Giving a gift is always special, but creating one by hand adds an extra layer of meaning. This year, instead of choosing something from a store shelf, I decided to make a gift that would spark excitement, curiosity, and a sense of adventure. That’s how the idea of a mini-album invitation to a trip to the Azores was born.
I’ve always loved crafting, and mini-albums are one of my favorite projects. They’re small, personal, and full of surprises - perfect for telling a story. And what better story than the promise of a journey together?
A traditional invitation felt too simple for a trip as magical as the Azores. The islands deserve something creative and heartfelt, so I designed an album that unfolds like a tiny travel adventure on its own.
I started with a small accordion-style base and decorated each page with scrapbook papers inspired by christmas: reds, greens with a touch of gold. I added pockets, tags, and tiny envelopes, each hiding a little hint about the destination.
One page revealed a miniature map of São Miguel. Another included a photo of the hot springs in Furnas. There was even a small fold-out section showing the twin lakes of Sete Cidades. Step by step, the album became a treasure hunt leading to the final message:
“Pack your bags - we’re going to the Azores!”
The beauty of a handmade mini-album is that it becomes more than just an invitation - it turns into a keepsake. After the trip, I’ll add photos, ticket stubs, and memories to transform it into a small scrapbook of our adventure.

There's something truly magical about turning 70. It’s a celebration of a life filled with memories, milestones, and moments worth cherishing. For such a special occasion, I wanted to create a gift that felt just as meaningful. That’s why I chose to make an exploding box - a handmade keepsake that combines creativity, personalization, and surprise all in one. For this exploding box, I went with a classic and elegant theme, using autumn-inspired shades of pink - think dusty rose, mauve, warm blush, and a hint of steel. These cozy, muted tones created a soft, nostalgic feel that perfectly suited the occasion. Each layer was filled with personal touches: notes and birthday wishes, 3D foamiran and paper flowers. To complete the look, delicate cut-out numbers 7 and 0 were suspended from the inside of the lid, gently hanging down and adding a lovely dimensional touch when the box is opened. There’s something truly special about giving a handmade gift – especially when it’s created for an occasion as meaningful as a First Holy Communion. Recently, I had the joy of crafting a complete gift set consisting of a personalized card, a matching box, and a coordinating gift bag. Every element was designed with care to make this sacred celebration even more memorable.

I’m thrilled to share the details of my most recent scrapbooking project, which I made for a very special occasion – the retirement of a dear colleague. This project was a heartfelt expression of appreciation and love for someone who’s been such an integral part of our work family.
The set I created consists of three unique pieces: a card, a box, and a gift bag, all meticulously handcrafted to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Let me take you through each element of the set. The Card
The card is the centerpiece of the set. I wanted to create something vibrant and warm, reflecting the joy and excitement that retirement brings. I used a mix of patterned papers in soft, calming tones, paired with elegant embellishments like ribbon and a few floral accents. The focal point - quote - was framed into plaster frame – the perfect representation of the relaxing days ahead! Inside, I added a personal message, of course, because no handmade card is complete without a note from the heart. The Box
The box was designed to hold a card and a small, meaningful gift – for example a piece of jewelry or a personal memento. I chose sturdy, textured cardstock to give the box an elegant feel and used decorative elements like lace die and a few metallic accents to give it a classy touch. It’s the kind of box that not only serves as packaging but can also be repurposed for keepsakes, making it both beautiful and functional. The Gift Bag
No gift is complete without a thoughtful presentation, and for this, I crafted a matching gift bag. The bag featured the same soft colors and charming details as the card and box. I used a combination of die-cut shapes to give the bag a personalized, handcrafted vibe. The handles were made with ribbon, which added a elegant touch to the overall look. It was the perfect finishing touch to complete the retirement set. Why Scrapbooking for Retirement?
I chose scrapbooking for this project because it's such a personal and meaningful craft. It allowed me to put my creativity into something that was not only beautiful but deeply thoughtful. A handmade set like this shows the effort and care that went into making it, and it’s a perfect way to mark such a monumental life event as retirement. Every piece tells a story, from the little details to the overall design, and I hope it made my colleague feel truly special.
This project was not just about creating beautiful things – it was about celebrating a milestone, showing appreciation, and giving a gift that would leave a lasting memory. I’m so happy with how it turned out, and I’m sure it brought a smile to my colleague’s face.

Here it comes... My project for July Scor-Pal challenge. I'd like to present you a liitle something that I made recently. It's First Communion set for a girl. I chose a combination of pink, gold and white to make this set. I added the appropriate accent using cut outs with a dies. Handmade flowers and lace added girlishness to the card.
