It's been a while...

I haven't had the need to blog much lately but thought I should throw one out there anyways! ;)

Thing have been pretty busy! School is back in full swing! I am enjoying my class this year more than the past few years. I feel like I have a new burst of energy this year! I am loving finding all these new ideas to do through blogs and pinterest! Here's a quick pic of my classroom door this year!

Mrs. Phelps Sweet Shop

I definitely can't do a post without my "baby"! Bailey is 6 months old today! And is cute and annoying at the same time! We do love her so much still! Ha!

Her first trip to the boat!

Another thing I am loving right now (along with the rest of the girl world) is pinterest! I found it 2 yrs ago while I was wedding planning but had no clue what it was till a few months ago. It's so addicting but amazing for finding new recipes, crafts and teaching stuff! Here are a few things I have made from pinterest!

Chocolate chip pumpkin cookie bars....soooo good! Kinda has a cake texture.

Now if I took a pic of all the school stuff I have done/found from pinterest we would be here a while. So I won't do that!! ;)

Happy 3 day weekend!!

My summer so far...

has been a whole lot of nothing really! ;)

For the first month we kept our in-laws dog because they went to see family in Virginia. They have a chocolate lab named Katie. She is a very sweet dog and potty trained! It was a little frustrating at times trying to keep Bailey from annoying Katie so much. But we managed and I think they are somewhat "friends" now but that could be pushing it. I will say that I will never have two dogs much less one that sheds as much as a lab! While Jonathan's parents were gone to Virginia his granddad passed away. He was in VA also which is the reason why his parents were up there. It was a blessing they were there for his last couple of weeks of life. Jonathan ended up flying to VA for the funeral while I puppy sat!

Bailey and Katie in the backyard sitting still long enough to snap a picture!

I was able to go to San Antonio for a weekend to see my best friend from college and her daughter! It was a very short trip and I learned a lot about living with an almost two year old for the weekend...
-everything revolves around nap time!!
-don't say the word swing as you are walking by it, then you will have to stay outside and swing with them
-don't playfully teach them random body parts such as boobies and armpits! ha! It was only for fun but she loves to say armpits now! ;)
-you only watch what they want to watch...yeah i don't know how my "mommy friends" watch some of those shows...they are so annoying! I guess you do what you gotta do!
-don't even bother picking up the play room while they are still awake because they will destroy it in a matter of seconds! D'Lynn warned me about that but I still did it anyways thinking I was "helping" her! lol
-their sweet hugs and kisses are so precious especially from my favorite almost two year old!

D'Lynn and Brooke also came to Dallas two weeks later to see family and they stopped by my house to play for a little bit! It's so good to see them twice in two weeks!

My parents came to visit for a few days as well. We grilled out steak and cooked some live lobsters. It was delicious!!!! My mom and I also went and shopped in downtown Grapevine which was a lot of fun despite the heat! It did sprinkle a little though! ;) We went into one store and it smelled AMAZING so I asked the lady working what that smell was. She pointed me to this candle...
It is definitely the best candle I have ever smelled!!! I just had to buy it! I got the medium size but now I wish I got the large one! I want to burn it all the time but I also want it to last so I only let myself light it every now and then! ;)

I also bought myself some white hydrangeas from Central Market! Let me just say that Central Market really does have the BEST flowers!!! I wish I would have had them do my wedding flowers! They are so fresh and they last quite a while!!! I have had these flowers for over a week now and they are still gorgeous and are now HUGE! There are only 3 hydrangeas in this pic. When I bought them they were half this size! I need to figure out how to dry them properly! I think I might be stopping by CM more often to buy myself flowers! ;)

Besides buying flowers I have bought Bailey three outfits and a few bows! She looks so cute in them. Her favorite by far is the easter egg looking one! She will actually wear it for quite a while before she gets tired of it! I can't wait to find her something cute to wear for Halloween and Christmas! ha!

My favorite is this red and white stripped one but she chewed off one of the straps! lol

That's my summer so far! Not a whole lot going on at the Phelps' household! I am starting to get my ideas rolling for this upcoming school year...just started to this past week! I haven't been to school yet but I have been tempted too! I have told myself that I am not allowed to go up there at least until August! My theme for my classroom (or at least for my door!) is a sweet shoppe! I have some super cute ideas that are already underway with that thanks to etsy and oriental trading! lol Enough about school! I am going to enjoy the last month or so of summer, wishing I was on a beach in Hawaii like last summer! :-)

Our First Anniversary!!

It's FINALLY been one whole year that Jonathan and I have been married! I cannot believe it's been a year and how fast it has passed! Jonathan and I had a low key celebration but a very nice one!

We exchanged gifts in the morning. I got him an Orient Blue Mako watch that he has been wanting for a while now and a fun card!

Jonathan completely surprised me with a handmade gift!!! Those mean a LOT more to me than something bought! He got a jar, scrapbook paper, and confetti strips from Michael's. Then wrote 32 small notes/quotes about love and stuck them in the jar. I am supposed to open one a day. And he even used our wedding colors for it all!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!! And I got some pretty flowers as well!

