Sunday Adventures

1. This morning, as I was preparing to substitute in Sunday School, Ben hung out with Xander. During that time they talked about Jesus coming again. Later that morning, our friend Seth called and Xander got on the phone and told him that Jesus was coming to his house. Then during "Splash Time" (the part of the bath where we close the curtain and let Xander splash) Ben came in and whispered, "Xander." And from behind the curtain comes a most innocent question, "Jesus?" If we were only all as innocent as children and could hear that still, small voice!
2. We all know that Xander has BIG feet for his age...he has since birth. So this morning, we decided to stop trying to shove his size 8 foot into a size 7 shoe. So we got out the brown Sunday Shoes--the size 8's that he wore on Thursday for pictures. Well, neither Ben or I could get the shoes on. We tried the black 7's since he wore them last week...no luck. We then decided to put on his tennis shoes and just go shopping this week. So Ben went to the shoe basket and got his shoes. When he did he looked at them and said, "Well, no wonder the brown ones don't fit! These are 9 1/2's!" And I looked at him and said, "What?" Because back in January we got Xander's foot measured and they told us he was just about an 8. So we bought the Lightening McQueen 8's. So we have come to the conclusion that his shoes got switched while recently playing somewhere (neither of us can think of where he might have taken off his shoes) and Xander ended up with a pair way too big and some poor child ended up with a pair too small! So, if anyone is missing a pair of 9.5 Cars shoes and has a pair of size 8's--let us know! We'd be all to happy to switch them as they are WAY too big and thus we will have to buy yet another pair of shoes for Xander until he grows into these ones.... Oh to be a parent!!! :)

Update on Ben & Wendy

Because we have decided to make our blog our journal, we realized we'd better not just talk about the kids...so here is a small update about the makers of the family!

Ben is doing fantastic at Thunderbird! He is part of Student Government, the Global HRM (Human Resource Management) club, and while classes are challenging, Ben is not only maintaining a great GPA but he has earned higher ranking scholarships for continuing students (based on GPA and school participation). Ben is currently searching for that perfect internship--and planning for his summerim trip to Chili & Argentina in May!

Wendy is currently enjoying the challenge of having 2 children-I learn something new everyday. After much debate & research I have finally settled on a double stroller which we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of. Since carrying one child in the sling and pushing the other has NOT been working well. I am enjoying coaching the YMCA masters class 3 hours/week--I am allowed to swim with the class but after this morning we'll see if I venture in again. I've NEVER felt so out of shape--who knew I could write such challenging workouts!

Life is an adventure and we are having a great ride right now. We are so excited for all that is coming up--especially when we will find out where we will be living this summer!

A Best Buy!

You know how it is...you get this idea in your head that your kid needs a new toy. They just seem bored all the time. So you go out and buy the coolest toy you've heard of...everyone swears by it. Ok, not this time. You see...Xander LOVES to jump. He jumps all the time--on my bed, his bed, the couch, the chairs, the ground. WHENEVER he can, he jumps. And I hate being the mean Mom. I hate always being like, "Don't do that Xander...Not there Xander...Xander, didn't I already tell you NOT to jump from couch to couch??" SO I got the crazy idea to buy a mini tramp for our apartment. And now I say...Xander we do not jump on the couch, where can we jump? And it has been great! And even better...he still loves it. He sits on it to watch movies...he jumps in the AM, in the PM...all the time. And better yet...the tramp I bought came with an exercise video, stretch cords and a jump monitor for me! YEAH! Who would have thought that I could buy a toy for me and my son! It is seriously worth every penny!

2 Months Old!

Here is our little (or not so little) Eliza. She sure is growing quickly...weighing in at 14.5 lbs and 24.5 in at her 2 month check-up. She sure is a joy though--a great addition to our family. She is such a talker...this isn't one of her more animated conversations but you can at least get the idea. :) She is sleeping well at night, still loving bath time & her brother and always, always smiling. Enjoy!!

The Rest of the Trip

We made it home Wednesday and while we are grateful for all the fun we had in beautiful Sacramento--it is so good to be home. Although, the upper 80/low90 weather has been kinda hard to adjust to. :) But here are some more highlights from our trip: Eliza met Nana & Grumpy... We had an Easter Party with the Webster cousins complete with an Egg Hunt, London Bridge, Ring-A-Round Rosy, singing Popcorn Popping to the blossoming trees and treats! After finals Daddy came so that we could bless Eliza at Church...those pictures will come later because they are on daddy's camera. After daddy left, Nana had spring break so we stayed for our last few days at their house. While there we went to lots of parks...here is Xander rolling down hills and playing at Ed Mitchell—even Nana rolled down the hill! Eliza also got to meet Aunt Kayley & Uncle John who bought her a fantastic St. Patricks Day dress…she was more festive than us all! Overall, we had a fantastic trip! We love our family! There is definitely something to be said about being able to live near family...we sure do miss all you guys! At least for now we have our Thunderbird Family...and we are so glad to see all of you again! Happy Easter everyone~enjoy the day!

California Love!

What a great trip we have had so far! I'm so glad we still have a week left. Although, from my perspective, the trip would be much better if Ben were here. :( But the kids are having a blast here in California. We've had lots of fun with our cousins and grandparents and old friends. We've been to the zoo, the pool to see mom's old swimmers, Music Makers, and more. Xander is having a blast--playing catch with Laney or Sierra (our parents dogs), playing with Abram, playing at Grandma's park (Ben's folks have a large playstructure in their yard) and going to Nana's school. Eliza is doing well--sleeping better at night than she ever did at home--in 6 hour stretches. And she is loving all the attention--she's rarely put down right now. There is still a lot to do and so we'll add more later...but enjoy the show so far!!
