favorite foods luncheon

have to share this ...

this past week henry had his favorite foods luncheon at school ... each child brings his/her favorite food and shares with everyone during a group lunch in the fellowship hall.  I asked henry what he would like mommy to make/bring for the luncheon.

he replied, "cupcakes."
I said, "sounds good.  anything else?"
H: "goldfish."
me:  "anything else?"
H: "apples."
me:  "okay-anything else?"
H:  "sesame sticks."

the next morning I queried him to see what his response would be ... the same, different, who knows.

me:  "henry, what would you like mommy to make for the luncheon?"
H:  "everything I reported yesterday."
pbbtttt haaaaaaaaaa!  I burst into laughter ... hilarious answer!

so there you have it, everything he reported yesterday.

captain destructo

so gary affectionately calls owen "captain destructo," which is funny if you know owen (he really is captain destructo ... strong, determined, and will tear up something as fast as you can say owen).  owen is so sweet and so good, but is most definitely captain destructo.  what is also humorous is to hear his older brother refer to him as "captain destructo" as well.  something about hearing a three year old say, "oh captain destructo, you tore that up," puts a smile on your face. ha!

a few weeks ago owen found a roll of small waste basket trash bags in his closet and decided to explore each one.  each one ... and we mean each one.  we were also trying on a new swimsuit for O and someone gave him his papsy, which he normally only has during nap and bed time.  he also had on cute airplane shoes that were a sweet gift from great aunt mary.  this made for an interesting outfit and then certainly an interesting room, with many, many trash bags all over the place.  henry thought this was hilarious and played "monkey" with the whole shebang; complete with monkey walk and the ooh ooh and ahh ahhs.
needless to say it was a memorable moment.  funny little guys!

spring break recap

we stayed around auburn for spring break ... had a great visit with my sisters and mother, worked, played, had nice weather, you name it.  a recap ...

I love the above photo of Katelyn and below of Savannah ... just playing around.

14 March 2011

the firstborn.

nothing new with savannah these days, but she IS the firstborn and thus I thought I'd share some recent photos of her.  savannah turns eleven on may 16th ... as hard as it is to believe the boys are three and one, it is even harder to believe that she and I have been together for eleven years.  wild.
the old red dog.  she is so special, yes special, craziness and all, to us.  to me.  any parent knows that children, no matter their birth order, are truly special and unique and loved ... and this is true for dogs.  all of our dogs mean so very much to us, but each child and dog and animal deserves some time in the sun.
today is red dog's day.  and today, she is extra loved.

oh, cuteness.

lots of cuteness here.  two of mommy's luckiest charms.
henry is my little sous chef and loves to help in the kitchen.  he helped me make a coconut cake for gary (gv's, although not a dessert person, favorite) for his birthday.  after helping, he helped lick the bowl.
and ended up with egg on his head.  yep!  the batter somehow ended up on his head and in his hair.  this was funny enough to document.  once henry knew about the batter on his head he wanted to take a bath.  ha!
more cuteness.  love, love, love these three fellows.

meeting miss katelyn

a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting miss katelyn perlin for the first time and visiting with all arends and perlins families.  what a visit!  so nice to see everyone.
every visit calls for a yummy dinner at mongolian barbeque!  miss shirley and owen share the same birthday-how special is that?  as awlays, great to see dr. joe and miss shirley.
hello katelyn!
isn't she precious?!  so delicate.
this was my first trip away from the boys since the old hospital ... I sure did miss all three of them.
i did have a wonderful time playing with adam though!  he is very smart and quite coordinated.
on friday it was warm (high 34) and the snow had all melted.  by sunday, 8+ inches of snow fell and it was chilly!  I love cold weather so it was just fine with me (maye not everyone else in MI who sees snow all the time ... can't blame them).  adam is getting ready for the white fluffy blanket of SNOW!
adam was pretending he was asleep and then awake.  too funny.
on sunday katelyn eleanor perlin was baptized.  suzanne and kevin asked me to be her Godmother.  kevin's brother Kenny was asked to be her Godfather.  what a meaningful day for katelynn, the perlins, the Godparents, for all.
suzanne and her daughter.  katelyn is such a sweet baby girl ... I can not wait to see what the future holds for her ... for adam ... for kevin and suzanne.
what a blessing to meet her, to be there as her future merely begins to unfold.
what blessings for katelyn to have a loving brother and two devoted parents.

birthdays, birthdays everywhere

throw a dart in january and february and it is someone's birthday in the vaughan house.  we all have birthdays within the span of five weeks.  I had a wonderful birthday as did gary.  birthdays are important in my family ... each year is a treasure.  this was how I was raised and it has only intensified over the last few months.  gary has come around to liking birthdays, too.

a day with the boys, picnic lunch at the park, gorgeous weather, a run, a walk with the doggies, momma g's for dinner, sweet well wishes from family and friends, hugs, kisses, dessert ... what's NOT to like about that?!  and a few days later a visit with my dear friend and all of the family.  that is another post.
for gary's birthday we went to the Irish Pub in Opelika.  this was our first time-what a neat place!  will definitely be back.  treasured family time, friend time, outdoor time and lots of love ... nothing to dislike about that either.  :)

headed to school ... normalcy of routine and our car is so nice.
here's to birthdays at 1007 stage road ... and many more to come!  cheers.