Later in the day we went to Matador Meat and Wine and got some steak then off to Central Market to get the rest of our dinner. We ended up getting twice baked potatoes and asparagus! It was nice not having to actually cook it...just warm it up in the oven!  Gotta love me some Central Market!! ;) Jonathan did cook the steak though! And of course it was all super delicious!!!

My sweet husband!!

For dessert we had our wedding cake! The bakery, Delicious Cakes, that did our wedding cake said we could come back on our first anniversary and they would make us our wedding cake for free so we wouldn't have to save the top tier. So of course I went and picked up our cake on Saturday. We also had them make the groom's cake as well but we paid for that one! The groom's cake was the best...it was mexican chocolate cake! My cake was princess cake with strawberry filling...still very good!

Here are our actual wedding cakes from our wedding....

I was talking to one of my friends, Taren, and she said that on every anniversary her and her husband take a picture and stick it in a photo album. So I decided to copy her idea and do the same. Of course its going to take a long time to fill up a photo album. But here is the photo we are going to put in the album for our first anniversary!

We also watched our ceremony and reception highlight video that Jonathan put together himself last summer. It was such good memories and I couldn't help but think how much I would just love to relive that day...just the day not the whole planning part! lol Here is our ceremony highlight video....(couldn't get the reception video to work!)

And just for fun....this is our time lapse video Jonathan set up in the atrium. Basically this camera took a picture every 30 seconds or so...not really sure. But when you put it all together it kinda looks like a video! He had set it up the day before while we were decorating.

Jonathan and I talked about how blessed we are to have the life we live and that we get to live it together! I cannot thank God enough for all the blessings he has given us this first year of marriage! We have done many things and gone to so many different places in the last year! It makes us excited to see where this next year will take us!

Miss Bailey

So we have had Bailey almost 3 weeks now and I haven't given her away yet! Yay! ;) Those of you who know my history with puppies, knows that's a big deal! haha!  We love Bailey and will never give her up although I can't say I haven't thought about it when she pees on my carpet instead of outside on the grass! (Bailey is a mini goldendoodle who will weigh about 25-30 pounds full grown....right now she weighs a whopping 4 pounds! lol)

It's funny to watch her explore her surroundings, watch her jump and run. She loves the door stop and can't stop barking at it. She has also done great sleeping at night. I was really worried she would whine all night long but she hasn't done that at all. She will whine sometimes when we put her in the crate at night or when we leave but she stops pretty quickly afterwards. The potty training is coming along. She does pretty good most of the time. But she has had her share of little accidents. I do wish I could stop her from nibbling at things but that's a puppy for ya. I can't wait till she is older and is potty trained and doesn't try to bite my toes! Little puppies are definitely cute, and of course ours is the cutest, but I will be glad when the puppy phase is over! :) Here are some pictures of the cutest dog EVER!!!! (I can be biased right!?!) lol Did I mention Jonathan likes to call her B-dawg! Ha!

11 months!!!

I love going to weddings now that I am married! We have been to two weddings since Jonathan and I got married 11 MONTHS AGO!!!! :) This last wedding we went to was this past weekend! It was for one of my very dear friends, Candace! I was actually the matron of honor (that sounds so old lady-ish!) and Jonathan was the videographer for the wedding! It was such an honor to stand next to Candace and watch her marry Mark! Candace was one of my bridesmaids as well last year! Her wedding was held at Lantana Resort and Marina up in Pilot Point, TX. Its a really pretty place off the lake out in the middle of no where! The only hiccup of the wedding was the weather! It started to sprinkle while the ceremony was going on then thankfully once everyone got inside it started to pour down rain. The reception was to be held outside as well but that was moved inside before the wedding started. It still looked beautiful though! The staff at Lantana did a great job making sure Candace's reception looked great! Here are a few pics from the wedding weekend!

Mr. and Mrs. Mark and Candace Melton (I call her Candy Melt now! ha!)

This is one of my favorite pictures from her wedding!!!

Her sparklers were ten times better than mine!!!

Nicole (another bridesmaid) and I! All of us went to college together and were in the same sorority.

And of course me and the videographer...aka my very tired husband!

1 month left till our first anniversary!!! Where does the time go!?!

10 Months!!!

I say this every month but I honestly can't believe it's been 10 months! I remember this time last year and all I kept thinking was just two more months till we get married! Before we know it we will be old and gray celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary! ha! But I try to be careful and not wish the time away...Jonathan always tells me to not worry about that and just worry about what is happening right now! So here is what is happening at the Phelps house right now.....

We will be getting a puppy at the end of May!!!!!!

