's swimming in it! We are quite a crew. But it was sure fun and the BBQ was awesome! Thanks Livingston's for letting us invade your house! (FYI Dallas is Marrying Taylor Livingston Oct 17th)

After the BBQ, we went to our traditional spot at Vernon Worthen Park to watch the fireworks. I thought this would be the part that Ethan loved the most, but it wasn't. The fireworks scared him really bad. As soon as they started, he begged Charles to go inside. So Charles took him to the bathroom, and then stood with him out in front of them and watched. He came back to the blanket the last five minutes of the show, and Ethan was OK. Poor kid. Ella...loved them. She didn't get excited about them, but she watched and didn't move.

After fireworks, some of us decided to go to Denny's. We had icecream then went home. We didin't get to bed until 1 am, and we had 9 am church the next morning. Needless to say, we all took VERY long naps that afternoon.

Waiting with Grandpa for the Fireworks to start.

Ella and Ethan ... Waiting some more. Ethan has a glowstick in his mouth

Checkerboard!! Great minds think a like I guess. Me and My sister-in-law Charity (Dustin's wife)

Sheer terror! Poor Ethan was soooo scared

And Ella, just amazed.

Camping!

We all went camping during the week of the 4th! I love camping. Especially in Pine Valley. We went with my parents and brothers and their families. Most of them camped. The rest came up every afternoon and left in the evening. It was perfect weather. We spend Wed. and Thurs. night then came home Friday. Wed night it rained (I love camping when it's raining as long as we can sleep dry, which we did) Thursday it stayed overcast and cool, perfect for hiking. Thursday night, it was cold, but everyone but me slept ok. I froze my tail off! ( I had layers and two blankets and a built in heater (Charles) and I still froze!) Friday we packed up and went home. Ethan slept for 3 hours after we got home! I think he definatley had fun. Ella...well, she was still learning to walk, and everytime she fell, she would get hands full of dirt, and she did NOT like that! We would hold her hand and walk with her, but that was about all she wanted to do. So, we may have to camp more to get her used to all the dirt!

Here are some pictures I took. Our camera is starting wig out, so I didn't get as many as I wanted, but they are still pretty cute

This actually isn't one camping, this is at Emma's birthday party. It was too cute to not stick in somewhere

It's a tradition, every time we go camping, that my brothers build a dam. Why? So they can swim of course (I think it's just that boys like to build things too) So, here they are building a dam. (Everyone helped, but Dan and Travis are in the picture)

Showing off their muscles (?) if they are muscles. Jason, Chad and Travis

Now that the dam's built, they can wade in the frigid water. In the past, we've had competitions to see who could stay in the longest. The boys claim it wasn't as cold this year. I wasn't going to find out, so I'll take their word for it.

Here are all the boys that worked on the dam, including my dad (Dustin, Jared and Dallas aren't there) Starting at the top, Travis, Dad, Dan, Chad and Jason.

Ell and Grandma watching the boys build the dam. It was really entertaining

Ethan blowing bubbles. He did three things while we were there...Blow bubbles, throw rocks in the water, play in the dirt! 3 year old heaven!

Dustin turned into Baloo! He's scratching his back on the tree. We all had the "Bear Necessities" song in our head for a while after that.

I didn't get any good pictures of us playing kick the can, but we do that every year too. The kids really got into it. They loved it!

We all had a fun time. Thanks to everyone who went. It was sure fun!
