The start of a BIG Project
When Ben and I got married, I had big plans as to what was going to happen to this wedding dress of mine. Well, the kids came a little faster than planned and so I didn't get it done. But now Eliza is turning 8 and I still really wanted to take apart my dress and have it made into something my girls could wear. I found a friend who said she would help me create the skirts I wanted. But before I had it taken apart--I decided to try it on one last time...and it fit! GO ME!!
So naturally, I let all girls try it on and take pictures in it so that they can say that they wore their mothers wedding dress someday.

Summer days
Our summer has been a little different than most. We are never home! My niece Ashley is visiting for 6 weeks from Texas so as soon as I am done at work, we race to my parents to play with her. Usually that includes more swimming!
But some of us have found time to to read a few 1000 pages of Harry Potter! An
And others of us are so excited about the free pluots we received...jam anyone?

Flying Solo
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I believe that when a man and woman are married in the temple, that they can be married for more than just life on earth. That through the Priesthood, they can be "sealed" together for life beyond the grave. So for us it is quite a big deal if you are married if you are married outside of the temple "until death do you part" or inside the temple, "for time and all eternity". Being able to go in the temple means that you are living your life in accordance with the teachings of the church: not drinking/smoking, attending church meetings, have a testimony of God & jesus Christ. My cousin Adarienne and her husband Bud have been married for 22 years! Their story is amazing. One of hard work, dedication and true love. A few years ago they began attending an LDS church. They have worked together on many lifestyle changes and were recently found ready and worthy to go to the temple and be "sealed" together for more than this mortal life. For us, it is a big deal. I got to fly out for the occasion. It was beautiful. There were many tears of joy and lots of love as we watched this couple make more commits with themselves and covenants with their Father in Heaven. I flew out solo--it was an awful flight because I had the stomach flu but a small tender mercy of getting put next to the bathroom was much appreciated. I stayed at a hotel most of the nights and then with my sisters family one night. We had a great time! I got to play with Callie and braid her hair. And I got to take my nephews on a bike ride and buy them shaved ice. I love being a Mom but it is much easier to be a great Aunt when you aren't playing Mom as well. :) I'm super grateful for my friends who helped with my kids and that I was able to be part of my cousins special day.

M&M Math
I don't do much school work during the summer other than reading but every once in awhile we play a math game. This is a favorite because everyone can do something. Some do multiplication, some do addition and some just do sorting. And it tastes sooooo good!

Cub Scouts Day Camp
I love when I get pictures from those who are at day camp! Xander had a blast at day camp this year. "Everything was super fun."

100 Degree Traditions
Sometimes we gotta just go with it. My kids were super whiny on a 100 degree day so I made a rule: we can wear tank tops to play in and go get an ice cream somewhere on 100 degree days. I think it helped...might have created a monster though as my kids suddenly became extremely curious as to what the weather was forcasted to be!

Violet's Graduated!
For the past couple years, Violet and I have worked together in a co-op preschool Mother Goose. We had a great group of kids and Moms to work with. Violet loved the kids in her group and is excited that her friend Sienna is going to be at the same school with her in the fall!