We are very excited about this! We have talked about what type of dog we wanted and after much talk and looking around (and compromising) we will be getting a petite goldendoodle! As my parents say...a fancy mutt! Oh well! It will be about 25 pounds when full grown. The mom dog is half golden retriever and cavalier spaniel and the dad is a poodle. Here are the parents:

I think both parents are cute dogs! So I am hoping that will give us a cute little puppy! lol We will be getting a female and we will have second pick of the 3 females that are in this litter. Here is a picture of the 3 females. I kinda like the one on the far right just because it's a darker color but I know that doesn't always mean it will have that same color when its full grown! Aren't they so sweet!!!
Jonathan and I went to Pet Smart the other day to look at things we will be getting soon for the puppy! I sure wish they did a registry! haha! This dog will definitely be sporting a pink color and chewing on pink toys! ;) Yeah, probably not really but I can have a few pink puppy items! We are also going to be calling her Bailey! We will get to go see her on May 14 (we will pick her out on that date!) and then take her home on May 28! It will be perfect because school will almost be over then I will have the summer training Bailey and not having to worry about going to work!

Other than the puppy that is pretty much all that is going on at the Phelps House! I will definitely post more pictures of Bailey and her sisters as we get new pictures of the dogs every week!

And because this is my "monthly anniversary post"....this is the first pic I ever saw of Jonathan...his profile pic on match.com! :-) (I might have posted this before! lol) Little did I know that he had redish hair! haha! Gotta love the black and white pictures! It's alright though...he always wanted a blonde wife and I always wanted a brunette husband. Obviously neither of us got what we wanted! lol But I think we got something even better than what we could have asked for!

My Sweet Grandma

My grandma will be celebrating Easter with Jesus this year! She definitely had a full and wonderful  88 years of life! I like to say I was her favorite grandchild but she would always say back to me that I was her only granddaughter! So I guess I can for sure say I was her favorite granddaughter! :) She will definitley be missed!

My sweet grandma, Emma Elizabeth!

My grandma holding my baby brother and me holding my baby doll!

Easter with both of my grandparents!

My grandma, mom, and I a few years ago.

I always thought this picture was funny of my grandparents!

9 months on March 26!

And once again I am late posting on our "monthly anniversaries"! "9 months and no honeymoon baby" is what I told Jonathan! I think we are doing pretty good if I do say so myself! hehe!

Well I can without a doubt say that every month that has gone by since we got married has become better than I could have imagined being married to my best friend. I always hear people say the first year of marriage is the hardest. I wouldn't say it's been hard at all but it's definitely an adjustment for both of us living with someone else. I think it's really neat seeing how we have grown and changed for the better since we got married last summer. As corny as it may sound I love him more now than I did the day we got married. ;) lol

Who would ever have thought that these two little kids would be a perfect match together in about 20 years or so! haha!

These two certainly knew! ;)

London Trip

Jonathan and I decided a while back that we wanted to take as many trips as we could before we had kids. So with that in mind we have come up with numerous trips we want to take such as Nantucket, MA, sailing in the British Virgin Islands, go on a cruise, London/Paris (and the rest of Europe) and the list can definitely keep going. Those are some of our top places to go! Well for our "Valentine's Day trip/gift" we decided at the LAST MINUTE (oh about a week and half before we actually left) to take a trip to London for the weekend! Back in the fall we originally were thinking about doing it the weekend of Valentine's but decided against it for numerous reasons. But once February came around Jonathan found a really good deal on hotel/flights so we decided to go ahead and book it! We ended up going the weekend after Valentine's. We left on Thursday, Feb. 17 and came back on Monday, Feb. 21. It was definitely a short trip but worth every minute of it.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza St. James. It was literally less than 3 minutes walking distance to Buckingham Palace. It was a nice, older hotel but it wasn't near anything really besides the palace.

Since we only had 3 full days there we were in a hurry to see as much as we could. And I must say we saw and did a lot in the cold, dreary weather!

In front of Buckingham Palace...this was the very first stop we made after getting to our hotel.

And you can't come to London without eating some fish and chips!

We also saw Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament (not pictured).

Westminster Abbey...where Prince William and Kate will soon be married! We saw a little bit inside because the door was opened but we couldn't go in and just from what we could see it was amazing inside!

And of course we had to go inside Harrod's department store. It was HUGE and had everything from the  jewelry to groceries to pizza inside there!

While visiting Harrod's I was told by a friend we should try Morelli's Gelato. So of course we did and it was delicious but this thing cost about $20 USD! Craziness if you ask me!

We also ate at the very first Hard Rock Cafe ever opened! Nothing fancy but at least we can say we ate there I guess! ;)

One of the stores I found there was this one... I LOVED it! It had the cutest purses and jewelry!

My favorite place we visited was Notting Hill and the Portobello Road Market that is there. This is area where the movie Notting Hill was filmed! They had the most neatest little shops and vendors!

We also visited the Tower of London...

and the most famous bride there....the Tower Bridge.

And of course I had to take my picture in front of the red telephone booth! ;)

The only other thing I would have liked to do was tour Westminster Abbey and go out of the city to tour some castles. I guess we will just have to go back sometime! ;)
