with utter joy and love {and a good bit of surprise about the early arrival}, yesterday our twin nephews arrived! joseph and eli are each around four pounds. mother and babies are hanging in there fairly well ... they are all fighters and so strong. especially deirdre, who drove herself to the hospital! needless to say it was an exhausting day for all of them, but thanks be to God for their health and strength.
and, today the bentleys welcomed their baby girl, emily katherine! beautiful, sweet baby. both mother and baby are doing well! and katherine delivered emily naturally, as she did with alex. another incredibly strong and devoted woman. amazing.
is there anything quite like the birth of a child, really and truly? what a one of a kind experience, whatever circumstances may surround it. and when a child is born into a family that is close to you, it brings back memories of the day your own children were born. the whens, the hows, the wows. to me, it makes me overcome with emotion ... the emotion you feel for the family bringing a new member to its circle; the emotion you feel as you walk down your own memory lane; and the sheer miracle, just plain miracle, of it all. takes your breath away. literally.
