A visit to the Firehouse!

My friend Tangela's son had his birthday on Saturday.  He was a fireman for Halloween so Tangela decided to stick with that theme and we went to the firehouse for his birthday!  What an excellent idea!  It's free, educational and the kids loved it!

 Listening to the fireman..

This is a special truck that is designed to take care of chemical spills.

I just thought this name was funny, so I took a picture of it...

Lifting one of the tools.  It was really heavy!

Now they get to walk through the fire engine!

 The birthday boy!

 Ethan!

 Ella!

I tried to get my kids to look at me, but right when Ella just gently nudged one of the chains, the fireman started the engine so he could turn on the lights, and all these lights started to go on and beep...It scared her and me becuase I thought she had broken something!  So, Ella's worried and Ethan's nervous.  Then the Fireman turned on the lights, and we all plugged our ears and he turned on the siren!

 Showing them the gear...

 It's all on!

This was a really cute part.  The fireman was teaching the kids to announce their presence if they ever are stuck in a room and a fireman comes in.  It took them a few tries...but they finally got it.  The fireman would say "Fire department, is there any one here?"  and kids (finally) shouted, "I'm here, I'm here I'm here"  and waved their arms.

Crawling around trying the "find" the kids...

 Yay!  He found them!

 A picture with the fireman!

Then they gave the kids badges and fire hats.  A very fun and educational birthday.  Then we went back to Tangela's house and had cake and ice cream and opened presents.  Lots of fun!

Snow!!!

The 2nd weekend in November it snowed...and snowed...and snowed and SNOWED!!!
I kept waiting for it to stop but it didn't.  It snowed all day Friday, and then most of the day on Saturday.  We even had some Saturday night into Sunday.  Where we live, we got about a foot!  It was a lot of snow.  A lot more than I'm used to anyway.  The kids had a ball in it though.  (except Ariana...)

Ariana's first experience with snow...she really didn't know what to do...

Ethan and Ella knew just what to do though.  They started a snow ball fight, built a small snowman, and rolled around in all that snow!

 Nice shot Ella!

Ariana stayed on the sidewalk.  She wouldn't even touch the snow...

Pay close attention to this table...Ella wiped off all the snow that had fallen on Friday... (at least on the benches)

Ella and Ethan making their 2nd snowman...

And this is Saturday at about 10:30...look at the benches again!  We got so much snow!!

We found a warmer coat for Ariana, but she didn't like the snow hitting her face...

I had to take a picture of her cute little boots!  Her feet look so cute in them!

She didn't enjoy this ride very much, but she got on voluntarily...

Ethan loves snow!

Ella took a lot of rides in the snow.  I actually took a slide too :)

Charles' Birthday!

Charles turned 34 on the 7th!  We celebrated, but it was very low key.  I made Charles a pumpkin pie...of course sugar free and whole wheat.  It didn't taste too bad either.  Considering he rarely gets to eat dessert, this was a treat for him...

Ethan is waiting watch Daddy blow out his candles...and practicing?

 Ariana!  Cheeeeese!
 Ella, love this girl!

Daddy, talking to someone who called to wish him a happy birthday

 The candles are lit!

 Blow out the candles!

Now he gets to eat his treat!  Elizabeth is waiting to try some..

Hey!  Don't I get some?

No...she didn't actually get any, but she voluntarily opened her mouth for it...

 Really?  That's it? *sigh*

The next night Great Grandma Lane, and Grandma and Grandpa Frost came over for a visit, and to give Charles his present.  They gave him a couple of movie tickets...we'll save them for the big holiday movies coming out in December! (Namely Les Mis, and The Hobbit!)

 Grandma Lane with Elizabeth...

and then we'll add on Ella...

 And then Ariana...

And then Ethan...(it was easier than trying to get all the kids at the same time...

And then wrestling with Grandpa!

We love you so much Charles!  Thank you for being such a wonderful man!  You're such a hard-worker, a good provider, and a wonderful Daddy!  (and you're pretty cute too ;)

Raking Leaves...

The first weekend in November we went to the church and raked leaves as part of a ward service project.  We had a lot of fun, and the kids were great helpers!

Ethan got the hang of raking leaves really fast!

Ariana wandered around a jumped in leaves!

Whew!  Hard worker!

Ella was a big helper too!

But of course you have to jump in the leaf pile!

Elizabeth did really well!  We were there for about an hour and a half and she didn't make a peep in the stroller!

Ariana's a good helper too!

She also pushed Elizabeth around too!

 Taking a break...

Ella helping Daddy with the leaf blower!

Look at this cute little helper...

Complete with a chocolate milk mustache!
