I’m just so thankful. So so thankful. Orientation today was a blast.
I’m currently typing this outside the UNSW Gym because the sister is inside working out, and I’m not allowed access because you would then have to sign up for the membership card which will cost me 60 Aussie bucks per month. Maybe not then. I’m running low on cash! The sister said I’ll use her pass when she’s not using it since we look alike. And Ang Mohs always think that all asian girls look similar.
Its quite cool – there’s a café in between the gym and the swimming pool, they are divided by glass panels. So people working out can see people swimming and working out , vice versa. Which isn’t a very good idea – imagine doing your treadmill infront of yummy muffins and sandwiches!
Orientation today was really fun! Its not so much of the activities but rather the company I would say. The activities all that —— BORING BORING.
Fon was my first friend in UNSW, she’s from Thailand and is currently pursuing her masters in Commerce, majoring in marketing. She’s really pretty and speaks with an American accent. Although she’s 25 years old, I clicked with her the moment we met. We just had so much things to talk about. I also found out that she worked for EXXONMOBIL – and I worked for Shell before! So we were pretty excited about coming from the same industry. And the thing was, she’ stays right opposite me, just have to cross the road! We hang out a bit in school, walked around, look around together J
We walked back home together, or rather, she walked me home since I’m staying nearer to school. She was supposed to meet me down my place at 3pm so we could walk together to school for our next program (she likes to eat at home too, yayyy, cheapo cheapo one, just like me!). But I met Lauren, she’s my senior, an Australian, to buy her textbooks! She offered me a really good price – $65 for both the textbook and the student manual. If I were to buy it 1st hand from the book store, I would have to pay $200.
At space recovery, I met Christina – she’s an ABC from Los Angeles. She’s really pretty and she’s doesn’t look Chinese at all. She looks Pan Asian. She’s doing her Masters in Microbiology something something – I’m not really sure. We chatted quite a bit before we were interrupted by Edwin, Alex and this German guy. (I forgot his name!)
So I met 1 from Germany, 1 from Columbia, a few from Hong Kong and Malaysia and many from China! Yet none from Singapore till I met Shawn. I was pretty shocked when he told me his name and I had to double confirm the spelling. And the thing is, he attends hillsongs church as well! He’s quite funny how detected he’s a christian – every sentence he will end with “thank God”… its really a blessing that i’m able to…. He’s gonna like contact me when the hillsong person find a connect group for him, so he’ll ask me along! Really very happy to have met him!
And he’s housemate PC – also another Singaporean. Being around them makes me feel happy. It makes me feel less homesick – I don’t know why. I just feel so happy! Meeting them certainly made me night. J
OH YES, AND I FOUND A JOB ALREADY! I’M working at three. http://www.three.com.au
