baseball game. so fun.

a few weeks ago we went to an Auburn baseball game - our one game of the season.  we didn't necessarily plan for it to be the only game but that's how it worked out.  the tigers didn't come away with a win, but we all had a great time.  owen went to a game last year but at his age, who knows what he remembered.  he really had a good time.  we saw aubie there - owen absolutely loved this and wanted to follow aubie around once he spotted him.

that night when i was changing owen into his pajamas, he looked up at me with from his changing pad with tired eyes and a grin, and said, "baseball game. so fun."  it was the sweetest thing.

and, i have several more posts to come hopefully  at some point this week... of our growing garden, snakes, our vacation and race, henry's first vacation bible school, and random pictures here and there.  par for the course i am about two weeks behind - i am trying to keep the old blog in chronological order.  gary was out of town last week for work and owen decided last week that sleeping was a whole lot harder and tearful than normal.  henry has swimming lessons every night for the next two weeks - he is pumped!  i can't wait to hear what he says about this - his commentary on things is usually pretty witty and/or comical.

anywho, happy father's day - what an unspeakable blessing a true father is!

sterling.

here's to sterling - loyal, happy, eager to play, and bright eyed.  stereotype of the typical "happy, unconditional dog and friend."
he was given as a christmas present to my brother from my parents in 1997.
he passed away on may 21st, 2012.
the circle of life just never seems the same, does it?
when my brother came down memorial day weekend, we spread his ashes on the pond at our house.
  he is loved and missed.
but we know he is having a great time running, swimming, playing and resting in a cool spot in heaven.

memorial day weekend

what a great weekend we had visiting with friends and family!
enjoyed dinner with sweet friends friday night ... followed by a day at the lake saturday ... followed by a visit from my brother sunday ... and lunch with more sweet friends on monday.

a few lake photos ... handstand contests are always a good time
henry never got out of the water, he is a fish i tell ya.  owen stepped into the water when we first got there and it scared him.  the rest of the day he wanted nothing to do with the water - but was interested in riding the seadoo.  this was really surprising since owen is so fearless!

love this pic of dad and o.
having fun in the sand of the horseshoe pits
 apple {uncle} brock

alex and the boys enjoying lunch on the porch.
here's to many a good time!

boys will be boys.

wrestle time!

bath tub time!

1934. 2012.

on the evening of our rehearsal dinner, gary's sister presented us with an extremely meaningful gift.
"the vaughan house - est. 1934" plaque hung outside of gary's grandparents house for many, many years.  this sign was the meaningful gift.
and for nearly eight years it hung at stage road - now it hangs on the front porch of our home.

and here are a few snapshots of the hydrangeas in bloom - can i just tell you how lovely it was to walk outside and cut them for friends, a baby shower, and for our enjoyment at home?  holy moly.  they were beautiful.

and last but definitely not least ... our wedding gifts to each other were {from me} a Bible and {from gary} a hammock.  the hammock at our old house was so nice, so peaceful - it lasted until about two years ago.  this anniversary, gary and the boys put up a hammock for me.  oh how i love it and so do they.

birth. days.

a few weeks ago we celebrated john gregory's very first birthday.
really, he is one?  goodness.
on the ponderosa, we have four boys out here between the two families {petersons and vaughans} - ages six, four, two and now, one.

 happy birthday jp.

and a few snapshots from the party ... funny o.  he is full of personality and spunk; makes us laugh every day.

the next day we hosted a baby shower for katherine at our home.  kat, doug and alex will welcome baby girl bentley very soon {due in beginning of july}!
 emma did a fantastic job with the decorations / signs {thanks for the pics, emma!}

 and mel a fantastic job with the favors {little jars of pink lemonade with sweet stickers}
hostesses:  katherine's sister in law, stephanie, emma, melanie, katherine, tricia
 judy and emma

baby girl bentley - we anticipate your arrival!  how exciting!

and in other extremely exciting news, we will soon welcome two new cousins into the family ... that's right, uncle joe, auntie d. and elizabeth will be adding twin boys to the bernstein household.  henry asked last night before bed if the babies had been born yet - i answered not yet - he asked "when are they going to get here mommy?  i'm ready to see them!"  me too, h.  how wonderful.  mid-august is the due date ... stay tuned!
